Sharlto Copley’s A-Team Birthday Cake

cakeateam

Many of you know Sharlto Copley from his feature acting debut in District 9 (speaking of which, am I the only one crazy enough to believe that Copley should get some recognition for his performance come awards time, but realistically won’t). Copley is playing Capt. ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock in The A-Team movie.

/Film tipster Jimmy Jab sent over this photo, which he claims features a cake Copley’s mother sent to the set of The A-Team for her son’s birthday (Sharlto turned 36 on November 27th). The cake features a photo of a young Copley who was celebrating his own birthday with a cake featuring Mr. T as A-Team member B.A. Baracus. How cool is that? Check out a photo of the full cake after the jump.

  • Hahahaha, I saw this on his Facebook page. It's awesome. He actually know's his source material for the movie he's working on!

    FOOKIN CAT FOOD CAKE, MAN!
  • Adorable! I <3 Sharlto! Give that man an Oscar.

What's ironically weird is that the (original) cake has got mini South African flags stuck in it. How surreal is a B.A. Baracus birthday cake during 1980s apartheid, man? All hail the power of Mr. T.
  • Zak
    that's a paradox!
  • Rockie
    here comes the sweetie man

    this is just amazing
  • The Guest
He mentioned the picture recently and said it was taken on his 11th birthday.
  • Chris Mackey
I'm surprised a blackhole didn't open up in the middle of the set and erase such a temporal paradox from existence.

    That's really freakin' cool.

Now we need a picture of grownup Sharlto grinning over the cake of him as a boy grinning over the cake. Then when he is an old fart and starring in The A-Team 7, they can bring him a cake of him as a 36-year-old looking down at the previous cake of the previous cake.

    (Everybody get that straight?)

Haha, it will be kind of like Steven Colbert's wall portrait.

I definitely think he deserves some recognition. Ever since I saw his performance in August I've said he needs an oscar nom. I voted in the People's Choice Awards simply to nominate him and Duncan Jones for Moon.

Last weekend I sorted out my shed and found 2 pristine BA Barracas posters. I'm wondering though if he has had to change his accent for this. I hope not.
  • The Guest
He is using an American accent for this. Saw a snippet of it on TV. Sounds Kentucky-ish.
  • Money_Talks
It's a shame in some regards, but heck consitancy in characters are what the fans are gonna want so I can understand that.
  • RainMan
Sharlto should definitely be mentioned in the best actor race. District 9 period deserves some love. If some bullshit like Star Trek nabs a best pic nom over D9 I'll be pissed.

Im happy he decided to take on another acting role. I hope he does just as good as he did in district 9. I have high hopes his acting ability surpasses that original role. And I hope he gets many great roles in the future and goes on to be a great big star that everyone loves :)
