New Human Target Promo Trailer

Human Target

Fox has aired this new promo trailer for Human Target starring Mark Valley (Fringe) and Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), the television series adaptation of the DC Comics Vertigo-label comic. Watch it now after the jump.

The new event drama, HUMAN TARGET, premieres with a special preview Sunday, Jan. 17 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) following the NFC Divisional Playoff game. HUMAN TARGET is a full-throttle, action-packed thrill ride from executive producers McG (”Terminator Salvation”) and Simon West (”Con Air,” “Tomb Raider”). Based on the popular DC Comics graphic novel and starring Mark Valley (FRINGE), Chi McBride (”Pushing Daisies”) and Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley (”Watchmen”), the series follows CHRISTOPHER CHANCE (Valley), a unique private contractor who will stop at nothing even if it means becoming a human target to keep his clients alive.

Wow, from executive producers McG AND SimonWest!!! Two icons of quality productions. Let's hope that something good comes out of this union.
  • I managed to see a copy of the pilot a little while back and the show seems pretty interesting. They sort of just plop you right into the world and hope that you connect the dots as to who these people are, how they came about doing this 'job', and what their relationships are as well, so that leaves a little bit of mystery about what's going on (but not really in the best way though). Jackie Earl Haley's character is just odd... it feels like someone took the tough guy badass elements of Rorschach, and combined them with the geekiness a librarian. It's kind of like a very odd characterization of 'speak softly and cary a big stick.' The pilot also features Tricia Helfer, who I love seeing on screen, but it's still slightly awkward to see her as anyone other than Number Six.

Unfortunately, the show just has that type of feel that it's not going to make it. Like I said, it's an interesting concept, but it feels like it lacks a really strong hook. Hopefully the show can chug past the pilot and first few episodes and last into a full season at least, so that we can really figure out who these people are, instead of getting bogged down in the somewhat disposable serial and procedural elements of the show.
  • show will not last

Agreed, and why the fuck are they not up-playing the fact that they have Jack Earle Haley in their cast? For a show that seems as terrible as this, they should at least cater to the geek audience so that we may recommend this show (if it's any good) to everyone else. But whatevs, we'll see how this pans out.

Im a fan of the Comic. And this aint it. The Human Target becomes the person he is protecting. He mimics all of thier nuances, habits, and behaviors, to trick the would be killer into thinking he is thier target and when the killer shows up he kills them. He has reconstructed his face to look like the target so often that he forgot how he really looks. He is not a traditional bodyguard as that clip would lead you to believe.

This clip is wack. Ima check out the show because Im a fan but this clip is wack.

What the hell, Jackie Earl Haley looks like Geraldo Rivera in that awful photo. This promo is realy dissapointing and makes the show look like utter shit. Too bad, it looks like it's got some good actors in it too. Won't last more than a few episodes, I garauntee it.

Anyone remember when they tried to do this as a tv show back in the early 90s? They were hoping it would be the next MacGyver. Didn't last very long though.
