Did you know, Sam Worthington is in every scene of James Cameron’s Avatar? Cameron revealed this bit of information on stage while presenting Worthington with the Breakthrough award at Australians In Film Awards.

“We were making a $200 million-plus movie and it’s all about the journey of one guy, Jake, and he’s in every scene in the film, from beginning to end. It all hangs on that one piece of casting.”

Cameron also did a brief interview on the red carpet before the event, and reiterated the claim that Avatar “takes place in another world and you’ll feel like you’ve been to that world.” Watch the interview after the jump.

Also, I’ve been meaning to post this 3-minute video interview with Sigourney Weaver.

“It’s a serious film about serious issues, but it’s in 3D. And when you see it, you go — well, of course! This is so natural, this is the way it should be!,” said Weaver. “It’s so state of the art, it’s going to transform, at least, what people expect of the big movies.”

give us a dam trailer already! comic con hopefully?
  • My New Pep-Pep
I can't wait for Battle Angel Alita.
  • Is he jumping right into Battle Angel after Avatar? I hope it's him that does the movie and not another director.
  • Paraplegic T-Rex
The only good films Cameron has done are True Lies and Piranha 2. Couple that with the casting of a relative unknown actor Sam Worthington and put it in 3d and you have a 200 million dollar turd. This movie is going to bomb.
  • So you're trying to say Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Aliens, Point Break, and the obviously predictable movie Titanic were all piece of shit movies? Sure some of those may not be the most amazing films ever made but both Terminator movies had some ground breaking graphics and special effects as well did Aliens and even Titanic.

Yeah Avatar is going to bomb and Heath Ledger didn't win an Oscar while dead either.
  • Brad
    You forgot The Abyss.
  • point break...?
  • thankyoufor
    Cameron didn't do Point Break
  • jason B
umm, james cameron did not direct point break i think it was a woman named katherine bigelow or something like that.

but you are right, the t-rex person is quite mistaken about cameron's library of good films.
  • What if its as good as True Lies and Piranha 2 combined? Then it will outsell titanic!
  • Ryan will Kill
T-REX you should stop opening your mouth because all that comes out is false and diarrhetic. Aliens? the best movie in the world (now tied with Avatar) Terminator 1 & 2? man you are a real moron, maybe you're blind and can only hear movies.
  • strawberries
Sam Worthington won't be unknown pretty soon. Terminator, Avatar, Clash of the Titans all coming up. and maybe even Green Lantern.
  • He isn't unknown here in Australia, just not a super-star.
    Great in Thunderstruck.
  • oh dude nice! i didnt know how to use imdb
  • strawberries
    what's imdb?
  • lame Evan.
  • ZXCVV
I don't know if I could relate to Sam Worthington. He seems like such an asshole.
  • Seems like you two relate fine.
  • saying Sam Worthington will blow away Christian Bale is a stupid statement. I think Cameron is starting to lose it in his old age. Avatar hopefuls beware!
  • Angel
bahahaha!!!! "well....i saw the trailer, i like the vibe, doesn't look like it'll be an embarassment." good ol james cameron :-)
  • John Stanley
    where and what trailer?
  • cambion
I hope you're just trolling/joking paraplegic t-rex. Aliens and Terminator 2 are incredible. And love it or hate (I'm somewhere in the middle), you can't deny that Titanic was beautifully shot and a huge technical achievement.

I REALLY want to see some footage from this film. I haven't been this anxious for a movie since The Dark Knight.
  • Is mary, the woman next to Sigourney, in Avatar?? It doesn't say she is on IMDB but I loved her on Battlestar galactica
  • whsmith
Considering that she seemed fascinated to hear any details about the production, I would highly doubt that.
  • lol, dang. Hoping she was in it
  • James Cameron is such a great guy!
  • Vinyard
When Hollywood has been selling other films it's done in "3-D," it's been saying how all other films ("2-D") are obsolete in comparison.
With Avatar, there doesn't appear to be cynicism involved in selling the film. Instead of mocking other films, the cast speaks about how this [film] should be a poisitive experience.
That's entirely pleasant and should bode well for the prospect of the film doing well - especially considering how much potential change it could create in the film industry.
But 3-D has to continually evolve much like CGI has kept evolving: newer and better employment of technologies.
  • Cameron is awesome.
  • whsmith
on terminator: "doesn't look like it's going to be an embarrassment"... not exactly a ringing endorsement, but he said he hasn't seen it
  • Your right. The man knows a thing or two about helming sequels.
  • I think I speak on behalf of everyone here:

    Show US something!!!
  • Peter-Why is the Sam Worthing part in the title ending in a question mark when James Cameron basically proved he was it?
  • Because while it is true that Cameron said he was in every scene of the movie, he might be exaggerating a tiny bit. He was making a speech after all, the sole purpose of which was to praise Worthington's abilities. It's possible for the whole film to be second person with no cut aways, but most films have a scene or two without the main character, giving the audiences a peek at what the main character does not see. Not saying that is the case with Avatar. I'm sure that Worthington is probably in almost every scene. But every scene might be a stretch.
  • We'll just have to wait until Christmas!
  • Kenneth
I would very much like to see a trailer. There's the understatement of the week!
  • Are you asking why I included the movie or are you asking if this movie exists?
  • @isotope

He exec produced Point Break so it's arguable his input into that one was negligible.

Also I think you're undervaluing Terminator 1-2 and Aliens. They contributed so much more than just "ground breaking graphics and special effects" they set the bar for action movies and sci-fi at the time of their release... and they still hold up to this day in my opinion.

More of todays shaky cam filmmakers should study Cameron for how to stage and shoot effective action sequences.
  • Knew I forgot one :P
  • So basically more talk about the same things hes said from the beginning and still no footage? Sounds about right.
  • This is a tru3D film. How do you share images of heaven on bits of low res internet and tv filth...
  • I'm not convinced he's making a movie at all. He's just making behind the scenes footage about someone making a movie. So meta... Genius.
  • Haha yeah. I am tepidly hopeful for this movie, but I have to agree that Cameron loves to talk and is possibly talking a little too big this time. Though I sincerely hope that he's not.
  • god damn it. when will they release the trailer
  • jason B
i have no opinion on this film yet, because i haven't seen anything. i'm hopeful it will be all its hyped to be, but i am weary of 3D gimmickery (?).
  • AimFaiL
If the movie is in 3D, we need those glases? Hmm
  • The girl on the right had a lot to say.
  • Johan
A trailer would be nice. If not a trailer, at least a photo or a poster. Anything, just not more shots of Jim Cameron on set, or some actor telling us how great it will be. Show us something already!!
  • I'm on board the Cameron hype machine, not so much the Tarantino. I think this film will revolutionize movies. It's gonna be great. I hope...
  • Lono
Johan, you really should go and check out the Charlie Rose interview with JJ Abrams. He would hate your guts. Just calm the fuck down and wait. Jesus!
  • Im so looking forward to that film, finally anoth scifi film, there has only been star wars and ALiens, another thing who the fu.. is that lady besides ms. weaver, I hate this typical american "ahh ohh amazing" about nothing, but ok thats another topic.
