The fifth video blog for Edgar Wright’s big screen adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is now online. This one takes a look at the translation from comic book panel to screen. Writer/artist Bryan Lee O’Malley visits some of the locations that he featured in the comics, which are now being used in the film adaptation. Watch the new video blog after the jump.

i've worried bout this too, because cera hasn't shown any range whatsoever, but the above poster nailed it: wright is helming this, and the cast is solid. plus i believe the script will be solid as all hell.

Read the first volume of Scott Pilgrim. Didn't think it was anything special. Wasn't even that enjoyable.

I still think Michael Cera is the weak point in all this. I just don't buy him as Scott at all. O'Malley can praise him all he wants, he just doesn't seem like Scott and I fear Scott Pilgrim character is going to be mutated into Michael Cera's typical performance in the film.
  • I feel the same way, but given how good the rest of the cast looks and that Edgar Wright is involved I'm willing to give Cera the benefit of the doubt.

The movie looks good. To be honest I read the first book a couple years ago and was bored. It always seeed like it was written for a child and not full of much substance. The movie looks fun though!
  • Oh jeez, that's crazy. I always thought Bryan Lee O'Malley was some Irish guy.
  • You made a very good choice.
  • I'm going to see if I can't get my hands on the book as well. I didn't know anything about it until this movie.

Anyone know which books will be adapted into this film? I know the "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" title comes from book 2, so is it just based on that one? Or books 1 and 2? Or 1-3? Or all 1-5? Haha, I'm clueless - anyone know?
  • I think it'll be based off of books 1-6. The sixth one hasn't been released yet, but I suspect it will come out very close to or even a bit earlier than the film. They might even do a cool box set sort of thing and release it in tandem. It's funny because Bryan Lee O'Malley is pretty much implying on his blogs that he's going to hole up in order to finish the sixth book. He's a very funny man, his tweets are awesome.
