Definitely the best podcast around and by far my favorite. You somehow have an intelligent conversation about movies without being snobby.
  • GreatBigLion
Goddamn /Filmcast; it's rare NOT to have a filmmaker on the show these days! I'm glad that you got Dan Eckman on the show, because without this site, I wouldn't have heard of "Mystery Team" and showed the trailer to others and "Demanded It!". Derrick Comedy = the shit.
  • Greg
Your 100% right! INK was phenominal, I reccomend anyone and everyone see it!!! It blew me away 4 days ago, im still thinking about it.
  • I guess I need to check out Ink!
  • kotaronakagawa
Dan, love the work that you do with the guys at Derrick Comedy. I think I watch "Bro-rape" every couple of months so I can get a good laugh out of it. Just watched the MYSTERY TEAM redband trailer and honestly, a minute into the trailer I underwhelmed by it, but I had the rug pulled out from under me. I mean, it starts off with guys in their mid-twenties in a kind of GOONIES/MONSTER SQUAD/HARDY BOYS kind of narrative and it ends with crack whores, gruesome murders, and guys dodging kill-shots from thugs; F#$%ing HILARIOUS! Looking forward to it now.

2012...2012... um. I was kind of reluctant to go watch it at first since, well y'know it looks like a particular kind of movie. I felt as if I was hesitant to go watch a porno flick in the theatres or something. But I guess since I was hoping that it was Emmerich`s comeback, I ended up paying my 10 bucks. And boy.. I guess I was entertained by the audacity/absurity of this mega-blockbuster. But then again, like many of you pointed out in the filmcast, it's a bizarre comedy. It's like one of those straight to DVD films (like Tornado! ) but with an insanely big budget. I think Mr.Emmerich may have even more potential if he plays for laughs even more. I mean fridge-nuking incidents may be cringeworthy within the context of canonized franchises, but it will be so awesome if an entire movie was aiming for that kind of cheeziness. I also concur that it would've been awesome if the arks went into outerspace and the earth exploded like in HITCHHIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY or something. As much as I am curious to see THAT movie...simultaneously if that kind of movie was ever released, that would be the day that the quality of films in the US film industry has died (sigh).

One a much lighter note, Chiwetel Ejiofor was awesome as always. Dirty pretty things, Children of Men, Inside Man, Red Belt, American Gangster, Kinky Boots? That man can do no wrong! It's pretty cool that he has a big role in American blockbusters now :)

    Anyway, great show.
  • Nokoo
How can you not mention Chiwetel in Serenity? He was an awesome and unique villain in that movie.
  • kotaronakagawa
Oh was he in Serenity? Sorry, I'm not really a Joss Whedon fan so I skipped that movie. I guess now that you mention it, it's worth checking out.
  • Nokoo
I'm not a Whedon fan either. Never cared for Buffy or any of that stuff. But Serenity just clicked for me.
  • i listened to the live cast of this and i'll probably listen to it again later this week.
  • T Frog
I can't believe 2012 is considered better than Transformers 2, I see both movies as the same mainstream movie only bad at different elements of film. The whole turn off your brain style of defense is become ridiculous.
  • The Great Cambino
Another great /filmcast. Nice job guys.
  • what a great podcast, added Ink pretty much right away and trying to find Mystery Team
  • Great show guys! Also, like everyone else on here has said, Dan Eckman was a very entertaining guest! Keep up the good work!
  • robtwister
My favorite part was the edited laugh response to Devindra's 'Three Ninjas' joke. It reminded me of a previous episode when the ominous Charlie Brown music got played suddenly from out of nowhere in the middle of the podcast.
  • Chris
Great timing, I didn't know Mystery Team was playing here in Phoenix so I'll definitely be checking that out this weekend.
  • Re: 2012 - honestly don't know how these guys could not mention the blatant anti-Catholicism in the film. The racist sterotypes in Transformers 2 were a big deal to many bloggers/online publications, yet religious persecution as shown in 2012 has gone by without a whimper. Quite hypocritical, especially considering Dave's criticism of The Invention of Lying.
  • Sgt Pepper
Maybe it went right over my head, but could you be more specific about the "blatant anti-Catholicism" you say is apparent in the film?? I really didn't sense that at all.

Anyways, the episode was really fun & definitely enjoyed the guest Dan Eckman. I'm sad I missed this live. Also, I'm surprised no one mentioned Woody Harrelson's cameo. I thought he was hilarious & wished he survived a bit longer.
  • ScanCase
I love how the guys hated the movie and loved it at the same time. Also Dan Eckmen is one of my fav guests so far
  • Barry
Good show. Good guest. And thank you Adam. Watched "Ink" on Netflix and I think it's one of my favorite movies of the year. The story sucked me in, it looked amazing and for a low budget movie the actors (Especially the little girl.) were really really good. Some movies are experiences, you know, as opposed to being just entertainment and this was one of them.
  • spazzedoutmuse
I love this podcast...listening is always one of my favorite activities!
  • 2012 is an awesome film! the only beef I got for it is that it's not even realistic... it could be when the world ends, but... :D
