First Green Hornet Set Photos

greenhornet_cast

The Green Hornet started principal photography last week, and thanks to various sources we’ve got photos of stars Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou and director Michel Gondry on set, as well as a first look at Jay Chou’s stunt double in character as the Hornet’s sidekick Kato.

The photos come from CrazyCritics.com, SuperHero Hype and JustJared. The first set looks to be pulled from a behind the scenes video, showing Gondry, a dapper Rogen and Diaz hamming it up. In other photos, reproduced below, we see Rogen, Diaz and Chou in character in other scenes, and you can get a good idea of what Kato’s costume looks like from the shots of his stunt double. I like the look — classic Kato, not significantly changed.

The next sets have some possible spoilers, and though we know next to nothing about the Rogen and Evan Goldberg script, making it difficult to put the stuff together out of context, I’d guess that some of you might not want to see anything at all. Click through to the original galleries (here and here) to see all the images.

One of the scenes from which these photos come is an outdoor press conference, at which Seth Rogen’s character is shot in the shoulder. The other shows a the Hornet’s car wrecked, with emergency vehicles nearby.

In addition to Rogen, Diaz and Chou, the film features Edward James Olmos, David Harbour, Tom Wilkinson and (though he’s still in negotiations) Nicolas Cage. The cast and these photos are all we know for sure about the story besides the fact that it will be some sort of update of the character originally created for radio by George W. Trendle and later brought to life on television with Van Williams as the Hornet and a young Bruce Lee as Kato.

The Green Hornet opens on December 17, 2010, opposite stiff competition from Disney’s Tron Legacy.

I've never spoken up about The Green Hornet since I first heard about it (a long while ago), but, since when is Seth Rogen in to writing a film like this? Isn't comedy his niche?
  • I'm really interested in seeing Rogan in the Hornet costume, should be pretty interesting. Also, I don't think the stunt-double looks very much like Chou..... could just be me though.
  • You won't notice in the film that the stuntdouble isn't a clone of the actor.
  • Gelman
Are you suggesting all Asians look alike? Wow...
  • Seriously, that's what you got out of my comment? Wow... What I meant was that stuntdoubles rarely look anything like the actor, with the exception of bodysize/height and maybe haircolor. But as a viewer you don't really notice this when you're watching the film, if you think about it, have you ever seen a film where they zoom in on the stuntdoubles face?... You only notice that they look completly different when you stand them next to each other(and i mean ALL ETHNICITIES now). I hope you understand what I said now...

Could they have picked a worse leading man for The Green Hornet? Wasn't Clooney supposed to be the lead in this?
  • I think Clooney backed out when he discovered the suit he would wear didn't have nipples.
  • Frankly I'm amazed this is actually happening considering the crazy ride it went through ti get this far.
  • probot
    Cameron Diaz sucks...
  • jk90us
I'm sure she does, but not with you. LOL
  • Ok, I don't know it if I will look it in a cinema.
  • That's good wonder because worried was I. Phew.
  • @Captain_Howdy

    Ha. Nice reply.

These images don't give me any hard on.

I'm sure Jay Chou fanatics will bombard this post by describing his amazing talent(s). *puke*
  • supporter of jay
you can choose not to watch! *pukes at GREGORYV*

I think the movie should be scored by QT. It just feels like its need a kill bill sound track just that feel.
  • Ashitaka
The Crazy 88s in Kill Bill used the Kato masks as an homage to the Green Hornet, maybe that's why you think QT would be good for the score? I just don't think Gondry's vision is compatible with the RZA or QT - could be wrong though

Jay Chou stunt double really does not look abit like Jay Chou at all
  • PalmliX
He probably doesn't need to, depending on the camera angles.
  • Or the fact that all Asian people look alike, MIRITE?!

That was a joke, I promise!
  • PalmliX
Haha, well that wasn't what was I was implying at all, but logically speaking we tend to recognize the facial features of the people we grow up with, so if your white, and you grew up around mostly white people, it's going to be harder for you to distinguish between the faces of other races.
  • Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and pass until I see a trailer...
  • slumbergod
I'm going to pass even if I see a trailer. This is gonna be another lame, pointless remake of something that should have been left in a tin in some dingy, dank studio basement.
  • charles
It looks like it'll be good.
  • doctorfumanchu
i wonder if Jay Chou will bang Diaz in this.
  • Guest
that will never happen a asian male actor bang a white female actress in a big blockbuster movie the studios wont allow that. but if it was a white male actor bang a asian female actress the studio will allow that.
  • Ashitaka
Chou, Rogen, AND Diaz three-way might work!
  • Guest
3-way wont work if Chou ends up changing race to a white/black man in the movie then he got a better chance lol
  • clarencesomerset
Rain and Naomie Harris for now ...
  • Guest
Rain and Naomie Harris aint happening its been confirmed that Rain wont have a romantic relationship with Naomie Harris

    heres the video interview watch?v=hoSAIAj39lE

plus Asian guy and Black woman the studio wont let that happen it did not happen with Jet Li and Aaliyah in Romeo Must Die.
  • entertainmenttod
I must say I've always invisioned Seth Rogen as The Green Hornet. NOT
    He has to be kidding!
  • zoey
theyre doing this in current time?
i thought this was a pulp flick set in the 50s or something.
(not that i was paying any kinda attention to any of it anyway.)
no clue about this at all.
  • james7
Don't bash it till you see it, or Rogen for that matter. I remember when everybody was bitching when Downey Jr. was casat as Iron Man, everyone thought it should be that damn Jim Cavizel. Just wait an see folks, especially with Gondy on board.
  • BigWhiteRyan
My question about this movie has always been: Does this movie REALLY need to be made? Does anybody care? The amount of news on this film has far, FAR outweighed the potential of this idea.
  • Enthropii
Still not happy about Jay Chou... Fella's just another pretty boy with not enough talent to fill a teaspoon.
  • derek112
pretty boy? obviously u don't know much about jay. he became famous for his talents, he was first turned down because he was said no not be handsome enough. unless u can learn to play piano, drums, guitar, flute guzheng, bass guitar, cello... and whatever other instruments he plays, and then learn how to compose music, sing, direct movies, etc... then i suggest u don't say he doesn't have enough talent, and let ppl see whether he has talent or not.
  • john
Jeez, why don't you suck his disk already.
