New Iron Man 2 Photos

Iron Man 2

USA Today has published a bunch of preview photos from Iron Man 2. The photo above features Robert Downey Jr. as a very pissed Tony Stark, standing in wreckage on a race track. You might recognize the set-up because a similar photo was published in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. This is no doubt the aftermath of Whiplash’s destruction. Downey says that the sequel “is to be bigger than the first, but just as relatable.” More photos after the jump.

Below is our first real look at Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Stark’s former assistant who has since been promoted to CEO of Stark Industries.

Iron Man 2

A behind the scenes photo showing director Jon Favreau talking to Downey and Don Cheadle in a court room or government hearing set. In a previously published photo, we also saw that Sam Rockwell’s character Justin Hammer is also in the scene.

Iron Man 2

Head on over to USA Today to see a few more photos that have been previously published on the site (some if low res or blurry scans). Jon Favreau will be presenting a panel on the sequel at Comic Con this Saturday. We’ll be in Hall H posting updates as they happen, so please check back.

Wow, General Ross wasn't exaggerating. Stark does always wear good suits, no matter if it's anti-terrorist activity, a government hearing, or Formula 1 racing.
  • The suit looks good. He looks a bit pissed AND chilly.

"This was my favourite car. Now you die."
  • Kind of looks more to me like he's having an emotional breakdown. Him sitting down on the ground, holding whatever that is, legs crossed, staring off into nothing. He might be a little pissed, but I think he's having an emotional breakdown that drives him into an obsessive spiral.
  • Wouldn't that be more of slowly zooming out while he shakes his fists in the air and screams? If he's having an emotional breakdown, I wanna see at least one eye twitch.
  • This is Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, not William Shatner as Tony Stark. Plus eye twitches don't work too well in stills.
  • I was going more for the Christopher Reeve/Superman-scream. Nah, he's just a bit ticked off. Unless Pepper was with him during a crash or something and got hurt, he's just "damn, this ruined my day"-angry.
  • Sadly there will be no screaming at the heavens shots in this film; Wolverine used up the quota for the next 5 years.
  • Travis McGee
I hate how in every movie that features someone in the military, that the person has a slew of ribbons and decorations. It would be more realistic (and no less impressive) if he had half that. I should know, I served 7 years.

This is something I've always wondered about as well.

Well, he's working with Tony Stark. And, no offense to you, but I don't think Tony Stark would be doing much hanging out with guys lower in the ranks of command. And he once built weapons for the government, it makes sense he would be around a lot of people with high titles and lots of decorative pins. It actually makes sense to me, for this movie at least.

    Awesome!

Wouldn't it be great if they turned those pictures into a trailer, and then turn the trailer into a full-length film!

Just like the first Iron Man pictures!
  • They were playing with fire the first time, would they really risk angering the fans of these pictures by attempting it a second time?

/Film is so much better than AICN. No ego's. Gets updated more. Looks nicer. And we get pictures here more often. I find myself visiting that site less and less now.

Kinda got that Natural Born Killers intense stair going on....

Yeah SlashFilm is 1000 times better, better layout, better writers, better everything...I like Peter way better than Harry Knowles or whatever, Pete you just need to make it into Fanboys 2 now, who would play Peter though?...Danny McBride?
  • Dude. Is. Pissed! I can't imagine the destruction that is going to take place on that track.

is this one going to end with a giant robot death match again? will there be any true danger in this film? has anyone forgotten the way RDJ dissed TDK? (likely out of creative & monetary jealousy)

will probably be a very fun film, that - like its predecessor - does not really matter.
  • These are some amazing pics. Now I know Stark's reaction to the racetrack scene that features Whiplash. Yes! The first pic of Don Cheadle! Now if I could only see Justin Hammer.
  • wow..nice picture, i dont patient to watch this movie
