  • really cool. I dig the design
  • shawn
idc which prequel is cooler.. the enterprise could never destroy the death star. ever.
  • Marko
I never actually saw Revenge of the Sith, so I might be wrong about this, but wasn't the Death Star under construction in that? So it would probably be very easy for the Enterprise to destroy it.
  • The Death Star never reallly appeared in the prequels though; maybe 2 minutes tops so I wouldn't count the Death Star in.
  • The Death Star could never destroy the Enterprise either. It's proven scientifically that the technology the Enterprise has could take on an entire Imperial Fleet.

    That's science, not bias.
  • ummm.. go outside.
  • Chill- a paragraph about the Enterprise and the Death Star doesn't mean I don't have a life. :P
  • SPARTACVS
Worf: "They are now locking LASERS on us."
    Picard: "Lasers?"
    Worf: "Laaaasers."
Picard: "Lasers can't even penetrate our navigation shields, don't they know that?"
*pew* *pew* *pew* *pew* *pew* *pew* *pew* *pew* *pew*
    Picard: *shrugs* "Fire torpedoes."
    *BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM*
  • ...
Is anybody going to do "which orignal franchise is cooler?"
say Kahn vs Darth Vader, Kirk vs Luke, Spock vs (Old) Obi Wan, Mcoy vs. Han Solo...
    The list is infinite...
and we all know Original Star Wars would trump original Trek any day...
but I don't know shawn, I think the either enterprise could take on the Death Star...
(by the way, was there even a Death Star in the prequel Star Wars? There was plans...)
    ...
  • It's cool but the Death Star wasn't really in the Prequels. and i don't know, i still like Star Wars more then Trek.
  • vva
Trek might be the better prequel for Episodes I and II and Episode III beats them all hands down.
  • vva
That should read BUT Episode III beats them all hands down. :)
  • My problem with Episode 3 is that everything was rushed and full of CGI battles. If you watch it now, it's seriously a video game
  • It appears the best prequel is winning.
  • I have to say this: I think the prequels will age worse than the original great trilogy.

Seriously, because I watched the prequels again and not only are they so-so STILL, the effects are getting dated. Heck, I prefer old school matte paintings and stop motion models of the old movies anyday!
  • Solid
I doubt it. A lot of kids grew up on the prequels and think they're the best movies of all time. Life is circular.
  • I doubt it because people grow up.

I grew up nothing think that I would like old movies. Now I'm 25 and I love 70s cinema.

Plus, the prequels don't have any iconic characters like Darth Vader or Han Solo.
  • Solid
We'll see... I can't imagine a kid liking the old school saber battles after the prequels ridiculous stunts, but hey I have to agree that some older movies are timeless. Jaws for one...
  • The powerful scenes are the subtle ones.

The scene when Yoda lifts the x-wing out of the swamp in the Empire Strikes Back is so breathtaking, that it wipes the floor that the prequels had to offer.

My point being is that, even a movie gets crap, it might crap forever; like Godfather Part 3. Sometimes, a movie gets a cult following or reconigtion like Blade Runner or Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom..

    So who knows.
  • Hassleberry
It's really comparing apples to oranges...
  • ----
Yeah, its more like comparing good movies to bad ones.
  • I liked both the prequel trilogy and the new Trek. To me, it's like Hassleberry said - it's like comparing apples to oranges. I just watched Phantom Menace again actually and, despite what flaws it has, there are way more things I like about it than what I dislike.

Anakin's lightsaber would behead Kirk in a second. We all know Jedi have the better weapon for a more civilized age.
  • saeseetom
It is like apples and oranges.

However, I prefer Wars to Trek. The new Trek film was exciting and well made, but I didn't like the script very much. At least Star Wars was about something.
  • Jurassic Park FTW! T-Rex would eat them all.
  • As far as the prequels go, Star Trek destroys SW: Episodes I and II. But if we are going based on weapons, Jedi's would rape and pillage the Star Trek crew. Phasers suck.
  • this shirt is almost correct.....i feel the death star vs enterprise battle would end in a double KO....unless starfleet busted a saucer sep.
  • How big is the Enterprise? How big is the Death Star? Doesn't anyone else think the proportions are way off for one of them?

Kinda reminds me of that conversation in Clerks about all of those poor independent contractors...
  • I like them both. I've always considered Star Trek to be sci-fi and Star Wars to be a fantasy/mythology in space.

The new Trek is way more entertaining and better made than the prequels, but I don't know... I feel like once I memorize all the jokes in Star Trek it won't be as fun to re-watch as the lightsaber battle between young Obi-Wan and Darth Maul. And will I be seeing Star Trek at the theatre 10 times, like I did with episodes 1 and 2? No. For one, I'm not 16 or 19 years old anymore. For another, this Star Trek isn't that dense; I feel like I've caught basically everything there is to see in the 3 times I've seen it.

Also, I'm still trying to figure out some of the plot points in the prequels (for better or for worse). The script, acting and directing sucks pretty bad, but there's a hell of a lot going on story-wise. (You might say *too* much.)

However, the new Star Trek has a pretty simple and easy-to-follow plot, not to mention the strange logic that a black hole = a wormhole, because as I understand it, they're not the same thing. And apparently big Enterprise-sized ships are built on the earth's surface and not in space (wha?), and they're built in Iowa for some reason (huh?), and in hundreds of years we'll still be listening to Beastie Boys, even though it's the equivalent of classical or renaissance music (um?)...

I love Star Trek and Star Wars, but they're not really the same. I say the apples and oranges comparison is a good one.

If we're just comparing film quality overall, though, clearly Star Trek wins. Better acting, directing, cinematography, and effects (at least until they're outdated). But comparing the actual concepts of each fandom is like a Mac vs. PC debate. And I won't even mention which fandom would be Mac and which would be PC because I have no idea. ;)
  • Goobity
Trekkies are the PC. Why else would they need to keep rebooting in order to keep the obsolete thing working?
  • and in hundreds of years we'll still be listening to Beastie Boys, even though it's the equivalent of classical or renaissance music (um?)...

this was a star trek joke........youtube it
  • Captain Molotov
The Star Wars/Star Trek rivalry is a fucking joke. It doesn't exist. Anyone who thinks it does is acting like a twelve year old.

I loved the new Star Trek and I'm not a fan, but I truly do love the Star Wars prequels too. I was actually just about to pop in Revenge of the Sith. I don't give a shit what anyone says, Prequel-Bashing is the cool internet bandwagon and most people don't hate them as much as they claim they do.
  • Slaphappy Slim
Fuck this shirt and geeks in general. The more hate the prequels get, the more I love them. It never gets old listening to people desperately insist that all of the flaws of the prequels aren't there in spades in the original trilogy.
  • it's not that the prequels totally suck; it's more like I prefer the acting and the story telling in the original movies. I also like the old school VFX and character designs as well.

The new movies are all flash but there's a lack of a soul in any of them. The original movie have made people love Star Wars. And yes, the prequels could do that too, but I kinda doubt it.
  • Aaron
    HAHAHA BULLSHIT
  • Wierd.. I don't remember Sam Jackson in Star Wars. I do remember Mace Windu though. ;)

    Cool shirt though.
