A bunch of cool artwork is on display at the Las Vegas Licensing International Expo, including the first promotional poster for Edgar Wright’s big screen adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, and updated logos for the four upcoming Marvel productions: Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers which have popped up over at AICN.

I’ve cleaned up the photos of the Marvel logos and Scott Pilgrim poster (corrected aspect, color corrected, sharpened…etc) and have included them after the jump. Head on over to AICN for the original higher resolution snapshots. They also have snaps of posters for Gore Verbinski’s animated Rango starring Johnny Depp, DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon, and Steve Carell’s Despicable Me. Head on over to AICN for more.

They look terrible. Especially Thor - surely not!
  • Matt
They look like the title screens of video games from the early 90s. Also is the Hulk going to be in the avengers movie?
  • I've heard he is the villain but that was over a year ago so it could change.
  • Captain Molotov
Wow, you're right. You half expect the dates underneath the title to say "Press Start."
  • I actually like the throwback logos. I'm sure they'll update them over time.
  • Gopher
Title screens look terrible. Scott's poster looks OK.
This is really just one of the things that should have been in a Page 2, though.
  • I think you did a great job making these 'palatable', Peter. The Pilgrim one is the only poster here to catch my eye.
  • Palmer
The Marvel logos are just essentially the same thing they use for the comic book namesakes. I do like the Scott Pilgrim one though.

The Scott Pilgrim one is awesome, but could be misleading. It makes the film look like it'll be animated.
  • same thing I was thinking.
  • Avengers and Thor look like a 90's Saturday morning cartoon.
    Bleh
  • ... even though it says "Live Action"?
  • dagreenman18
sadly yes. With normal folk, you need to be blatantly obvious.
  • Honestly, you're right. That is sad.
  • Let's see, hmm, I think only 2 of these projects will make bank. The rest? I'm hoping for gems but I'm braced for disappointment.
  • Who Ha
I still think Marvel should rearrange the title of Captain America... If they just HAVE to stick with their unnecessary 'First Avenger' bit, they'd be better off with it looking like this:
    Captain America: The First Avenger

At most movie theaters I go to (I live in New York City), I've noticed many times that people who may not have heard of a movie won't go to it because a title is too long/cut off on the timetable
    i.e. "THE FIRST AVEN 9.30 11.45"
  • Very astute observation. I too have seen this and it was the very same reason why many people I know didn't see "The Day The Earth Stood Still". The timetable was
    "The Day The ..... 4:30...6:40....8:10"
  • Scott Pilgrim!!!!!!!
  • Unless I'm blind, Bryan Lee O'Malley's name doesn't seem to be on the Scott Pilgrim poster / credits. Does that mean anything?
  • Travis McGee
You're right. I just looked it over. I wonder if that does mean anything, or if it's just because he hasn't done any other big book. Not that Scott Pilgrim is that big to begin with, but it will take off after this movie comes out. Anyone know of the release date of the 6th (and final) book?
  • The popularity of the source material shouldn't have anything to do with crediting its creator. Plenty of other movies were made based off lesser known books by unknown authors and they still get a "based on the book by" credit. I find it weird that it says "Written by Michael Bacall and Edgar Wright" instead of "Screenplay by". Mal wrote the material, they're adapting it.
  • Um, shouldn't it be "Avengers Assemble"? (no "s") Or does the whole subject-verb agreement thing not apply to the Marvel universe?
  • Ben
Technically yeah, but they are using assembles to refer to the movie not necessarily Avengers. As in: Avengers . Comes out May 2012

It would look awkward to have it read
    Avengers
    Come out May 2012

But yeah, I get where your coming from.
  • Hey guys,
Does the Scott Pilgrim poster count as the first official mention of Jason Schwartzman's involvement in the project. I guess he's confirmed as Gideon Graves.
  • Fanboy
Its a shame they had to recycle old art for the Scott Pilgrim poster, instead of using the actors (maybe comic-con for that?) or getting Bryan Lee O'Malley to do new art for the poster. The art in the poster is from the cover to a comic I believe was called Comics Festival that came out on Free Comic book day a few years ago.
  • Nazz
Oooooo I want the Scott Pilgrim poster
  • Johanna
    KEVIN MCKIDD SHOULD BE THOR!
  • theAguilar
I need to read Scott Pilgrim. Yes, it has evolved from a desire to a necessity.
