zuleikha robinson lost

If you had issues with the V series premiere tonight, there is a chance that the series could get better as the season goes on, especially now that we’ve learned that Chuck executive producer/writer Scott Rosenbaum will be taking over the show as executive producer/showrunner. The fledgling series is no stranger to creative struggles. Original showrunner Jeff Bell (Angel, Alias) was replaced in the summer by Scott Peters (The 4400), who also wrote the pilot. Peters will continue working on the show, but the heavy lifting will now be Rosenbaum’s duty.

This is good news for V, because the show could certainly use some polishing. Even though we had heard that the pilot was getting slightly reworked, I didn’t see much of a difference from the version we saw at Comic-con. The dialog is still clunky as all hell, and as much as I loved Elizabeth Mitchell in Lost, she remains completely devoid of personality in the pilot.(And yet, it’s still better than Flash Forward). We’ll be seeing three more episodes of the show this month, and then it will go on hiatus for the holidays.

I just hope that the loss of Rosenbaum doesn’t adversely affect Chuck too much. That show has a lot of other talented writers and producers involved, so I have faith that they can keep up the quality this season.

On a quick casting note, Dark UFO is reporting that the delectable Zuleikha Robinson, who played the bounty hunter Illana on Lost’s most recent season, is joining the series as a regular cast member. Robinson was a cast member on Rome, New Amsterdam, and The Lone Gunmen (man, I miss those guys) previously. I also loved her in Mira Nair’s The Namesake.

Robinson plays strong and mysterious characters quite well, and even though she didn’t get much of a chance to shine in Lost yet, I’m glad she’ll at least have many more opportunities to do so.

i really enjoyed the pilot, but i'm gonna give more than one episode before i even say it's better than Flash Forward (if it is at all)

Lost: In addition to Zuleikha, Jeff Fahey (Frank Lapidus), Nester Carbonell (Richard Alpert), and Emilie de Ravin (Claire Littleton) will all also be regulars in the final season, bringing the total to 15.
  • It may just be show starvation rearing it's ugly head, but I really enjoyed the pilot. I completely agree with the comments about clunky dialogue, and felt little to no chemistry between any of the actors/characters in a majority of the scenes. However, I have a feeling that's mostly due to the fact this WAS the first episode, and believe it'll get progressively better. I think "V" has some massive potential, and I really hope it all gets utilized well; I need something new to look forward to every week/season!

You guys should correct this article. Scott Rosenbaum was not a show runner on CHUCK. He was a writer and was given executive producer credit like all the writers on the show (Josh takes care of his people). Though, his going to V can only do positive things for the show, CHUCK fans will not be happy to lose him as he is a brilliant writer.

Okay, V. Liked about 10 minutes of it. The rest...well, it was just the first two hours of the 1983 original mini compacted into about 35 minutes. Nothing wrong with that but it had crappy dialogue, weak characters, and some stop, did that just happen, goofball moments. I just don't think people would be that copacetic about giant motherships appearing over 29 major cities around the world, especially in New York. Fuck that. But that's just me. And the FBI agent's son and his friend, just stupid. However, I did like the fact that some humans know about the Nazi lizards being on earth previous to the invasion as an advanced guard. Seems the lizards have set up shop and been power players in key positions around the world for a few decades causing all sorts of chaos. This is right out of that fringe whackjob David Icke's playbook. Damn cool. And Morris Chestnut's lizard-traitor (PRODUCERS: "Hey. let's make Martin from the original one black, okay because we all loved him and Elias from the original too and we'll be able to have a token black character.") is probably the best character. So the chick from Lost is Julie and the dude from 4400 is Donovan ala the old priest from V: The Final Battle. Martin and Elias have been rolled into one character too. Cool. Probably won't last another two episodes but you never know...
If it lasts, I would love to see that the aliens are not after us to eat us. That Anna's character arc is not like Diana's from the original. And I would love to see the aliens' actual enemies, i.e. another alien races, maybe grey aliens. Wouldn't it be cool for the season finale of this show, the Visitor's badass enemies show up and destroy a couple of motherships and in return the landscape changes and the Visitors' freak? Now that would be a helluva twist.

V was boring. I tried watching it but my mind began to develop increasingly numb.

#1- FlashForward is the best new show this year.

#2- V was horrible. I watched a lot of the original mini-series on SyFy over the weekend and I thought that a remake, now, could be so much better. Unfortunately it had the same horrible acting, writing, pacing, etc as the original. If it wanted to be a show about aliens coming to earth, BE THAT... but it tried being that, and a cop drama, and a family drama all at the same time and failed miserably. I had high hopes from the spots ABC had been running and the 4 minute teaser on /Film a few days ago but it was just... bad. I'm gonna give it another episode to see if it pulls anything together but I'm highly doubting it.

As long as Ilana doesn't turn out to be the next Ana Lucia I think we'll be fine :)
