Watch This: Treevenge

Treevenge
Treevenge is probably the best short film I’ve seen on the film festival circuit this past year. The follow up short film from Yer Dead Productions Inc, the creative team that produced & directed last years award winning, and notorious Grindhouse trailer, Hobo with a Shotgun. Here is the official plot synopsis:

Treevenge details the experiences and horrifying reality of the lives of Christmas trees. Clearly, for trees, Christmas isn’t the exciting “peace on earth” that is experienced by most. After being hacked down, and shipped away from their homes, they quickly become strung up, screwed into an upright position for all to see, exposed in a humiliation of garish decorations. But this Christmas will be different, this Christmas the trees have had enough, this Christmas the trees will fight back. Treevenge could be a short film about the end of days for Christmas trees, or perhaps, the end of humanity?

  • chrismartintv
Uh is it just me or do the trees sound like Ewoks...especially the tree that gets purchased by the family. Maybe a little like Jawas too.

haha the intro music from cannibal holocaust Xd kewl
  • vladimus
Whatev. The overacting in the beginning was very off-putting. The end was still over-acted, but appropriate. This was the same thing that didn't let me get into the Hobo with a Shotgun trailer.

That said, I don't know if I'll ever look at a Christmas tree the same way again.
  • Natalie Portmen
In terms of the acting, I don't see what other option there is for a film with killer Christmas trees. Go over-the-top or go home!
  • swahili
Dammit Matthews, spend less time writing on message boards and more time preparing for your DJ voiceover in my movie.
  • babars_house
What The Happening should have been! Brilliant!
  • ff
Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson would approve!!!!
  • kip_mooney
Reviewed this for online newspaper Pegasus News when it premiered at the AFI Dallas Fest earlier this year. Great stuff.
  • Bill
    Damn, that's a long video.
  • Kyle
Wow, that was a very epic short.
  • TheMarquis
That was fantastic. Fully worth my 16 minutes of time.
  • Well, they've definitely captured the Christmas colours: red and green, in a cheery yet horrific way.

    Good fun!!!
  • This is exactly why we always had fake trees growing up!
  • Dude, I'll take this over The Ruins ANY day.
  • rockinrors
    Hahahah!
    These guys are brilliant.
I wonder how much this cost to make?
Nice homage to the Evil Dead tree rape scene.
  • Andrew
.... whoa. they went there. that was actually a huge let down.
  • israeliDude
    what a wonderful movie!!!!!!!
    laughed my ass off!!!!!
it's so obvious it was directed by Jew.....
now the rest of us Israelis need to pick up the ball and
make a movie about the revenge of poultry on Yom Kippur...
we can call it "Poultrygeist" or something....
  • Dardles
There already is a bad horror movie called Poultrygeist its great.
  • jasoneisener
Hey guys Jason Eisener here, just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who took the time to check out our short. Thanks for the feedback, i really appreciate it. Just wanted to let you know were working on our feature version of the hobo with a shotgun trailer, which we hope to go to camera this fall.
Well let you guys know how it goes!
    thanks again guys
  • Michael_C
I cannot fucking wait. Keep up the excellent work.
  • Matter P
You are one cold Canadian bastard and I don't know how you sleep at night doing such puerile things to children, women, and babies....

.... I also saw the one with the kid in the wheelchair. Really, I'm praying for you...

...but thankfully you do rest up enough to keep up the good work! :)
  • Robbstein
Cute little film. I liked it. The opening and end credit music is either the same or very similar to that from the 1970 film MARK OF THE DEVIL.
  • Ken
It's J-ROC from Tariler Park Boys!

    NIIIICE!
  • jonathan13
    one word delicious
  • tracefleeman
    awsome.
  • David
    O. M. F-ing. G. lol.
Whoever made this should be in a mental hospital! But, then again, I laughed at the whole, thing, so I should probably be there too! lol
'NO! It's Christmas! All I wanna do is FUCK!'
  • It points out the ridiculousness of our holiday tradition, but when the trees start to attack is as colossally stupid as everyone's acting. Its like a glorified youtube video.
  • zecki
what a load of shit - make something decent
  • Perfect short homage to what everything a campy horror gore film should be... but with trees. Superb work!
