New Divide Linkin Park

Remember that new song that Linkin Park was working on for the soundtrack for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Well the song is now available on LinkinPark.com and Apple iTunes. Apparently the song has also been incorporated into part of the film’s score. It’s not bad, definitely not as horrible as Stan Bush’s remake of The Touch.

It's alright, sounds a little bit like What I've Done. Definetly feels like it fits the movie
  • FuckYouHaters
Hey you fuckbags that are disappointed with this song. It is confirmed that "New Divide" won't be on their next album so chill the fuck out.

i'm a fan of LP from the days of hybrid theory and although they've changed, after a few listens minutes to midnight and new divide do grow on me. they stand on their own merits and unfortunately neither are typical linkin park. New divide was better than the songs on minutes in my opinion though
  • The_Kid
Fan of LP, but that was lame.

thought it was quite good... sort of thing u would expect for end credits!:) hope the new album follows suit.

last album had the cool T1 single but the rest of it was awful.
  • I know it has been said a million times but Linkin Park suck donkey balls. They suck even more when they are live, but their studio recordings consist some of the most over produced crap ever.

I wouldn't mind if it were this songt hough:

i agree with the other reply to your post. i've also seen them live. They don't suck. they played their old music and their new music. Both sounded fantastic. Minutes to Midnight dissappointed me compared to their old music but it's different. many bands change and change doesn't mean that they suck. it pisses me off when people are so arrogant to bitch when bands decide experiment with different styles. I agree that they should go back to the meteora/ hybrid theory style but minutes to midnight wasn't terrible. it just wasn't typical linkin park. if you don't like it listen to something else
  • The internets keep telling you that a certain band was awesome when they started out and then they sold out and started producing crap. It does that mostly when referring to numetal acts like Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and Linkin Park. Well, guess what, these have always sucked . Their old stuff was worse than their newer stuff(is most cases), but it has always been pure, unadulterated and over-produced feces for the ADD set.
  • I've seen them live, they don't suck at all.
  • If what you say about the new album is true, then I am truly excited for it. I wouldn't have cared if they had gone the hard rock/metal road, as I enjoy pretty much any kind of rock music you throw at me. I also didn't know that they gained fans with Minutes. I was under the impression that they had lost quite a lot, which made me sad since I have been a fan since the first EP, because most of the ones walking away were the ones that had been with them for so long. If they gained fans, I suppose that is a good thing, though I would like to think they didn't change purely for that reason. I would love to see this next album be more experimental though. Percussion, in my opinion, is the life force of the band, and the more from Rob the better.
  • Basically a re-creation of "What I've Done" with a different feel.
  • The new album is going to be experimental. A friend of the band gave them the idea. It's also going to feature much more prominent drumming from Bourden. I think this song was a bridge between Minutes and the new album as opposed to what the album would really sound like.

I had no problem with them switching sounds. It had to be done for them to mature, I think. I just wish they had gone the opposite way. Instead of becoming an alt rock band, they become a hard rock/metal band. I prefer heavier music and that is part of the reason I love Hybrid Theory EP (and, to a lesser extent, Hybrid Theory) so much. But, that is just my personal taste. Obviously they went the route that more people would like. Their fan base grew exponentially with Minutes. They lost a lot of old time fans (I've been a fan since they were Xero) but they gained hordes of new fans. So I guess they chose the better route for the band, right?

    i agree yo

Opinions are opinions; the the haters hate, the lovers love and the critical reviewers critique.

IMO, I would love to see some of the broad ballad approach done with some of the base/fundamental/back to their roots semi hip-hop, crypto-metal values. Either way I'm all ears and waiting.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Didn't suck as bad as minutes to midnight (relative to their old stuff of course), which makes me happy!
  • Look at all you music snobs turning your noses up at this. No, it's not Beethoven's Fifth. It still kicks ass.

It IS available on iTunes. I couldn't find it at first but for whatever reason it doesn't come up right away. You have to search for "New Divide" and scroll down a lot - but it IS there.
  • dududu
is that on the uk store or us one??
  • there's been a few tv spots popping up all the world today. different 30 second clips. new footage, its sweet!
  • There not as bad as Nikelback or however you spell it
  • predictable. boring. but, not as bad as Stan Bush's remake of The Touch. forgettable, but fits into a Michael Bay giant robot movie.
  • I take it that Mike Shinoda is no longer in the band...
  • haha, he's slowly becoming a producer/musician...the vocals seem to be taking a back seat. Although I don't mind when he actually sings, it'd be cool if both Mike and Chester sang together on the next album
  • Adil
Its a fucked up boring version of "What I've Done"
  • From what i have read recently people is it will be available on.. the 20th on Itunes.. click the link on the site "Exclusively on itunes" and it should pop up with the date. this was like 5 minutes ago when i read that. I WANT IT NOWWWW I Hate streaming it I want it HQ as does everyone else lol
  • Ben
On Itunes Now for USA (18th)
    31st May for UK :(
  • hmm its ooookay. i like the guitar and drums but vocals were alright. there were some parts in the vocals that i could totally see how Hans could turn into epic tunes
  • I've never understood the hatred per say targeted against Linkin Park. If you dislike a certain band just don't listen to them.

This is fine for a Transformer movie. At least the production quality of the song is pretty good. This isn't my preference in music but it suits Transformers well imo.
  • akshansh
y hate a band if u dislike the music.... just don't listen to them... and as far as LP is concerned they are MUCH BETTER than many of the bands around... hey dude Craigasorusrex ur ryt ... its just fits wid the transformer luk..i've been listening to it all day long and i luv it... thanx 4 the music LP u rock and ur divine
  • Some things can be over produced.
  • It's no What I've Done, but it's still pretty good.
  • ToddLP
whatever Linkin Park do rocks, and so does this. it had to fit the feeling of the film so it wasnt going to be there own work
  • NIck V
    I agree with everything
that sums up pretty much everything i was just thinking finally a fellow TRUE linkin park fan

Or just click this link. Totally legal DRM free copy of it.

  • Wick
    Not yet :(
  • Cenzo74
Give us an aggressive score... forget about shitty bands who don't have a clue. Take a tip from 300 and Gladiator.
  • Lpfanaddy
I think I'll just put in Hybrid Theory or Meteora and wish that Linkin Park would return to their roots...
  • twstdbydsn
    that was horrible.
  • nick v

  • McDude
Guys who can't find it on iTunes: according to LP's MySpace, availability of the song will be 4PM PST (6:00 for most of us) Guess we'll just have to wait an hour longer :(
