VOTD: Star Wars Gangsta Rap Chronicles

BentTV, the guys who created the original Star Wars RapĀ viral video, have created a sequel of sorts: Star Wars Gangsta Rap Chronicles.

MCs Vader, Skywalker, Palpatine and Trooper are back with another edition of the hit animated series Star Wars Gangsta Rap. With surprise appearances from Leia, Lando, and all your favorite flow from a galaxy far, far away.

I’m not so much impressed with the lyrics this time around, but the animation is impressive, and the expanse of the Star Wars universe is pretty epic. Check it out now, thanks to Atom Films, embedded after the jump.

    Ooooooooold.
  • Dell
Star Wars is old, this is not.
  • Guest
just need Lil Jon to scream out "YEAH" and "WHAT" or even "OKAY"
  • babyjaypan
    if it was 2004
  • This is how old white men write rap. Just making sure the last word rhymes each time and flailing their arms around. :/
  • Darnot
Do you think Luke, The Emperor, C3Po and Obi Wan would rhyme like they are black? Use some brains.

  • Jake McKay
Is that link a gif of you edc3-dorko?
  • coopdaloop123
They just took a bunch of famous rhymes from famous rap songs and replaced them with new words...would have been more creative to just make their own T_T
  • Reality
Obviously you were to clueless to get it was paying homage to old hip hop classics Dr.Dre, Snoop Dogg, Rob Base, Ict T (Colors), etc etc.
  • babyjaypan
thats kinda what he was sayin
  • Colts
Well that's a dumb point because it would have been more creative to not do a Star Wars Spoof in the 1st place - if you use that logic
  • babyjaypan
it was cool too much mj and yoda's verse kinda sucked
  • Tech Warrior
Where did MJ have a verse? That's right he didn't. MJ did not rhyme in this entire film. You are pretty observant.
  • babyjaypan
Tech Warrior said "Where did MJ have a verse? That's right he didn't. MJ did not rhyme in this entire film. You are pretty observant."

wow hahaha...i never said he did. didn't you see him dancing in like two or three scenes man? YOU'RE the observant one
  • ProBones
A verse is musical terminology. So you mean a scene not a verse.

Actually I loved the ending when Yoda busted out Skee Lo
  • John Dobson
Yea I get what you're saying about MJ being in a few scenes but I think it was good. He moon-walked into the Rancor pit then came back a ghost later like Obi Wan. That was pretty funny and where else does MJ belong - but in Jabba's freak show gallery - a perfect fit.

Yoda biting lyrics. Not cool. So...who's flow was the illest?
  • The Professor
There is a difference between biting lyrics and paying props to old classic hip-hop songs which is clearly the case here as I saw an interview where they said they intertionally paid respect to old classics.

There is not difference in this and NWA back in the day using the line "it's not about a salary, its all about reality" which is a KRS-1 line - but they were playing props too. Further to that, this is obviously a parody which in its definition is a spoof of popular culture.

    Its freaking comedy, quit hating.
  • fanboy_d
It was a freaking joke, Yoda's not real.
  • Doug D
Yes he is - he talks to me when no one is around
  • deuce
its been done to death. /wrist.
  • Dreambot
Let's see - there were 2 films before this that were Star Wars Gangsta Rap but the 2nd one was just reworked animation so its been done 3 times with this being the 2nd song.

Hmmm so anything more than 2 or 3 is done to death? weak point.

Maybe you should just say Star Wars is stale.
  • tsox
The rap wasn't great...but the animation was pretty awesome for an independently made cartoon.
  • Midwest Killer
It's a comedy Star Wars spoof. I don't know, are you expecting Jay Z or something? I thought it was well made through and through and for one guys doing all the voices and rhyming it was good. Tupac was a great rhymer but even he couldn't make all those characters voices and not make it cheesy and besides, its meant to be cheesy obviously.
  • SK47
Peter, I agree with you, the animation is better but they lyrics are not as witty as the first one.
  • Doug D
I think its still great. The animation was awesome, the beats were cool, the impersonations were pretty good and it was funny.

I don't think the could copy the first one because it told the story of Star Wars and Empire. Jedi is lame so it seems like they just had them bust some old school style rhymes. Still better than 99% of the lame Star Wars fan films out there.

You are all just jealous of Darth Vader's boots and gloves, LOL
