Inception
/Film reader Keaton M sends along word that a viral for Christopher Nolan’s Inception has begun, and revealed the first one sheet for the film. Here is how it happened:

“Well the spinning top as fallen on Inceptionmovie.com which reveals a mini game called Mind Crime where you can create a maze for people to play around in. After completion you are rewarded with the first poster.”

Check out the full poster after the jump.

The film’s logline is “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.” The rumored plot claims “Inception is about entering peoples’ minds/dreams. A technology to do so has been developed and is done through an injection. DiCaprio and his team work to enter the minds of other characters in order to retrieve/plant information.”

Inception features Leonardo DiCaprio as Jacob, a CEO-type, Marion Cotillard (La Vie en rose, Public Enemies) as his wife, Ellen Page (Juno) as a young college grad student named Ariadne, who is also DiCaprio’s sidekick, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Arthur, an associate working for DiCaprio. Ken Watanabe will play the film’s villain, a man named Saito, who is blackmailing Leonardo DiCaprio’s character. Tom Hardy (Bronson) plays Eames, a member of DiCaprio’s team. Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Sunshine) plays Fischer and Michael Caine is also involved.

theres a peace sign in the top right window!! what does it mean???
  • Can't wait to see what Nolan has conjured up.

Man, I love Nolan! Look at that poster and tell me your not intrigued and pumped to see what the hell Nolan's got up his sleeve. I love the visual too, for some reason I've always wanted to see an action movie where a whole metropolitan city was flooded by water, Hard Rain and The Day After Tomorrow do not count. Easily my most anticipated film of 2010.

This is fantastic. The viral seems just like TDK viral and seems exciting. And yes, the poster seems very much like the Joker one, but still very good.

    Can't Wait!

So, judging from that poster I guess the "crime" referred to in the tagline is forgetting to turn the tap off.
  • FunkyMunkey
Love it. I'd actually completely forgotten about this film.

    Can't wait!

This movie is going to kick ass! Most anticipated movie of 2010!
  • I love the subject of this movie. Paprika-esque, I like to call it.

I'm excited for this pic. Go Nolan!
  • ScanCase
You can't believe how excited I am for this movie. Nolan loves dissecting the human brain and this might be his final thesis on the matter.
  • You do kinda get the feeling that this may be the Nolan film to be looked back on. I mean he has basically unlimited ability to do as he pleases. He is smart enough to know that it is unlikely he will ever get that chance again. He is working off his own original concept for the first time since Following. And it supposedly carries on with the dark psyche motif he has filmed over and over again.

We just have to see the film to see if this is how it'll pan out.

This is a whole spin on the Minotaur and the Labyrinth from Greek Mythology. Ariadne was the Minotaur's half-sister.
  • RosanatorDA
interesting theory, especially with the mazes being so prominent.

Can anybody make out the safe combination at the end of the game? I get the feeling that it could be a clue.

James Cameron and Christopher Nolan are the only film directors who have never made a bad movie in each of their directing filmographies. Even Speilberg has made some bad movies !!! (1941, AI)
  • MarkoP
What about Brad Bird? What about Jason Reitman?
  • clarencesomerset
That's because both choose their projects very carefully. Cameron only has Piranha 2, T1, Aliens, T2, The Abyss, True Lies, Titanic and now Avatar to his credits.
  • Kyle C.
Man, I'm sick of people always mentioning Piranha 2 like their cool for knowing that. If Cameron himself doesn't count it as one of his films, because it was taken away from him by a producer, than I don't count it either. That's like saying Superman 2 was directed by Richard Donner. Cameron has made seven films now including Avatar and every one of them is damn good, though I'm not a fan of Titanic but I respect the technical achievement.
  • clarencesomerset
Cameron likes to talk about it as a great learning experience for a novice filmmaker, so why not? Or are you Cameron's spokesman?
  • James Cameron directed The Abyss.
  • MickJ
    Aw, hey now.

    James Cameron directed Piranha 2.

