Series Returns with Two-Hour Premiere Event Sunday, January 17, on FOX

Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, Jennifer Westfeldt and Chris Diamantopoulos have joined the cast of 24 for the series’ eighth season. The Emmy Award-winning drama starring Kiefer Sutherland returns for its next astonishing day with a two-night, four-hour premiere beginning Sunday, Jan. 17 (9:00-11:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Season Eight will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. In this new day, CTU has been upgraded and is run by MBA-schooled and razor-sharp head honcho BRIAN HASTINGS (Williamson, “Forrest Gump”). COLE ORTIZ (Prinze Jr.), an ex-Marine who wants to follow in JACK BAUER’s (Sutherland) footsteps, runs the division’s Field Operations. Expert data analyst DANA WALSH (Sackhoff, “Battlestar Galactica”) collaborates with systems analyst ARLO GLASS (Boyd, “The Notorious Bettie Page”) inside CTU. ROB WEISS (Diamantopoulos, “The Starter Wife”) serves as PRESIDENT ALLISON TAYLOR’s (Cherry Jones) new chief of staff, and MEREDITH REED (Westfeldt, “Grey’s Anatomy”) is an ambitious journalist with ties to the unfolding situation.
As previously announced, Sutherland, Jones, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Annie Wersching also return. In addition, Bollywood icon Anil Kapoor (“Slumdog Millionaire”) makes his American TV debut as OMAR HASSAN, a Middle Eastern leader who comes to the U.S. on a peacemaking mission.

Please tell me they aren't going to have Katee Sackhoff behind a desk all season. Clearly it will be revealed that she's actually a badass superagent working undercover.
  • That's a pretty good cast. It's been a long time since I've seen Freddie Prince Jr. in a role.
  • The Addict
He looks kind of like if they'd mated Tony Almeda with Mason Verger from Hannibal these days though.

they're probably going to film something at the WTC, huh?
  • Some Guy
they've been filming a bunch of this season in downtown LA over the past several weeks. They filmed some guy getting shot in the head after a martial arts-y fight underneath my balcony in October. Most people don't seem to catch it when parts of LA double for NYC, I guess.
  • That freddy prince picture made me burst out laughing.. i do love me some 24 but to be honest it hasn't been THAT good in years.. years and years especially the last 3 seasons
  • The last 3 seasons? Seasons 6 & 7 weren't great, but season 5 was the best of the series.

Can't wait. Last season was the breath of fresh air the series needed. Hoepfully, they'll keep up the same level of quality.

Why so much 24 love? It's a TV show, and it hasn't been good in years.
  • Scott
Freddie Prinze Jr.? Between him, Ricky Schroeder and Sean Astin, I guess washed-up teen stars always have a home on 24.

i love this show and i have 24 Hours Seasons 1-7 DVD . got them a week ago from www.dvdsohot.com with good quality

I think that Freddie Prinze Jr has been drafted in to eventually take over from Keifer at the end of series 8. I know it is a little contoversial but Keifer was not exactly known as a tough guy before he did the original 24.

Of all of the new cast members, I am also looking forward to seeing FREDDIE PRINZE Jr. Of course, it all depends on what 'the writers' have in store for him. (Remember 'FBI Agent Larry') Started off kind of as a good role, he and Agent Renee seemed to have a thing going, then "Agent Larry"'s role grew grew weaker...and in a late season shocker - "TONY ALMEIDA" -- gruesomely finished him off.

I love Freddie Prinze! I loved him in "She's All That" !!! I want him/'Cole Ortiz' TO LIVE!

PS I love the new poster, especially Annie Wersching's 'Its whats up front that counts" pose.
  • Anil kapoor in this too....hmm...might be interested...

People can say what they want, I still think 24 is a really good show and that after 7 seasons. That's pretty good IMO. 24 and Jack/Kiefer rocks!!! Do NOT want it to end after season 8. The new peeps look good, the promos GREAT, and I can't wait!!! Bring it ON!
  • Freddie Prinze Jr. sure does like a rough and tough ex-marine caressing that Hybrid's taillight.
