ET’s Iron Man 2 Set Visit Footage

Entertainment Tonight has posted a 5 minute feature on their visit to the set of Iron Man 2, which features a mix of cast interviews with Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle and Jon Favreau, and a lot of behind the scenes footage.

Robert Downey Jr. explains how and why Tony Stark first meets Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) on a race track, while Scarlett and Gwyneth vaguely discuss the love triangle. We see a couple explosions and a bunch of Whiplash-generated destruction. Watch the set visit video embedded after the jump.

At least ET kept down their obnoxiousness levels to watchable. Although giving more emphasis to the "love triangle" was a bit of a waste. They could have spent that time asking Cheadle about War Machine.

Overall not bad. Would have been nice to see more of Starks new armor but not to shabby for an on the set visit.
  • ET's viewers don't even know who War Machine is, let alone care. Hence the focus on the love triangle.

they could have at least done 5 minutes of research to know that it's "Natasha" not "Natalie".....
  • Craigasorusrex
    That was annoying.

The worst part was that they didn't only say it once but every time they mentioned her.

Although her name is also Natalia but that hasn't been used in a while. Its possible that she might be referred to as "Natalie" at first and then uses the Natasha name later...

Or it could just be ET being lazy.

yeah most likely she will be called "Natalie" just some of the movie. i remember in a interview that Scarlett Johansson will not use the Russian accent and shes going to be undercover as a typical american girl so her name going to be a non-russian name thats most likely "Natalie". her really name in the movie is going to be Natasha Romanoff and the undercover name is "Natalie".

Dear lords that reporter calling her "Natalie" over and over was aggravating.

    Otherwise great stuff.

    He he! Nerds!

I wonder if all the yo-yoing with weight and muscle mass has any long term problems for actors. I don't think I'd like to keep going up and down like that, I'd feel like my body was a piece of property and not my own. I admire the discipline involved.

I imagine for someone at Robert Downey Jr.'s level there's a professional keeping an eye on things and mapping out a plan for how to gradually shift the diet. A third stringer character actor getting bit parts on and off again might have a harder time of it though.

At least its not Christian Bale-style weight changing!
  • Anything ET just makes me want to jump out a window. No, it was not worth sitting through. They could make the most esteemed professional director or actor sound cheeseball with all their whooshing graphics, eye-rolling sound effects and retarded f*cking questions.

Anyone else notice the Iron Man suit(case)?

yeah i notice the iron man suitcase i know what you talking about ;-)
  • I work for ET and I was so disappointed we didn't do anything with Sam Rockwell. I completely agree with all of these comments and complaints.
  • Was he on the set that day?
  • I'm not sure, but we did extensive coverage and he is not in any of it.

More importantly, how's the water down there Brian? Shallow?

Gwen needs to shut her truly annoying mouth. And ET .... what more needs to be said. Awful.
  • That was a nice watch. I'm looking forward to the movie. Looks great.
Didn't actually mind the name-switching for BW1, but ehh...

Oh, but I definately didn't know Gwenyth was married to Chris... from Coldplay.
    Wow.

are u serious u didnt know Gwyneth Paltrow was married to Chris Martin from Coldplay where have you been. they been married since 2003
  • I don't really like to get too into other people's lives, regardless of how famous they are.
Feel happy for them, though. Six years is a pretty long time for them celebrity marriages.

There's been absolutely no new information on IM2 since Comic-Con. Everything in the ET clip covers scenes we already know about. Seems like they're successfully controlling their media coverage. I know Favreau was disappointed that he couldn't surprise anyone with the first film--even the "secret" Sam Jackson cameo was known months in advance. I'd be impressed if they could sneak something of that magnitude in without anyone finding out, but it seems unlikely.

Sam Jackson's cameo was known about in advance...? Really? I never heard a whisper of it at all leading up to the movie. I sat through the credits on the off chance they'd have an end-cap and when the house lights didn't come up it seemed likely they would. I still wasn't expecting that big a deal.

I wish I could get surprised like that by movies more often.
  • Me too - my boyfriend had to explain why that was such an awesome scene. I've read some comics, just not the ones in question here. Kinda lame, I would have loved to be as excited as the rest of the geeks. :)
  • I really enjoyed this little ET look. It gloriously covered some of what we knew and even humbly shined light on things we (or at least I) didn't know.

This just makes me all the more excited for its release.
