The FCC doesn't have jurisdiction over any cable channel (except TBS - but that's also a broadcast channel in some markets). Any cable network can show whatever content they'd like - it's their own self-regulation that prevents them from doing so. That's how Comedy Central gets away with their 'Secret Stash' and FX gets away with their 'edgy' programming.

This was actually the first time I can remember really enjoying the MTV Movie Awards. Besides all of the Twilight love, there were some fairly hilarious bits - the Walking Away From Explosions video with Samberg, Ferrel, and JJ Abrams was hilarious, the aforementioned Eminiem bit was unexpected and funny, and Kiefer Sutherland's award presentation to Ben Stiller was surreal. I don't know if Samberg had a big hand in writing the show, but somehow MTV got it right this year (well, except for the actual awards, of course).

i have to say that that was completely planned out. The reason I fell this way is three-fold. One there was no crew on the floor to help get Bruno off of eminem and to get him safely to the ground, because even from a fall like that he could still get hurt and also because if his wires were tangled up in a way that they had to let him down, even at his own request , they were be there on standby in case a wire gets caught on some part of his body hurting him. But the biggest reason that I believe this to be a planned stunt is because there was a camera already waiting on the ground panning to eminem to get his close up and not to anyone who is sitting behind or beside him because when coming down, if not planned, no one would know if he would be directly on top of eminem or the person behind him. And finally, in connection with the last reason, I think because of Bruno's open and apparent homosexuality and because of eminem's open and apparent homophobia, at least in his music, it made for the best comedy for bruno to land directly on top of eminem. To me at least this screamed planned.

Also, it didn't cut to Eminem until Bruno was directly above him, his feathers falling on top of him. And yes, they can cut to close ups of people pretty quickly. They've got a shitload of cameras and all they need to do is say the word and ten of 'em will spin and zoom in on Eminem.
I'm not going to say that you're wrong, because SBC is known for some crazieness, but Em really looked pissed, like really, really pissed. And that look on Efrons face when he called his name while floating ass up around the crowd could not possibly have been staged, that was sheer shock. either that or he really is the best male actor...

Knowing Eminem's sense of humor, Bruno and MTV thought it would be best to do a surprise like that on him. At first I had a feeling this was staged then I thought about it and I don't know. I'm leaning towards staged though that Eminem knew about this. I'm sure he'd be laughing at Bruno even before he was about to land on him if it was supposed to be a surprise on Eminem. Also, I don't think MTV would film Eminem leaving if it was real. Remember what Borat did to Pamela Anderson at the climax of the movie? It looked very real because only she knew about it.
