cannes 2009 posters
Our friends at FirstShowing are in France for the Cannes Film Festival, and have gotten a bunch of snapshots of some of the cool promotional posters for upcoming films. Above are the billboards for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island starring Leonard Dicaprio, and Robert Zemeckis‘ performance capture 3D adaptation of A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carrey.I’m really digging the redish-orange on black look of the Scorsese poster.

Head on over to FS to see art for Joel Schymacher’s Twelve, Cotton, Chloe, And Soon The Darkness, The Army of Crime, and Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones. I’m sure we’ll see more promotional art coming out of Cannes in the next few days, so stay tuned.

I can't wait for Shutter Island. The book was kick-ass.

WOW! that shutter island poster is amazing!
  • Shutter Island looks better and better by the minute.

I'm finding it really hard to get excited about A Christmas Carol. I just can't have high expectations for it.
  • The essence of Jim Carrey seems to be captured perfectly in The Christmas Carol poster.

That Christmas Carol poster looks much like the Lemony Snicket's Poster

Improving from what? The man's been on a roll since 2002.

Directed By Martin Scorsese? Shouldn´t it be a Martin Scorsese picture?
  • Shutter Island is great news. The book was spectacular and with Scorsese and Dicaprio teaming up again... count me in.
  • I thought they changed the name of Shutter Island to Ashecliffe.

That was only a fake title used during filming so people would either a) not go out, read the book, and spoil the ending or b) to prevent people from mobbing the set (a la Rory's First Kiss).

Personally, I love the background and the title font but I'm not sure about that picture of Leo.
  • Nothing will ever beat A Muppet Christmas Carol.
  • Reg
    Mehhhh.
  • Alex
Leo looks more like Phillip Seymour Hoffman than himself there.
  • I'm definitely looking forward to the new Scorsese film. I just need to read the book before I watch the movie.

I think this movie will be amazing! DiCaprio must win the oscar.
