Planetadisney has a new international poster for  Walt Disney Pictures big screen adaptation of the popular video game Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. I really don’t like this poster at all, and especially the obnoxiously loud tagline “COURAGE”.

Meanwhile, videogamemaker Ubisoft is reporting a $109 million loss on $232 million in sales during the first half of its fiscal year due to a lack of major titles, according to Variety. But the company is betting on the new Disney movie and a newly announced tie-in video game sequel, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, which will be timed with the Memorial Day release of the film, to turn things around.

If you haven’t seen the previously released trailers, you should check them out: Domestic Trailer 1 and International Trailer 1. Check out the full poster after the jump.

Here’s the film’s official synopsis:

From the team that brought the “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films present PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME, an epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia. A rogue prince (JAKE GYLLENHAAL) reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (GEMMA ARTERTON) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

look for all the coverage on Prince of Persia in page 16!, oh wait, is not a magazine?
  • JJGittes
    Zero imagination.
  • JD
I'm pretty sure that this was originally optioned for the Brokeback Mountain poster.
  • CRASHkennedy
your avatar is orange and my avatar is blue.....

    ITS EVERYWHERE!!
  • Guest
what is this a Calvin Klein poster
  • MickJ
Haha, this. But my initial reaction was for cologne. This image would be scented as hell if it were in a magazine.
  • svart aske
Yet another shitty poster with just the face of the main character.
  • JD
    At least there's no ORANGE-BLUE!
  • i see a lot of black and red posters. does that count?
  • this font does not fit. i wanted to see a cool variation of the POP logo
  • tim
He's using this same poster to market his new cologne "Forever His".
  • the biggest flop of 2010. callin it.
  • tim
Oooh, i'm gonna have to go with Will Smith's "kung fu kid/karate kid remake" as my hopeful flop of 2010. I feel strongly that my "horse" will win in the stretch.
  • Im going to say Jonah Hex will capture it.
  • Nathan Name
Biggest flop on '10 is going to be Iron Man 2... book it
  • "Dad, remember that picture you let me use of Jake Gyllenhall in my Into to Computer Graphics class? Well check THIS out!".
  • Spike
    Ew, ew, ew.
    1. That half-faded font looks like a watermark
    2. The Disney logo really clashes with the font
    3. They just slapped the logo and slogan on with no thought given to composition whatsoever.
  • bomberman
is anyone else bothered by the coca cola text similarity?
  • the headline font does look very generic, like anyone could have made that on Photoshop. I hate it
  • actually i did make it on photoshop. jk. we should have a contest on /film on who can make a better poster.
  • I bet people on /Film could make even better posters...
  • Sam
Ain't It Cool did a contest like that- just user-created posters. Some of them were very, very good.
  • Allm0st
Lol second biggest slop of 2010 though I bet somehow it will do decent enough to spawn a sequel. 2010 was looking great until this shit was announced as well as that bullshit karate kid movie.
  • I have more of an issue with Jake Gyllenhall's poor excuse for a beard.
  • Peter R
Should put the chick up there if anything...jez
  • In the words of the Lollipop Prince. "Eww."
  • I like it. I don't know why, but i do. It looks very different from what you'd expect.
  • Finaldo
Of course it is different...it doesn't have any orange and/or blue in it!
  • That's not what i meant. I expected it to be "epic" with three people on it and Babylon in the background or something like that. You know, the usual stuff. Which would bore me to death. I applaud to the guy/gal who did this for trying something different.
  • Ci
They should change 'courage' with 'RESIGNATION'
  • hartman27
I have the courage, I just don't have the stomach.

Seriously, this looks like a perfume ad. Prince of Persia...by Disney
  • saleri
I wander if anyone actually knows that Persia is Iran. Imagine if it was called "The Prince of Iran"...how many Americans would want to see it then...
  • munja
    tagline should read: STONED

think it would fit those vacant eyes better...
  • For crying out loud, this is Disney! Surely THEY have enough money to produce a creative movie poster! I just want to vomit.
  • Usually there's at least SOMETHING to take away from a bad poster. But this takes the cake. It is just confusingly pointless from top to bottom.
  • freemachine
    The poster says absolutely nothing.
  • Nathan Name
    WORST... HEADLINE... EVER!!
  • a photoshop amateur could do way better

needs more orange and blue, got to have more orange and blue
  • cheri09
I strongly suggest you go to sugarloves. c o m , where i have met many single sugar beauties and rich men, who love chatting sports vedios and nice music online .. .
  • not
i havnt been following this film at all but have many people complained that for the prince of PERSIA they should probably have an arab to play him ?? i know its disney and all that, but i thought it'd be a bit different from aladin!
  • if anyone's interested, I actually have US versions of the poster as well as the Ben Kingsley REVENGE poster with dates and all at http://www.stitchkingdom.com/2009/12/02/new-hi-...
  • But seriously. Why Obamafont?
