Kick Ass Red Band Hit Girl trailer

hit_girl

After the character posters for Kick-Ass come the character trailers, and it’s a case of Last In, First Out as Hit Girl becomes the star of the opening effort. It’s of immediate interest that this is a Red Band trailer, complete with extreme profanity and explicit acts of violence, both of which are being doled out by a little girl. Watch it after the break, but be warned that it is most definitely NSFW.

Hit Girl aka Mindy Macready is being played by Chloe Moretz. Seeing as she’s now about to turn 13 I think she’s going to be growing up so rapidly over the coming year or two that I hope Mark Millar’s promise of a Kick-Ass follow-up can be put into action quickly. Either that or they somehow displace the chronology in the narrative appropriately to allow for her aging. I know it’s not his responsibility as a comics creator, but it’d be disingenuous to pretend he hasn’t got at least one eye on the movie adaptations all the way along.

There’s likely going to be an annoying ad play before this trailer but stick with it. The embed comes courtesy of Empire

Didn’t she do well, ladies and gentlemen.

Peter saw the film at Butt-Numb-A-Thon, so I can’t share his perspective on the trailers. Indeed, it’s more likely I’m looking at them something similar to the way you are. Does this Hit Girl spot make me want to see the film? Yes, it does. It seems pretty darn smooth and polished, and there’s some funny, cartoony juxtapositions of the innocent and the profane in there. It’s hard to imagine how any other character from this picture could have a specific trailer cut to quite the same effect but I guess we’ll find out soon if it’s even possible.

Incidentally, there’s almost no information on the movie available at all, but Bleeding Cool have ascertained that Mark Millar is currently writing the screenplay for his own directorial debut and that it won’t be an adaptation of one of his comics. More on that one as some details - any details! - come to light.

What a great juxtaposition for a movie. I'm buying Kick Ass as soon as it moves from a juxtaposition on the venues to a just-a-position on the Amazon website.

My school got a free screening of it and i must say...

It was AMAZING!!! One of the absolute best put together stories in a while, perfectly casted, amazing art direction, and to top it all off with amazing action sequences it was hilarious! I will definitely be buying the special edition when it comes out on DVD. Everyone should see it!!!
  • I got to see a pre screening of this and it is excellent. Very funny. Although this particular trailer shows all the best bits of the movie... too much information ruins it...
  • It is fine article. And confirming to told, I will remind that all new - well forgotten old. roshistory.ru

Compared to James Gunn's movie "Super", this looks like a kid movie. Gunn has mature dramatic talent (Bacon, Rooker) as well as Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page for edge. "Super" promises grit, action and drama - wait and see a real indie movie for adults.

That's first time I have ever thought Nick Cage looked like he might do a good job in a movie, even if he's only got two lines.

they say this is unsuitable for kids well kids have seen worse than this the special effects aren't particularly anything special you can tell the legs that are chopped off by hit girl are clearly prosthetic the sword that hit girl plunges through the guy's chest is CGI Nicolas Cage is annoying because its tongue in cheek the girl hit girl is also tongue in cheek i am cute i am my daddy's little angel but i am also violent but i don't mean it kind of thing tongue in cheek then the stupid banana splits music comes on that was it for me this is a spoof and as much as i like Nicolas Cage this has got to be the worst film he has done the plot is silly i mean kill bill the professional Leon were successful rightly so but why try and do it again with this the acting isn't particularly good either. And kids will watch this they watch things like the Saw films and other films that are of some interest the acting in kick ass is clearly done for laughs
  • ayo, that was crazy! hahaha

  • Stephanie
    Alright. Fuck you to death.
  • Like that dude who gets forced to shoot himself in the head at the end of this Kick-Ass teaser, seeing this is a no-brainer.
  • ScanCase
Now if only a "kick-ass" trailer with a greenband can get out there to the public this movie will be set.
  • Uhm, I can not properly explain how utterly excited I am for this movie.
  • benlomand
Looks soso. Not a fan of kids cussing.

I think this is the last Kick-Ass trailer I'll watch. I'm already sold on the movie...and any other trailer I see is just gonna take away from when I do finally watch the finished product.

I guess I'm the only one then who thinks it looks like shit.

Another celebration of violence. Kids kill bad guys. So, if movies are influenced or represent the state of oour society... we are doomed.

I know its only a comic adaption...
  • JC
I have to say that I agree. If they had sexualised the young girl instead of- or in addition to making her a participant in aggrandized, celebrated wanton killing (not to mention ridiculously bullshit acrobatics- reloading a clip utilising precise inertia? C'mon) then I dare say that fewer people would be willing to admit to being drawn in by this. Precocious actions by a young person of course makes for shocking, and thus, easily engaging cinema, but I think if anything it should alight our observation to how disturbing our lust for violence truly is.

Leon (The Professional) I liked, this, I find unpalatable.
  • jrice73
    FUCK YEAH!!!
  • You know, it's strange, when I saw the footage at comic con I was absolutely blown away - it was all I could talk about - but now I am just not feeling it for some reason. Expectations do unfun things to my enjoyment/perspective of entertainment sometimes. Fooey.
  • AlexTamayo
I thought the film was going to be more like the comics with that real world, kind of like Batman Begins but more humorous. It still looks fun, but I would have preferred the more "real world" tone of the comics.
  • Did you actually read the comics Alex, or are you just trying to look hip? Methinks the latter. Either that or you only read the first issue.
  • Han
Why are you being a douche? Jesus christ, chill out. He was only stating his opinion.

You give fanboys a bad name.
  • AlexTamayo
No Brad, I actually have all 7 of them so far. But from what I got out of the comics I thought it was in a kind of realistic world setting. I mean, it is still a comic book and still has plenty of fantasy stuff but I felt it was very grounded.

Then again, that was my perception of what I read, I could have misperceived the actual setting or it could be a matter of opinion.

Regardless of that, I really like the trailer, I'm not really complaining about it. I just thought that the action scenes had some physically impossible things that makes the film a bit less grounded in my opinion.

Again, this is all my opinion, not really criticizing, I'm very exited about this film myself
  • Not sure what you're talking about, if anything the movie sort of tones down the blood-painting of the comics. (We saw several clips already at Comic-Con)
  • Finally! Been waiting for this trailer since I saw the footage at Comic-Con.

Never thought I'd hear a See-You-Next-Tuesday spoken by an adorable 12 year old girl. I may be able to die happy now.
