Rob Zombie’s MySpace account handlers have been getting busy with the H2 image posting of late. This morning, not only did the MySpacemeisters post a new picture of Shape-looking Shatner-masked Mike Meyers lurking about in a basement, they also seemed to slip and slap up a second, altogether more interesting image of Myers in his tramp rags, coming face to face with a rather interesting young character…

Of course, that image only lasted a matter of seconds on the site before being yanked… but caches are wonderful things, and after the break, I’ll present both of the pictures to you.

Here’s the one we were supposed to see:

And here’s the one I think we were supposed to only get at a later date:

It’s a fascinating picture I think, this second one, because it shows Zombie playing all sorts of games with the Halloween legacy. Purists won’t like it, of course - but what would they like?

So we see Mike Meyers, in his hobo gear, face hid from us by his hood but presumably fully visible to the little lad. A little lad who, I think you’ll agree, could pass very easily for Mike himself back at the very beginning of his hacking and slashing career. So what’s happening here? Is he going to spare this kid because he identifies with him? Kill him anyway? Or is this only the product of hallucination? Is Myers imagining himself face to face with himself? And… is this the clown-masked kid in the clips, or not?

I’ve got no real idea of any answers to any of that, of course. But this picture does definitely give us some juice to speculate over.

So far, this is the most interesting image I’ve seen from H2 - and that includes the mirror-reflected new mask from the recent footage, or any of the Shape appearances. If I’m going to be hopeful for this film, this one picture has given my optimism the biggest boost received so far.

  • Awesomeness. Zombie's first crack at Halloween struck me as an interesting, ambitious--well, I was going to say failure, but that's not quite right. It just didn't quite impress me as much as I hoped it would. (It doesn't help that I consider the original a damn-near masterpiece.)

But I'm getting more and more intrigued by where he's going with H2. He's growing as a filmmaker every time out, and I don't think there's any question he's talented and has crazy potential. so while I'm not getting my hopes up, I'd give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Thinking its just a run in with a kid towards the end, but you never know. People need to remember, once it's on the internet, IT'S THERE TILL THE END OF TIME.

I have to agreed with this. I was impressed with Zombie's ambition for the first film, even though it turned out to be a disaster. I think hes really free to express himself with this one, as hes not tied down by a story that was already written. Ill keep my hopes up for this one, as a fan of the series, but part of me wont cant help to think this will be a awful mess like the first one.
  • Mike Meyers is REALLY creepy in those pictures above. I wonder what he's gonna do with that kid.
  • c-dub
he is asking the kid where he can find the bootlegged "wolverine origins dvd."

"Purists won’t like it, of course - but what would they like?"

    A good script.

  • Don't believe you. A good script that jumps through their arbitrary hoops, maybe. A good script that rips the whole mythos apart? I don't think so.

Not judging from comments I see here.

Answer me this- Even if one were to like the Myers back story in Zombies remake how can you so easily forgive his total disregard for the Laurie Strode character. She show's up half way through the film and is never really presented as anything but an underwritten after thought. Its like having Nancy being a minor character until the last third of A Nightmare on Elm St. Zombies film was so uneven because of his version of the Laurie Strode character which we all know was the heart of Carpenter's original. How can you so easily forgive that?

  • But that's specific to this case. My argument is against the essential idea of 'reimaginings' being bad. Because they aren't bad by necessity. Some, indeed, have been very, very good.

I am not defending Zombie when I point the finger at blind, purist attitudes to remakes, rehashes and reduxes.
  • If we do away with purists, what hope does the film industry have?
  • I think this film will be really good and maybe have a few scares in it.
  • WHATS SO FASCINATING ABOUT IT?

    Can't wait... MYERS IS BACK.
  • I hope this is as good as the first Halloween that Zombie directed or even better. I like the shape/shatner mask and the 2nd image is a good one.
  • Devil's Rejects was awesome, better than HOTC, so this will be good.

Hating something just because you think it's cool to hate, is not an opinion, it's a reaction.

Tell me guys, what original ideas have you had lately?

Halloween has never been big on sex scenes, and I think Rob Zombie overdid those.

Michael Myers has also never been almost 7 feet tall, him being a normal human height makes him more "guy nextdoor-ish." Which is what a lot of people say makes him scary.

He also had way to much of that little kid in it.