I agree, though I don't think A.I. is a bad movie at all!
  • Maughtry
Yeah but compare the amount of movies they've made to Spielberg. I'd rather deal with a few rare let downs than wait ten years between movies. And Nolan, as good as he is, has only been making movies for a little over ten years. I mean Spielberg has more movies on AFI's top 100 than any other director, including Hitchcock.

Plus "1941", as terrible as it is, was at the start of the man's career so you've got to give him a little slack. And I stand behind the fact that "A.I." isn't a bad movie. A hit? By no means but not a complete misfire. It's got a %73 on Rotten Tomatoes. "Always" is definitely worse. That being said Cameron and Nolan are awesome and deserve a lot of respect.

Kubrick? Reitman? Paul Thomas Anderson? The Coens?

    *Looks at name*

    Oh... Nevermind..
  • Frederik
FMJ is not a BAD movie, but it's not really as good as other Kubrick movies.

    The Coens made Ladykillers.
  • I nominate Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton, and Brad Bird there, too.
  • I love my Pixar, but add Miyazaki onto that list. He has made sooo many perfect films.
  • Oh God yes.

Anyone else getting a James Bond-esque feel to this movie? I mean its no secret that Nolan is a huge fan of On Her Majesty's Secret Service and the skiing scenes are definitely influenced by that film as well. Not to mention there seems to be a lot of high intensity action and that pose that Leo is striking bares a distinct resemblance to Bond.

Also, I feel that Leo's character has a lot of Nolan's characteristics infused in him because this is Nolan's first completely original property since Following. So he has probably put a lot of himself into that character, Levitt was quoted saying that this film is Nolan's baby too, so I'm sure he has put a lot of himself into this movie.
  • mace
good point when i saw this poster i see Nolan instead of Leo. the clothes that learn wear and hair style remind me of Nolan characteristics
  • apw
    Based on what?

The character that Leo is playing and who Nolan are completely different.
  • Keaton M
you've obviously missed what i was getting at.
  • Keaton M
WHAT?! A character in a film and the director are different people? NO WAY?!?! I CANT BELIEVE IT! Thanks eagle eye, I don't think anyone could have made that connection. My assumptions are based on the fact that this is Nolan's "baby" and that the character Leo plays dresses and has a lot of similar attributes to Nolan himself. While writing the script Nolan probably sees a bit of himself in the main character as a lot of filmmakers do.
  • apw
Leo wears a suit. The character must be like Nolan.

That is your logic? Oh dear.
  • lukebyte
    Interesting, I hadn't considered that Keaton M.
  • Keaton M
I had a feeling that water was going to be a common motif in this film. This somewhat backs up that notion and damn do I love that font.
  • vader182
holy shit that's an awesome poster!
  • tim
This movie is gonna rock!! I'm more excited to see this than Iron Man 2.
  • will1138
Is that Nolan or DiCaprio standing there? Lol
  • Andrew
This look like a cross between the Dark Knight and Mad Men Season 3 posters.
  • Han
    aka the best thing ever?
  • Octoberist
    sexy
  • Aladdin Sane
Looks like the Joker Dark Knight poster. Or Public Enemies.
  • ake
Couldn't agree more. Much, much too similar but an incredible choice for the font on the title. Very into the Inception typography.
  • Alex
Yup. Almost exactly identical to the Joker TDK poster (but with the obvious differences).
  • Kyle C.
Yea, but it works! Every action movie's poster should have the main character standing like that surrounded by craziness. This, along with the trailer show that The Dark Knight was no fluke, Nolan is here and he's the new master of the anticipated blockbuster!
  • jason b
ummm, following, momento, the prestige, and insomnia proved that nolan was no fluke, long before we were ever blessed with TDK.

but yeah, he and his brother jonah are the real deal.
  • lukebyte
Indeed. I wonder if the same graphic designers were behind it? Also, considering the similar hair styles, it almost looks like that's Nolan himself standing there.
  • i was about to say the same thing.
