Free Advance Screenings of 500 Days of Summer

500 Days of Summer 550

Fox Searchlight will be holding a bunch of advance word of mouth promo screenings for (500) Days of Summer. This is the film I really fell in love with this year at Sundance. The film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Tom, a hapless greeting card copywriter and hopeless romantic, who is blindsided after his girlfriend Summer (Zooey Deschanel) dumps him, he shifts back and forth through various periods of their 500 days “together” to try to figure out where things went wrong.

Searchlight is holding screenings in New Orleans, Memphis, Denver, Houston, Austin, Kansas City, Cleveland, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Seattle, San Antonio, Minneapolis and Chicago. Head on over to FoxSearchlight.com to RSVP. And remember, an RSVP is not as good as a normal ticket. You need to show up early to ensure you get in.

Well this is mostly awesome. I RSVPed, but 7:30 am on only weekdays (at least here in New Orleans)? Some of us have to work...I might end up not being able to go. Would a late night showing or a weekend morning kill them?

Times like these that makes me hate living in Asia.

  • No New York City....that's a major bummer
  • I know right? Like, they always have screenings in NYC!
  • The email confirmation I received also said 7:30 AM.

It's gonna be an earrrrrly morning. >_<
  • Of course the weekends that I'm in Portland and San Diego don't correspond with the screenings. Mannnn this is uncool.

YESSSSSS! Sorry for those that's city didn't get chosen, but seriously, I can't believe it's coming to Rochester. But "advance" might not be the right word, since two of the screenings here are after the movie's official release date of July 17. Though I'm not sure what cities it's released in on that day anyway…anybody have any info on that?
  • florida gets no indie love
  • No LA screenings?! Whaaaaat?! This is why I moved here, dangit!
  • Damnit. Jacksonville never gets anything. Bah! Bah I say!

  • Seriously what's up with that?? I went to Fox Searchlight's screening of Slumdog last fall...why aren't they having this one here??
  • I was at that screening as well. Pretty odd. Unless it's being shown during the festival so they held off on it?
  • OH YA!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!

You got to get there early though, and 7:30AM seems pretty early. Can anybody say "camping trip"
  • seriously where do I get JGL's headphones!? someone let me know.
  • kuzzinkris
    they're wesc bongo headphones
  • sigh. Not in my city....
  • WOO HOO...one in Seattle? *signs up*
  • I would hope that the 7:30 AM is a typo, but who knows.

Free movies are always for the win =D I'm excited that Fox Searchlight does these things, I loved it with Napolean Dynamite as well as Slumdog Millionaire.

    Alas, nothing in Orange County.

    7:30 AM ???

I have a feeling that would be a typo. Seems a bit early for a movie screening.
  • Bugger. Super Duper limited to a select few cities. I guess I'll just wait.

Also Peter, I think you meant to say "fell in love with" instead of "movie in love with". Just looking out.

    Damn, no Atlanta.
  • No England, either... :(
