Apparition and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group have announced that they have decided to expand The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day “nationwide to additional markets” on November 13th 2009. The film grossed over $500,000 this past weekend in just four markets: New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Philadelphia, with a per theater average of over $8,000. Because of the demand/fan base, the studio has announced that they will be opening the movie wider on November 13 to additional cities including Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Atlanta, Houston, and more.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is the much-anticipated sequel to the indie cult classic, The Boondock Saints. The film is the continuation of writer/director Troy Duffy’s tough, stylized cutting edge saga of the MacManus brothers (Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery). The two have been in deep hiding with their father, Il Duce (Billy Connolly), in the quiet valleys of Ireland, far removed from their former vigilante lives. When word comes that a beloved priest has been killed by sinister forces from deep within the mob, the brothers return to Boston to mount a violent and bloody crusade to bring justice to those responsible. With a new partner in crime (Clifton Collins Jr., Star Trek) and a sexy FBI operative (Julie Benz, TV’s “Dexter”) hot on their trail…the Saints are back!

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is written and directed by Troy Duffy, starring Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus, Billy Connolly, Clifton Collins Jr., and Julie Benz. Produced by Chris Brinker and Don Carmody, and executive produced by Lloyd Segan and Rob Fried.

The Boondock Saints: All Saints Day will opens wide in theaters on Friday, November 13.

  • I had no hopes for neither the quality nor the box office potential of this sequel...the film is a sequel that holds up to the original (that last scene especially caught me off guard), and the fan base is responding in kind. Happy surprise.

Amen. I wasn't able to make it to Boston this weekend and the thunderous lack of buzz (/film excepted) had me worried that a national release wouldn't be happening. to-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra!

To everyone asking about release dates in certain areas - Read the goddamn article. It says the nationwide release date twice.
  • Billy Carlyle
It doesnt say the nationwide release date asshole! It says the "nationwide release to additional markets"! That means the release date of November 13th will be to another select few places. Guess instead of getting on BDS fans asses you should really read the goddamn article again or at least not be illiterate one.
  • mbellerbrock
No, it says "additional markets" not "all markets." Their concern is valid.

I am really please that people all over the country have gotten to see this. THE biggest Irish catholic communities in the USA are NY, Chicago, and BOSTON! WE have to wait for the DVD release, Maybe it's marketing, maybe that's why it isn't showing around here, where it was filmed. For those of us in Boston, where we live , related, recognized the area, and got the accents (feck the departed), We deserve to see this. The nearest theaters showing this are 40-50 miles from Boston. If Sony wants us to buy the DVD...... I've got it in my queue from net flix for march. Remember, "People that live in glass houses...." . Make like a tree....", and "I think the monsignor finally got it". To SOny... POGUE ME HOIN!!
