Lost Season 5 Finale - What Did You Think?

lost season 5 cast promo photo

I’m on the west cost so I’ve yet to see the Season five finale of Lost. But I thought I’d start a talkback post for all those people on the east coast to get the party started. What did you think? How do you think the story will continue next season? What is your theory? What did you like? What did you hate? Spoilers welcome, of course. Leave your thoughts in the comments below.

  • Captain Molotov
    WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED
  • Kirk
    yep lol
  • Shane
Yeah, I agree with Captain Molotov. What the hell??
  • Ender
Well check this out. This is the statue!

  • Edward
LOST stuck its penis in my ear and effed my brain.

For the fifth year in a row, I've absolutely no idea what's going on.
  • Will Mc~
About an hour and 45 minutes in I thought the ending would be pretty weak but, the last 15- 20 minutes just blew me away! I am really looking forward to next season, which will unfortunately be in 2010... :(
  • HunterHater
    holy fucking fuck.
  • Justin the owens
    UUUNNNNBEREVABLE!
  • Kevin
About an hour and 45 minutes in I thought the ending would be pretty strong but the last 15- 20 minutes let me down.

    Fixed, for me.
  • Best season finale yet.
  • Captain Molotov
I'm coming down from the initial shock and I'm a little disappointed.

Seriously? We gotta wait til fucking January to find out what even happened?!
  • John
It was AWESOME!! Lock being the body they were carrying was a great twist. I hate that we have to wait until next year for the final season though.
  • Lisa
Do you have any idea what Richard's answer to "what lies beneath the shadow of the statue" question was?
  • The Iron Avenger
    "He whom we all serve"
  • Karl Malone
If you didn't see that coming from a mile away you are fucking stupid dumb.
  • GordonD12
The John Locke that met with Jacob is actually Charles Widmore! He's the only one that would be able to afford the surgery to pull it off!
  • Lost Rules
The idea of Charles Widmore is ridiculous it's most likely the man in black who was talking to Jacob at the beginning of the episode
  • Lost Rules
sorry for the double post I meant to say the idea of Charles Widmore being the Fake John Locke is ridiculous it's probably the man in black who was talking to Jacob at the very beginning of the episode
  • MIND DANCER
Who is the new John Locke?
  • Will Mc~
The guy who was talking to Jacob at the beginning and wanted him dead.
  • Kev
    Taken from another site,

"As soon as I saw Jacob and the guy in black I knew who they were; The guy in black is the smoke monster. The black and white/ good vs. bad was obvious in their clothing. We know why the others have an affinity for children, because Jacob does, they are innocent and under the right guidence can be good. The smoke monster lives under the temple. Roussaus team who went in likely didn’t live. They were just the smoke monster trying to break free of his prison and eventually kill Jacob. But there was this loophole that he could never get past."
  • modernprimative
    Esau
  • Bobx66
    Beat me to it!
  • scud
He is the guy from the beach scene at the beginning that was looking for the loophole.
  • the dude
he is the guy at the begginning with jacob on the beach.
  • so the question is did the bomb stop the energy from being released or cause the energy to be released?
  • I think the bigger question is whether what happened at the statue changed things. I don't believe the Losties can change anything, but Jacob....and "Locke" can.
  • Bertha
i think the bomb stopped ALL the energy from being released. but i don't think it caused it.
  • vader
hey bertha, guess who? i know what you're doing.
  • Justin
in case you havent seen it yet. juliet is dragged down from the electromagnetic hole at the swan and detonates the undetonated nuke. Ben kills jacob. As jacob dies he says they are coming. Probably CW. Enjoy.
  • MementoMoriShayan
    What's CW?
  • T.S.
    charles whidmore
  • Time Traveler
"They are coming" refers to the Oceanic 815 survivors stuck in the 70's coming back to the present to fulfill their destiny as Jacob's disciples. That is why all the flashbacks in the episode were of Jacob secretly recruiting them. (Juliette's flashback does not include Jacob and so she dies setting off the bomb and is not part of their final destiny to save the island from Jacob's enemy)
  • Interesting point, but Locke's flashback involved Jacob, so then would he still have a role in saving the island somehow?
  • Time Traveler
Jacob gave him life when he was dead once, he can always do it again
  • Fandom
Yeah, the ending kinda blew. I think everybody was expecting for the bomb to blow up, right? That just means that the plane lands and everybody survives, including Juliet, who will still be alive and living with the Others on the island. Next season will be about how all the survivors lives intertwine and connect with one another, even though they weren't stranded together, because it's just "destiny."
  • malars
I don't think that's even close to right! I think Daniel was wrong, that blowing up the bomb was the incident and they were always meant to do what they did. The only thing I think the explosion did was bring the 815 survivors in '77 back to '07. It's not going to make it to where none of this ever happened!
  • Lili
Doc Jensen over at EW has a theory that Jack & Co did change the past, but destiny will still bring them to the Island via Ajira 316. So far, that's the only thing I think could make sense. Plus I read Claire will be back next season. I can't wait!!
  • andy
Juliet got cast in the V remake so she may not be back.
  • vandal
Now that the bomb has gone off, it isn't a given that the Others will have fertility problems. No fertility problems, no need for a fertility doctor. Juliet could still be happily living in Florida (it was Florida, right?).
  • Casey
This changed everything. Very cool episode though, I loved the twists with the Jacob/Locke/Ben storyline
  • buck
dude lost sucks. i dont think the writers understand storytelling. its cool to use cliffhangers, i mean look at Indiana Jones. every other scene had a cliffhanger. but theres gotta be a payoff sooner or later.
  • Pty89
Do you watch the show regularly or just tune in for season finales?
  • nick
every wednesday for the past 4 seasons, i only watch for kate, and because its filmed so ridiculously like film.
  • minge
you can't even spell. please stop watching lost so that someone else can enjoy it.
  • Pty89
I'm sorry that you dislike it so.
Maybe this season will give you the payoff you can't seem to find.
However, if not, I propose you find a prostitute.
  • "There's gotta be a payoff sooner or later."

Where have you been the past three seasons?
  • nick
    watching...
  • KDB
You are an idiot, how can you compare Lost and Indiana Jones... Lost is for people with some intellect, it isn't mindless entertainment such as Indy.
  • nick
god you are a fucking moron.
