Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Page 2 is a compilation of stories and news tidbits, which for whatever reason, didn’t make the front page of /Film. After the jump we’ve included 25 different items, fun images, videos, casting tidbits, articles of interest and more. It’s like a mystery grab bag of movie web related goodness.

I’m not actually sure what this video is. Apparently Ellen Page recorded a homemade music video for Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin with Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) and Har Mar Superstar. It’s… so… bad… but can’t stop watching…

M Night Shyamalan tells MTV that he’s still interested in making an Unbreakable 2, someday: “I am. I don’t know where all the parties are in the world. Sam [Jackson] is like ‘Mr. Comic Book’ now. And Bruce, I don’t know what he’s up to. I don’t know where Disney’s at in their head and what kind of movies they’re up for making. But yeah, I love that movie.”

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen doesn’t open till next week (midnight on Tuesday night, June 23), but as of today, the film already represents 45% of ticket sales on Fandango. Despite threats of a boycott and that pesky recession, a study released today shows “the 2009 Sundance Film Festival generated an overall economic impact of a record $92.1 million for the State of Utah, supported close to 2,000 jobs, generated over $18 million in media exposure and provided millions in tax revenue.” [nypost]

  • I think Shyamalan could redeem himself with Unbreakable 2. I love Unbreakable and think it's one of his best movies.
  • Agreed but i think it might cheapen the first one if they do make a 2nd one.
  • Or he could completely ruin it. I like every movie he's done aside from the last one... I can't even recall its name anymore, I've blanked it out. If his degression continues as it has... Unbreakable 2 would have no hope.
  • Ghostshadow
Might sound like George Lucas but did Shyamalan not always plan for the unbreakable series to be a trilogy?
  • M Night Shyamalan tells MTV that he’s still interested in making an Unbreakable 2, someday: “I am.

    WHAT? That's page 2 material??

I guess judging from Night's most recent list of released films, we shouldn't expect much of a sequel.
  • It's in page 2 because he's not saying anything new he hasn't already said before, and by the sound of it, its not going to happen any time soon, if ever.

Regarding M Night Shyamalan and "Unbreakable 2"...he desperately needs a hit ASAP or his career is over. I think getting Sam and Bruce back together for a sequel to what I though was Shyamlan's best film would be a great idea. "Unbreakable" was such a unique take on what superheros might be like in the real world. Hope he gets it made.
  • Lono
Totally agree about Unbreakable being his best film. I haven't really liked one since. The Village was ok I suppose although I saw the twist coming a mile away.
  • Logan
Damn Germans. They gett all the great things...

    That's a joke people. Still, that's awesome...
  • Does anybody think that The Last Airbender will become a trilogy?

I just don't have a good feeling about it, like it will open below studio expectations and further tarnish Shyamalan's career.
  • Merlin
The fact that the Schematic company has project titles like "Deathstar" on their whiteboard and actually saw the use of technology in Minority Report as beneficial instead of a dystopian vision of the future is at once frightening and insulting.
  • I really do hope Transformers 2 is as good as it seems.
  • skippy

-ellen page & friends: please please for the love of god look up 'timing'...

-since we're in the 'green era', i've always wondered what films do to offset the pollution that production explosions pump into the air. DOES ANYBODY KNOW? if so, thanks.

-awesome! before i even read the slugline, i thought, "damn this poster looks like one that would be used in a kaufman film"

-i feel that without the pressure of needing to 'twist an ending', that m night will remind us why he is such a valued filmmaker.

-and as always...latino review reminds me why i read & love /film. (actually the article was meant in fun - same as my comment ;)

Stjepan Sejic's TMNT is incredible. His take on The Masters of the Universe is equally impressive.

Love to see an Unbreakable 2, but I doubt it will happen. Although that's my favorite of his work, I think it's best for Night to just leave that one alone.

Oh, and Transformers:RotF also made another record for largest number of separate times mentioned in one blog post.
  • looks like the BoB bluray deal is done. :/
  • yeah i just saw this and went to the Barnes and Noble site and was utterly disappointed that its over with already.
  • I'm not loving the look of those Turtles..looks...weird. Not really feeling it.

Though Band of Brothers news is always good news!
  • smither
i think they look pretty bad ass!
  • ben
    they look great
  • that ellen page video was awful, god she sucks at singing and acting!
  • Lono
Ironic use of Journey is SO 3 years ago. And then the Sopranos finale made Journey actually cool again, so the video fails in its attempt at hipness. It probably seemed like a great idea when they were all stoned though...and the dude in the video actually sings better than both of the girls combined. Minus 2 points for the unicorn shirt which is also played out, I give the video a 2/10.
  • Everytime I see an Arrested Development cast member I question why they aren't doing the movie. Then I remember its because Cera is being a little jerk. That show made you. Suck it up and do it!!!
  • Isn't he already signed up for doing it? So I don't think that is the hold up. Last time I heard the script was getting worked on.
  • I thought his comments posted yesterday lead us to beleive he wasn't.
  • "M Night Shyamalan tells MTV that he’s still interested in making an Unbreakable 2, someday: “I am. I don’t know where all the parties are in the world. I would really like to see this made but then again, M Night has been doing terrible things lately. Maybe it's best to just leave it alone.

The HMV exclusive version of Watchmen in the UK & Ireland is packaged in Rorschach's mask and the Blu-Ray is in Doc Manhattan's, dunno if that adds to this page or not but there ya go :)

    Less Ellen MORE ALIA
  • Tap Zepol
The thing is, I don't think Michael Bay was even trying to break a record for largest explosion, I think that was just a nice side effect his previous plan.

Also, why would FOX make another Donnie Darko sequel? The same reason they do everything: They hate you.
  • Mmmmmm
    Wall.
  • Switters
Horrible singing aside, Ellen Page is highy tappable in that video.
  • Bobafett
Night should make Life of Pi.
  • Yes, less Ellen more Alia.

Plus those Turtles are just disturbing... granted these are mutant turtles we are talking about but something feels very off with what seems to be an interpretation that is trying to make the mutation more "realistic". I applaud the effort, truely, a lot of it lies in the shape of the head and the way the masks are cut and draped.
  • topheavy
Guy Richie hasn't made a good movie since his rehash snatch, why am I going to try anything else he does? Oh, and slashfilm should try to make all the page 2 subjects a part of their own pages. I'm just sayin'
  • i liked the ninja turtles pic the most here. It would be awesome to see a darker version of them, like Nolan did with batman

also, how do people not know about Bruno? You think more people would recognize him and not talking knowing he would make you look like a dumb ass
  • tazz
WB need to see this TMNT concept design this would be great for the reboot live action movie
  • Peter, we were one step closer to the future potrayed in Minority Report when Microsoft announced Project Natal.
