Knight & Day Movie Trailer

Knight & Day

20th Century Fox has released the first teaser trailer for the new Tom Cruise action/comedy Knight & Day. Directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line / 3:10 to Yuma / Girl, Interrupted), the film centers on a fugitive couple (played by Cruise and Cameron Diaz) on a “glamorous and sometimes deadly adventure where nothing and no one – even themselves – are what they seem. Amid shifting alliances and unexpected betrayals, they race across the globe, with their survival ultimately hinging on the battle of truth vs. trust.” The film also feratures Maggie Grace, Peter Sarsgaard, Marc Blucas, Paul Dano, and Viola Davis.

While the comedy at moments falls flat (which is a shame, as I loved Cruise’s appearance in Tropic Thunder) the Bourne-style action sequences might be enough to earn my $10. Watch the trailer now embedded after the jump. Please leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Knight & Day hits theaters on July 2nd 2010.

I hate all the self rightous, sit on my film buff high chair comments.
  • The poster is horrid, but I love James Mangold and will pay to see all of his films in the theatre (even if they star Tom Cruise).

There was just a Korean movie released on DVD called MY GIRLFRIEND IS A SPY, which was very weak in many places but which i really enjoyed in spite of.

This, though, i find really just doesn't work for me. While i DID find Cruise hilarious in TROPIC THUNDER, i find that the Cruise-ishness just is at odds with the humor of this film and Cameron Diaz just seems terrible in this role. It just repulses me (meaning "pushes me away" NOT "makes me ill"). I think someone for whom that playful, self-awareness is more natural would be better than Cruise who seems always so self-impressed and cocky. I'm thinking like Kurt Russell in his prime.

I liked it. Not everything is going to be superserious, and Cruise's comedy seems to be very much suited to him and not out of character like in Tropic Thunder. Looking forward to this one.

Holy hilarious poster. Got to be careful when using silhouettes because that woman now looks like she's got a little surprise or "packing a little heat" and might not even be a woman at all.

Put me in the camp that thinks this looks pretty fun. That motorcylce stunt was fairly wicked. Plus James Mangold is in that camp of filmmakers that won't blow you away but has a fairly consistent track record.
  • It'll hit DVD shelves 4 months after release. I'll catch it then.

I kind of like that the trailer has it's own little narrative going on. I agree that I'm pretty sick of Diaz and her obnoxious hysterics though.

Geeze people are being harsh. I wasn't much of a fan for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but I'm looking forward to this. I like the comedy/action like True Lies or something though. May not be great but I'm interested.
  • Man, imagine if Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz had been together in a movie like this circa 1998. It would have been HUGE. Now I can't imagine anyone caring.
  • derp
    looks good enough to me
  • It feels and looks very cool, however I have a feeling that Cruise's great performance will be constantly interrupted by Diaz's poor one.
  • That is one ugly movie poster.

2nd'd. Particularly the protrusion between the female character's legs (WTF?! Unintentional comedy gold!)
  • Probably will be the type of movie that would be last in my line of picking movies to go to. That's not a knock on it either, it just won't be a top pick.

I will see this movie. Why? Because James Mangold is directing it. He is a solid directing that delivers above average and usually entertaining movies. Cop Land, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma. And Scott Frank wrote the script. Scott Frank of The Lookout, Minority Report, Out of Sight. Forget Cruise and Diaz. Even though I like both actors. Don't get the hate on them.

Anyway I always make my decision on movies based on the Director and sometimes the writer. The actor is the last thing on my reasons to see a film unless Megan Fox or Zoe Saldana are getting naked or something.

    guilty pleasure, maybe?
  • im skipping this one completely to but i will say i like the poster alot. every time now i see a trailer with Cameron Diaz the first this that comes to mind is that silly dane cook joke.
  • clarencesomerset
They have pretty good chemistry. Reminds me of a funnier version of Mr. & Mrs. Smith

Why do people insist on bashing Cruise, when it has no releveance to the matter?. Shut up,quit your bitching and just wait till the movie comes out.

It looks cute,i'm looking forward to it

    So many humbugs here!

It's light comedy and it made me lightly chuckle - does what it says on the box - looks like fun.

Absolutely great trailer, definitely gonna watch it.
  • "Knight & Day"? Wasn't that the title of a Knight Rider episode?
  • Kensei
Yeah skipping this one. It's almost as bad as the poster.

I couldn't think of 2 people worse to star in an action/comedy together. I'm skipping this one.

Haha, this movie seems like so much fun. Sure, very predictable but still guys it´s like Mission Impossible but Ethan is a looney and we get the beautiful Cameron Diaz!

Something about Mr. & Ms. Smith

Not to judge the movie by its trailer alone but:

Cameron Diaz...I'm sure she's a wonderful person, but I bet this could have been more interesting with someone else in her role.
  • Yeah but...it's a star vehicle all the way. She's doing exactly what she's supposed to be doing.

And I enjoyed the comedy in the trailer. It wasn't laugh-out-loud funny, more like ah-I'm-having-a-good-time funny.

Agree, this does look pretty good though and I have faith in director James Mangold. I hate the title though.

I liked it tbh, could be a good popcorn flick

WTF is happening in this trailer? Plot? Anyone?

Its a teaser. What do you expect from it. The purpose of it is to excite/pump you for the movie. The release is still half a year away, plenty of time for the plot and trailers to come out.

And i really liked the "teaser" trailer. Cruise doing mindless action/comedy is what i want to see and this movie seems to be delivering it. If you want an artsy film with a plot, look somewhere else.

Plus i am a huge bourne fan and these movies have absolutely no plot. Ive seen the series atleast 10 times and all they do is give bourne an excuse to hop on car/plane/train/ship/bike/scooter and go from one place to another while kicking ass, and i love them for it.
  • Megajat
Hey dude! How exactly are you a fan of the "bourne" series when you find these movies as having no plot and *gasp* "action is difficult and boring to watch"? You, my friend. are the new definition of fanboy if there ever was one.
  • Hey genious that was two different people.
  • bourne films have absolutely no plot? wtf are you talking about?
  • J.D.
I'll take it a step further: The bourne films not only have no plot, the action is difficult and boring to watch.
  • Brandon
    Formulaic action/comedy is what's happening.

Cameron meets Tom Cruise on the plane. While in the bathroom, Tom kills everybody on the plane. Cameron accidentally becomes involved with an international plot to ________________. [Fill in the blank.]
  • Brandon
I thought it was kinda funny. I prefer verbal to somebody getting slapped with something. I've always thought Tom Cruise is a douche, but I may watch this movie. Looks fairly decent.
  • it's not the film's fault, but i find it extremely difficult to divorce real-life Cruise from movie Cruise.
