Sarah Connor Society has gotten their hands on some new concept art from Terminator Salvation.

The beautiful concept paintings by ILM artist Christian Alzmann and visual effects art director Warren Fu includes a big Hunter Killer aerial unit called a Transporter, a different variation of the big robot terminator we’ve seen in the trailers - The Harvester, the mototerminator, and a scale comparison of the robot’s arm up against a human. But most interesting is our first look at SkyNet. You’ve seen the futuristic San Francisco in the Star Trek trailers…. Well, McG’s San Francisco is a 180 degree turn from JJ Abrams’ vision of the future.

I wish they would offer some of this concept art in Giclee prints. I would totally buy a print of the above Golden Gate Bridge painting. More Images after the jump.

You guys are incredible out there. First  Skynet would be  constantly upgrading it's infrastructer as well as it' machines. I think the bikes are a pretty cool Ideal,if you do not, watch the trailer. I also like the concept art and the artist. So lay off on the artist, Drbendy I do not see you making the effort.

Christian is also an Art Director, and in the main Visual FX Art director on the movie.
  • Wonderful concept art, just hope that they have handled the CGI correctly and it transfers to the film well. It would spoil everything if it looked too fake.

The buildings there are far too tall to be possible in the future!
  • woow
  • that gigantic robot looks extremely awesome... just a little over a month more.

This concept art is nothing short of awful. Looks like a 486 computer game, photoshop: the death of the artist.
  • Looks like Los Angeles by 2019... sans Harrison Ford.
  • I was thinking the same thing. Looks like the opening sequence in Bladerunner, especially the fire coming out of those smokestacks.
  • I don't see how these two first photos are different from the new Star Trek film, they look kind of similar...
  • Bobby
lol you were being sarcastic right? Anyways I love the concept art. I hope Salvation really looks as dark and depressing as this future looks so we can really see and feel the desperation of the humans in the film.
  • The only similarity is the location.
  • Why only SanFran? Is everyone afraid to use NYC all of a sudden? I know The Day The Earth Stood Still was bad, but not THAT bad.
  • Maybe it's because all of the previous Terminator films have been based in California.
  • NYC has gotten blown up in movies enough times. Give SF a chance. It's been over a decade since The Rock.
  • freemachine
    Yes, it was THAT bad.
  • This I actually agree with you.
  • Hollywood stop burning my city in your movies, first Star Trek now Terminator...LOL.
  • I'm sure many of you don't watch the terminator sarah connor chronicles show but I have been keeping up with it and the 2nd season finale was one of the most incredible endings I have seen to any show. if anything terminator interests you then I would give it a chance. it might surprise you.
  • Now see, this really wouldn't fly. If there's one thing you should know about San Francisco, it's that the citizens are very provincial. The photos show a very dark and gloomy deco style that would clash with the liberal disposition of San Franciscoan inhabitants.

I came in this thread to find just this clever comment. You nailed it sir. Kudos
  • That is, unless San Francisco was wiped out by killer robots resembling their governor.

Why am I looking forward to this more than Star Trek, Wolverine and Trannyformers?

    Christian Bale and Jonathan Nolan
  • Pretty Bad Ass Bike
  • The bikes always crack me up. I can't believe those are in the film.
  • They call it... the Golden Gate Bridge.
  • Some nice concept art. I really like the bikes. Yeah I know it's possibly one of the dumbest ideas but I like them.
  • C-Jam
Hey man, they were actually working on technology that let motorbikes drive themselves. It didn't work out exactly but it isn't entirely insane...
  • Take that you self driving motorcycle hating idiots out in the world. That's cool to know I guess. I just thought that it wasn't a good idea to have it in the film and I know for a fact everyone hates the idea. I just like the concept art and the bits and pieces that we get from the trailer of the bikes.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that reaction to the bikes. It looks cool as hell, but just seems like a odd choice of vehicle. A bike can't transport anything and would only be good for patrols and pursuits, two things the hunter-killers are far more superior at.
  • Great point, yeah they're pretty much useless other than the fact that they can go fast and possibly terminate people quicker. But like you said, the hunter-killers are alot better at something like that.

I guess it's too bad that no on else likes the bikes. The bikes are very unique and I really didn't think they would use a bike in this movie the way they are. It's a great idea that the fans will hate.

Pretty great stuff. Second pic reminds me of the beginning of Braid.
  • Looks like Los Angeles in 2019...
  • Love the fact that these recent movies have been showing apocalyptic SF instead of the usual NY or LA.
  • Also ironic since Mark Protosovic's script for I AM LEGEND was actually set in San Francisco. I blame Akiva Goldsman for ruining the script and everything else I did not like about that movie.
  • Considering some already believe SF is the Apocalypse, it is rather fitting.
  • Elvis Lives
    LOL.
  • Oh the finale of SCC makes me just can't wait for this movie.
  • it sure is sweet! i hope the story is good and they don't get out of hand with it. keep it real McG!
  • The concept art is sweet. Cant wait for the movie :D
  • Ruprecht
This isn't concept art, and they got the wrong bridge. That's just a recent photo of the Bay Bridge, with Oakland clearly visible in the background.
