Cool Stuff: Fan Created TRON Legacy Movie Poster

Tron Poster top fanmade

This movie poster for TRON Legacy is not an official release from Walt Disney Pictures. The poster was designed by artist James White, who has worked for such clients as Toyota, Armada Skis, VH1 Latin America and MTV.

Tron Fanmade poster

In his own words:

Here is my own Tron Legacy movie poster. I had a ball creating this and referencing as many elements from the new trailer that I could. This isn’t official by any means, but it would certainly be a dream job to design a poster for the film, especially since they slated the mighty Daft Punk to create the score. So if anyone at Disney reads this, give me a call :)

I wish I could buy a print of this poster and slap it on my wall. See more of White’s art on Signalnoise.com.

Looks great as a something associated with Tron, but pretty average as a standalone piece imo.
  • fan-art of a fan-art ... my Daft Punk addon :-)

  • Oh wait, James White? He is literally my favourite professional graphic designer and one of the biggest influences (aside from Scott Hansen). Good to see his work in here :)

His imposition of the Walt Disney logo is pretty shoddy, but an amazing poster that aside.

Have a better tag line already...

    Is it just a game?

Really cool, except the tag-line. Could be better.

Thanks very much for the post, Peter, and I really appreciate all the kind words on my poster design, everyone. Big thanks to you all!

Regarding the tagline, that was simply a line delivered by one of the characters near the end of the trailer. Might be a tad generic in hindsight :) I appreciate all the feedback.

    Thanks everyone!

Thats fucking awesome! Give that man a job!!! Real talented!
  • As a former art student, designer, and current writer, this is possibly the nicest, cleanest work of fan art (outside of the Drafthouse?) I've ever seen.

And this is slick as hell, given the nature of headline movies, and the fact that there's always an IMDB post that link's to someone's MSPaint joke on DeviantArt. Rad Mr. White.

And the only gripe? The tagline's a little lousy... But still!
  • Anrkist
It's missing big heads of all the stars in the movie.
  • Ya know. I'm OK with that...

Last thing I wanna see is Jeff Bridges making the Dreamworks Animation face, with a gun to his head (photoshopped out of course).

Damn it, that was "Iron Man..."
  • Dreamworks face... Nice one. Damn smug little grin...

it's great, but it's not actual poster proportions is it? that was only a tad distracting. talented work there.
  • clintstarkiller
Sweet and simple. More posters should follow that style. I would love it if filmmakers would allow fans to create the posters and just have multiple posters for theaters or advertising.

Too bad you can't buy this print, I'd love to hang it on my bedroom wall

    It's okay.
  • That's awesome.
