Kick-Ass Character Posters

Kick-Ass

Lionsgate has premiered the first official posters for Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of Mark Millar’s comic book Kick-Ass on IGN. The posters come in the form of four character posters, which combine to form the title of the movie. I love the fact that the posters are not even trying to win audiences with the names of the actors involved, and are instead going in-story with the character credits like “DAMON MACREADY IS BIG DADDY” instead of saying Nicolas Cage.

Official Plot Synopsis: A twisted, funny, high-octane adventure, director Matthew Vaughn brings KICK-ASS to the big screen. KICK-ASS tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name — Kick-Ass — assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There¹s only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers. His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).

Kick-Ass hits theaters on April 16th 2010.

Still wish it was coming out sooner.

I wish the comic would come out more than once every 3-4 months. It's been about 18 months since the first issue, and only 7 issues have been released thus far.
  • # 7 is the end of volume one. it's gonna be a real long time before we get any more. most likely a year or even 2.
  • xfloormattx
#7 is not the end of vol 1, there's going to 8. The last issue comes out Dec 9. They're all going to be in 8-issue arcs, I guess that's how Millar likes to work (Like Old Man Logan).

    Character posters are so unimaginative.
  • *yawn*

I've gotta give it up for not showcasing the actors. overall the posters aren't that great though. Is that Rufio? Where is the trailer?
  • Bugaboo
Boring, shock value comic = boring shock value movie.
  • 'technically', he doesn't really choose his name the way the synopsis makes it sound. but thats just a nit pick.

I REALLY don't like Mark Millar, but i will check this movie out.

Why all the negative views of Mark Miller's film? I heard nothing but praise when the film premiered at Comic-Con? What happened between then and now???
  • Antihero
Didn't you get the IM? It's cool not to like things that other people like. Movie fans are slowly becoming the anti-fans. Cynical and forgetting what it is that they used to love about movies in the first place.

I for one am really looking forward to this, but wonder how they will handle the revelations revealed in issue 7.

This movie looks dumb. The comic is awful.
  • keesvd
Yeah, I really see how you can judge a movie's intelligence based on character posters and a synopsis.
  • Slatters
Yes, I really can form a judgement about the look of this movie from plot synopsises and pictures.
  • i saw this tonight. the movie has some problems.. but for every little issue i had with it there were usually two or three great parts to make up. its refreshing to see a film like this.. the characters are all fun, the action is great.. most people who watch it will not be disappointed. plus, cage.

i love them. it's like they're trying to be epic, but purposely failing. It's like epic super hero pose over the city, but in lame costumes, which is kinda funny and interesting.
  • I'm excited for the movie. The trailer (got taken off the web) was really cool. A lot of slow motion and action. Anyone else?
  • keesvd
I'm with you. The shot where 'hit girl' reloads her gun by throwing ammo in front of her and catching it with her gun in slow-mo, wow.. You can just hear the audience wow'd shitless...
  • I don't know anything about the comic, but I have to admit these posters defiantly caught my eye when I saw it. Can't wait to see the Trailer when it comes out!
  • kelsey
what i wouldva paid to be Big Daddy for halloween, darn. oh well next year. posters look good by the way
  • Brian Fellows
Pretty good posters. I love the comic so I'm really glad that they left out the actor's names on the poster and chose to go with the character names. Trailer please?
