Producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that the teaser trailer M Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender, the big screen live action adaptation of Avatar, will be attached to Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which hits theaters on June 24th 2009. ‘m sure the final trailer for G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra will also be attached, especially considering the the movie is also a Paramount release. It is possible that another high profile trailer might also be attached, although I haven’t heard any rumblings yet.

M Night Shyamalan Sucks here comes another bad movie.
  • ineedahermida
I agree! Who is letting this man work?
  • kindbuddy
Yea sure he sucks *rolleyes* and here comes a bad kids movie... righhhhhhttttttt.. I'm sure the kids will love it...
  • kuda
yyy? u a just making the cantoon look bad y??????
  • keef
I bet M Night feels aweful. All his previous recent films have been reviewed horribly, and now his next one is being slammed for it's casting before it even began shooting
  • What a tweest!
  • jjjjjjjjjjjk
    i love you for that
  • nelson
i have a very bad feeling about this one gi joe may be better LOL
  • kuda
sfe i thing you should change the people accept the brother sakka and the sister kitter
  • I'm curious how Last Airbender is going to look... Slash better have a bootleg trailer up soon.
  • I didn't even know this had start filming yet.

Has all the cast been announced already?
  • Yes. Which has sparked quite a deal of controversy among the Airbender fan community.
  • Justin
    "another high profile trailer"

    OMG AVATAR
  • Last Airbender a.k.a. Last Chance For M. Night to make a comeback before I give up on him. And I even liked the Village.
  • I want this movie to surprise me and turn out well, but all expectations are low. I can't imagine the teaser trailer being anything special, but with all the bad word of mouth that has gone on since the casting it would do well to try and wow the audience.
  • Another reason for me to go see Transformers. Ive been following Frank Marshall on his twitter (didn't check it today) and he's been saying some good things about the film. Like Appa will be a mixture of mechanical and visual effects, I guess that means some cgi?. And he also said awhile back that the budget for all 3 films is around $250million which, depending how you look at it, can be good or bad. And he's really good at answering people back when they have a question.
  • matt
I'm more concernced about the casting of Dev Patal, not because of the fact a kid of indian ancestory has been cast in a role that is meant to be the fantasy equivlant of Feudal Japan, but because he just doesn't fit the character of Zuko at all.
  • That's who playing Zuko? Man this is going to be a train wreck of a movie. I loved the show but Bad Director, and the Castings have been so.

    Fire Nation = Middle East

    Water Tribe = White

Air Nation = 1 White Boy

Earth Kingdom = I think Korean People
  • killerchopsticks
Its been reported that the Earth Kingdom is Asians, Africans, other minorities actually.
  • Lol. Raciiiiiiiiiist. I love Avatar. Hardcore fans are not gonna watch this.
  • mrpresident
    yeeah, dev sucks!!
  • The Last Airbender started pre-production when Camerons Avatar was in post-production.

I can't believe we're getting a Last Airbender trailer confirmation before James Cameron's Avatar
  • Avatar is supposedly pushing the boundaries of movie making and CG. It's going to take longer than a live action adaptation of (an admittedly excellent) children's television show.
  • Ruy
What are you talking about? Shyamalan is a excelent director! Few directors shoot a scene like him. But we can´t say the same abou his abilities as a writer. Who wrote the screenplay?
  • I think you have it backwards. He's an excellent screenwriter but not the greatest director. The things that run through the man's head are simply astounding. The idea behind his absolute worst movie (The Happening) was even great. He just has no clue how to execute his ideas and show them on the screen. He needs to either stop directing or start writing novels (His ideas could possibly compare to Stephen King in terms of brilliance)
  • I'm really curious to see this trailer even if it is just a teaser. I know almost nothing about the cartoon and I know I'm one of very few M. Night fans that still admit to being M. Night fans so I'm interested to see what he will do with this film that is not his own creation.
  • Alan Geiss
    CLOVERFIELD 2 Trailer!
    and
    Avatar
  • it's a smart move putting the Airbender trailer before RotF though. everyone and their mother will be in the theater.
  • marz
alan.. you took the words right out of my mouth.i've been thinkin ..how sweeet it would be to see a cloverfield trailer attached to transformers..seeing thats how we found out about the first cloverfield, but with JJ making star trek i dont see how it would be possible unless he just had others working on it.i would also be happy if avatar was the trailer, however, back when these movies were first announced, wasnt there a little animosity over the use of the avatar name?? i might be wrong here..and hopefully i am.
  • Ezekial
Isn't this film coming out July 2010 and you're expecting a final trailer with G.I. Joe?

...okay then. Anyways, I am EXTREMELY excited for this, because I mean, it's Avatar. With live action...white people. And a couple of Indians, it's an M. Night Shyamalalamadingdong movie, so it's a bit expected. xD
  • I hope this is a return to form for M.Night. I love his first three films, thought The Village was okay, but found very little redeeming qualities in Lady in the Water and The Happening. Come on Night, surprise us all and make a great movie again! Please!
  • I'm ignoring the entire race debacle that Airbender fans seem to be so angered about. Its getting a little carried away with certain fans even threatening the cast/crew and the studio.

From the set pictures and costume designs it looks like M.Night is actually trying to at least stay faithful to the appearance of the setting that was present in the cartoon.

I wonder if the teaser will just be dialogue and the films title or if it will actually contain footage.

Either way I'm mainly looking forward to how ILM will create the airbending techniques that were pretty nifty looking in the show. I'm sure they'll do a great job though.
  • there are set pictures??
  • Yes several. Some extra's from the Water tribe too.
  • Jen
People who threaten anyone isn't a fan. At that point they've passed a line.

