Warner Bros has released the first official photos from Sylvain White’s big screen adaptation of the Vertigo label comic book The Losers, thanks to Omelete.

Originally published as a war comic feature set during World War II, The Losers was later re-imagined set against the events surrounding the war on terror. The Vertigo imprint version ran for 32 issues from 2003 to 2006. The Losers tells the story of a former Special Forces team who were betrayed by their handler Max, and left for dead following the conclusion of their operation. The team were forced to regroup and enter on a mission of revenge against Max, who has been using the CIA for his own interests.

More photos after the jump.

The Losers

The film adaptation stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, Columbus Short, Holt McCallany, Oscar Jaenada, Jason Patric, and Peter Macdissi. I’m still very skeptical about this film, and especially the “talents” of White, who helmed such films as Stomp the Yard and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer. I’m sure we’ll see a trailer on the big screen soon.

An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, “The Losers” centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team–Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar–find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

The Losers is set to hit theaters on April 9th 2010,

  • As an arab. i don't understand any word in the forth pic "the yellow one" it has no meaning at all "mother give day run or jump" and then copy and paste.
  • Lol, good to know. It's fascinating to see that comics get these things wrong so often. As a german i witness my language being raped many times in US comic books. Everytime Captain America beats up Nazis or they show a flashback scene where you can see Nazis talking german, or that one comic where Nazis talked about Hitler (Yeah, that's all germany is known for), most of the time it's not more than two words and they don't even get that right. I often ask myself if it's really so difficult for comicbook writes to get online and ask someone who knows.
  • but to think they would miss up like this in a movie is beyond me. A comic-book has a limited audience, but a movie will be in theaters worldwide, not even arabic, other languages as well should be vetted before screwing up. remember the Celtic in G.I Joe!

I'm pretty sure the yellow pic is from the comic. The characters silhouettes don't look like the characters in the above pic, plus 6 actors vs. 5 characters in the pic. Though I haven't read the comic yet, I'll probably be picking it up today with the minor story breakdown from today.
  • PotatoPope is right, the yellow one is from the comic book.

great to point that out they always do things like that
  • Wow, this actually looks really promising.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan? Count me in please.

    Yuck Zoe. Yuck.

Having picked up the series and finished it in one continous read, I am very excited by these photos. Jeffery Dean Morgan looks near perfect as Clay and I'll be darned if Chris Evans doesn't make one fine Jensen. With all fairness without anything to go on theirs no point in calling it a win, but its refreshing as hell to see a cast that looks fairly in-keeping with the comics.
  • caleb
jeffrey dean morgan and idris elba. eff yeah.
  • I'm thinking this could find some traction on the back of Stallone's The Expendables... assuming that finds success, of course. They seem similar to me.
  • this is looking great....i m exiited bout this!!
