A Nightmare on Elm Street cropped

Warner Bros has released the first teaser image of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger in Platinum Dunes’ remake/re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street. Unfortunately much of Freddy’s face is hidden in shadow. You will notice that Jackie’s body is a bit smaller than Robert Englund, who played Freddy in the original Wes Craven film. You can also notice that Freddy’s ear is more like that of a real burn victim. Producer Brad Fuller says that another image will be released later this afternoon on IGN. So check back later. The image premiered on MySpace.

rom the little you’ve seen so far, what do you think of Freddy’s new look?

awesome! I think this movie will turn out better than the Friday 13th remake. Loved Haley in Watchmen.
  • Do It JACKIE!!!
  • Bill515
Not much to see. He pretty much looks like a 3/4:1 scale model of Robert Englund.
  • Rockie
    i agree

but i will watch JEH in anything

    repeat, anything
  • Merciful_budah
Bad News Bears go Down Under even?
  • Rockie
    anything
  • Captain Awesome
Haley was awesome as Rorschach. I have tons of faith in the new Kruger.
  • Definitely. He was amazing in Watchmen, so I have no fears over this performance. :D
  • industrai
i think Yay! Way to go Hollywood, another stupid f*****g remake!
  • AA5
Can't see much but it does what it is set up to do, and that is to give off an erie tone. i got goosebumps. Maybe its just the lighting but the claws seem to have retracting wireing on the wrist.
  • AA5
Poster up at IGN, and its antoher shadow image. yet it shows ALOT more.
  • Christ
...and the glove looks different, if you pay attention you can see some mechanical thing attached from the index finger to the wrist, it appears also on the shadow on the wall, like some kind of wire.

I love TNOES movies and I'm a fan of Robert Englund, still this looks good to me.
  • New Freddy Krueger looks like the original
  • leebridges
yea but if they changed it all folks would do is bitch
  • Believe me, I am glad they are not changing it too much.
  • leebridges
i hear that. also i just read he doesn't look like hes wearing make up he just look like a real burn victim
  • leebridges
iam not sure how the movie will be but you know jackie will bring the thunder
  • Merciful_budah
Well this picture is a let down. Awesome as this could be (and I cannot stress enough the word "could" in that statement), they need to give us a cleaner look at his face before people start getting excited.

Remember the Tri Star Godzilla teasers?

    DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU!
  • NickN328
Oh come on that's not really an image...
  • spinster
Yeah son, i have high hopes for this movie, but i been thinkin that
    Halloween 2 will do better
  • It's too hard to tell, what to think of it. I mean it's all dark and stuff ye know?
  • patrickcostello
Michael Bay is a fucking idiot
  • Joshua
    lol

Big fan of NOES, so I am hoping that the film will not be a let down. I know we will all miss Englund, as he has done the film some real justice (comical and otherwise). But from what I gather, this is supposed to be a much grimmer look at Freddy and less comical. Let's all see what will happen.
  • I think he could be a cool new version of Freddy. It time to make it new, in the last movies Freddy was a toon. It is time to go back to the roots.

Twitter ruined the world of comments. ...Twitter will ruin the world PERIOD!

    OFFTOPIC//OFFTOPIC//

i'm starting to hate "coraline" without having seen the damn movie ... why is this add on every f****** page i visit today?!
  • PrestonMeyers
Huge fan of the NOES series, and this is starting to look pretty good, but my only problem is his size. One of the scariest things in the original movies was his tall, lanky stature with the long blades at his side. Englund knew how to stand and everything to make Freddy terrifying.
  • freddy's new look? if no one said anything i would think it was the old freddy

    still cool though
  • Nesti
    meh.

i still would have preferred a pre-quel to a remake/retake of the first one.
  • jason B
i can't comment on the 'new look', because i can't see it. but from what peter and the collider guy have said, it sounds like a serious and responsible take as opposed to a run=of-the-mill slasher joke.

it goes w/o saying that JEH's involvement makes it beyond interesting and hopeful.
  • Wow, what a cock tease. There's nothing really to see. I'm eager to see the newer photo, but for now I might as well be looking at a cap from one of the old movies.
  • schatsi
damm u platinum dunes. this look like a drawing rather than a photo.
but like everyone said, Jacky boy was so good in his previous roles, this is just too good to be a fuckup.

    1,2 jacky's coming for you !
  • Looks good to me, although I'm not sure I'll see this one. Freddy always creeped me out because with the others I could just go to sleep and forget them, but Freddy comes at you in your sleep, and that always messed me up.
  • RyBread
it pretty much looks like the original freddy since you cant see his face or anything, im still very skeptical since i havent liked any of the platinum dunes reamakes as good as the originals and if they fuck up "a nightmare on elm street" imma be pissed cause the original is one of my favorite movies
  • RyBread
its neat but you cant really tell if its good since you cant see his face, im very skeptical since i dont think any of the platinum dunes remakes are anywhere near as good as the original and if they fuck up "a nightmare on elm street" (which is one of my all time favorite movies) i prolly wont watch anymore of their movies, but i save all judgement until after i see the movie
  • inzader
I have read the script, and it's not a good flick.

Some jump scares, but really, all it's got going for it is JEH
  • Joshua
That's silly. If I read the script for 'The Shining' it probably wouldn't scare me either. Filmmaking is sort of an important element of movies. We don't know what could be made of that script.
  • daveshere
    how'd you get the script?
  • If I were to pick anyone to play Freddy in a new version of Nightmare on Elm Street it would have been Jackie. He was brilliant as Rorschach in Watchmen!
  • ive got an autograph from robert englund on a hotel pad that says "bret, sleep killzzzzz". so JEH cant beat that!! lol

but i was never a big fan of the orginal movies so im not exactly thrilled for a remake.
  • topheavy
The look is very dark and shady.. it has an allure of mysticism and absolute what the hell am I doing?
  • Ashley_Dehne
I think the movie might turn out great, Im a freddy krueger fan! I think Robert Englund was a great Actor for the for the position of freddy. No offence but I can only think of Freddy being Robert Englund!
