The Commercials of Carl Erik Rinsch

carl erik rinsch

Commercial/music video director Carl Erik Rinsch has been tipped to direct a new Alien film for Ridley Scott. You can read more about Rinsch on Shootonline.com (google cache). I have put together a compilation of Rinsch’s best commercials.  I highly recommend checking out his work. Watching his commercials, it’s easy to see why he might be a choice for a 21st Century Alien film. He is able to effectively combine realistic visual effects with live action imagery to create a magically compelling story.

  • Can't possibly go wrong?
  • Jesse
really nice stuff, hope hollywood lets this guy flex his skills
  • Jay
    very sweet!!!

be cool to see more "cool director commercial" posts. I never watch ads any more but these are little works of art in themselves
  • Simply amazing commercials.
  • SPARTACVS
    First I was like

    "Not Ridley Scott?! :("

    Then I was like

"THE EVOLUTION OF TECHNOLOGY COMMERCIAL GUY?! :o"

    Then I was like

    "Yeaaahhhhhh :D"
  • Then I was like

    "Clueless, much?"
  • Name
    Then I was like

    "Meh."

    Then I was like

"Rather Ridley Scott than this guy."
  • Wow I was blown away. I really liked the 'Evolution of technology' ad. I'm sure this guy will do a fine job directing the Alien remake or prequel or whatever it's going to be.
  • This guy is one of the most talented commercial directors in the industry. He's innovative and creative. Why not use his skills to launch an entirely new, ORIGINAL franchise, one that pushes the envelope just like Alien did thirty years ago?

Oh yeah, that's right it's Fox and it's Hollywood. They are too damn lazy to put the effort into trying something new and would rather hope for the easy money that comes with "rebooting" an established series, and making it "gritty" and "realistic".

While it was a great movie, but I fear that The Dark Knight may have actually made Hollywood even worse than it was before.
  • it's all recession talk dude.

there aren't that many studio's that will take the plunge with untested material. that's why they're tapping into more and more 'old' (read: nostalgic) stuff. they know it has a (rabid) fanbase and hoping to get them excited enough to go see the new movie.

why'd you think Land of the Lost got made?

i remember reading a pretty article article on this a while back. can't remember where though...
  • Well he can handle special effects, but I seem to remember the first two Alien movies being much more about character and motivation than fancy SFX. We'll see. I really don't think being a tech whizzkid means the movie will be good. Look at Iron Man and Dark Knight - both directors think script first, then effects later.
  • oats
Exactly, he is obviously a great commercial director which means he has a great visual style, but who knows if he can control a feature length story.
  • I really like the Mercedes Commercial.

And i do think Alien should not be remade.
  • He's obviously talented. I especially love that Delicatessen music. If he does direct a new Alien let's hope it lives up to it's predecessor.
  • Tetsuo_Man
Glad I am not the only one who caught that... *high five*
  • I can't believe what I'm reading...am I the only one who thinks Alien should NOT be remade!?

The guy is obviously talented...but why remake an original that is so classic?

    Oh wait I forgot. Fox!
  • I'm not really affected by remakes anymore, The original will stand by itself as it's own amazing film. While the new one will come and if it isn't any good, will go. With his talent I don't think the guy will mess it up. But if it's bad it will not taint the old one, and we can simply ignore it ever happened. They're obviously going to remake it eventually, I wouldn't mind seeing what this guy can do.
  • You forgot something: FOX!!! They will frack everything from the script to the ratting. Imagine a PG-13 Alien.

I sure hope they cast Summer Glau.
  • Mack41
I always hated the Heineken: Futuristic ad and knowing this guy is behind it ticks me off. That ad is sooooo annoying.
  • jenny
    dito.
  • rnl
Alien does not need a remake.
It's perfect the way it is.

    The kid has talent though.
  • helicopters
man, fuck michael bay, they shoulda tapped this guy for transformers.
  • Lux
A remake of Alien...? oh... please... noooo... i hate Fox
  • Terry
It's not a remake, its a prequel! like a origin story of the 1 alien in the first movie
  • Jds
not a remake ...he is very talented, and lets hope in the new film, he has some sort of robot, becuase that girl in the advert was mighty fine.
  • Travis McGee
I hate FOX too. They put out crap films. And even ones that should be easy, like Wolverine, they still manage to mess it up.
I'm also fed up with the whole PG-13 rating for all the films that should be R. The only reason that studios make the films PG-13 is so they can get more money.
My favorite film this year, The Hangover, was rated R.
  • shameless
this guy, is bad ass. i can't wait to see him direct a feature
  • ron
    hell no!!
  • markus wallett
Big mistake. The alien series should be left alone. Any more films will only piss on the memory of the first two films.