The race thing though concerns a lot of us who are parents, teachers and people who work with kids. We see every day the result of Asian American kids not having a positive social message about people like them. They get the idea that they can only be certain things when they don't see strong heroic characters that they can relate to. Unlike white kids, they can be very aware that the heroes in all their favorite TV shows and movies aren't like them.

Its just a bad message to send to kids that their cultural heritage is considered cool and awesome to pull from, but that Asian American actors are still hitting a glass ceiling when it comes to being the main hero.
  • Sorry but the screenplay was written by Shyamalan but this is his first adaptions so it could turn out way different.
  • Sorry but the screenplay was written by Shyamalan but this is his first adaptions so it could turn out way different.
  • M. Night Shyamalan needs this one to be a winner. His few films have been horrible. I really enjoyed The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs(however with a few more viewings I had more problems with it). I truly hope M. Night can be back the goods for Airbender!
  • marz
this is a new and totaly different direction for m. night and i still have faith in him.after watching the sixth sense,i was so amazed with the film and the story line, that everything he does,i look forward to...even after he makes a bad film.some say his story telling is going down hill but i think because airbender is already its own story and not made up by m night,it should do well and...yesss,i'll be there.maybe going a different way is what alot of directors AND people need to do if the 'usual' doesnt work for them anymore. and remember how alot of you hated the fact that the director of charlies angels was doing terminator??!!now look! one of the most antisapated movies this year.i know folk like to poke at mike bay to..calling him hack...high on himslef..etc but who in hollywood aint.so what if he has alot of explosions.hell, thats what i WANT to see in an action movie.he doesnt do drama,he doesnt do horror,he does ACTION.i know the bandwagon is fun to be on..especialy when it earns you a thumbs up on here but..every now and then, get off, stretch ya legs, speak ya mind and if they dont like it,well, life goes on.
  • As terrible as M Night is, and how convinced I am he will cast himself as the hero, I am effing stoked. I adore Avatar
  • Megan
Ugh. I'm anxious on how this will turn out, especially considering M. Night's previous films haven't exactly been... spectacular. I'm giving the guy a chance, and I'm sure he'll do as good as he can, though. Me being a very hardcore Avatar fan, I'm slightly paranoid and am expecting the worse to come from this.

Meanwhile, I shall be counting down the days until the first teaser trailer premieres...
  • Jen
Yep. A bunch of white people inserted as people of colour. What a fantastic twist. Glad to see that there's still the rare leading role for white actors.
  • brianna
you might want to check your info - there are no "white" people playing "people of colour", or any other ethnicity. Get your facts straight.
  • Brandon
I think M. Night will be great plus the co-creators will be working with him on the film. PLUS it makes sense that people who use fire ala sun will have darker skin. IN FACT there are MORE people of color in this movie because you will see more people from the fire nation and anyone who knows Avatar knows that fire nation does not equal the bad guys. I can't wait! plus I hope they use Appa! Think the never ending story!
  • Tavia
Oh, yes. Absolute love, love the idea of white people in the substitute of asian. Hey. Apearantly, white is the new asian.
  • Archangel
I just hope this doesn't disappoint as badly as dragonball. I might just have to slap M. Night if he fucks this up.
  • We, asians, are greatly offended by these wrecthed movie (which i'm not gonna see i will tell everyone not to).

Zuko is supposed to be asian and asian only. Indian doesn't cut it!.. Indians are poor replacements for asians, yes, MNighty i am talking to you.

And Aang is supposed to asian too. Yet he played by some texan white boy. How stupid can one be to not to get it?

At least now that we know how he looks like we (offended asians, protesters and members of racebending campaign) can find him in real life, talk to him, and make him not to destroy his life with involvement in this stupic pile of crap that this movie is going to be (no need to look into crystal ball to know it: it was destroyed the moment casted their first non-asian actor in what was supposed to be all-asian cast).

Katara and Sokka are supposed to be asians as well. Come on! Everyone are!

Only racists can think that there is a place for a single non-asian actor in this movie.

Apparently, that is exactly who all of the crew of this horrible movie are.
  • brianna
There were a whole bunch or westerns made by Clint Eastwood, in Sicily that cast Italians as Mexicans. Is that racist? Is it racist to have an Indian actor playing an Iraqi on the very popular TV show, LOST? Just 10 years ago there were barely any faces on TV but white and African American. Actors are to be good at playing characters other than they are. To say that any one ethnicity "owns" a role, is just as messed up as the days of "black face". Should we take this further and say that Mexicans and Koreans should never work in Italian restaurants? Seriously, you guys will just make this movie more popular by protesting.
  • I'm asian and now they're going to destroy what was going to be the best thing that Asia could give to USA and a rest of the world. I would never got my self interested in a show if it hasn't featured people who look like me (slanted eyes, tan), because it just would be deep enoough.

Take hits of the last years.

Transformers? They're making an apaptation of originally japanese-made show, and they don't have a single asian in the cast???... Stupidissimo.

Dark Knight? All asians that are in the movie are villains (that mob bookkeeper and chinese cops). Stupid movie.
  • Sin City. The only asian in a movie was a killer and sword master (oh! the stereotypes!!! how come all roles asians can get in hollywood are swords master or kung-fu masters!! i hate those stereotype!! every single movie that has an asian as a kung-fu master is bad by definition). And she even had a shuriken shaped like a german swastika!! Can it get more offensive that that? Of course i haven't watched the movie, but due to reasons listed above it can't be good.

Even "Up", which hit the theaters this week is racist -- it features asian boy who looks stupid and inferior to some white old guy. I didn't watched "Up" because of just that (and am not gonna to -- i won't -- the movie is bad cause it's racist and that's it).

This practive needs to be stopped. We must stop Hollywood from doing this. We must hire lawyers and bring multi-million suits for every second movie they're doing becase every other movie they make is a obvious and offense in our faces.
