slashfilm on twitter

/Film Contributors: Dave Chen, Devindra Hardawar, Adam Quigley, Hunter Stephenson, Brendon Connelly, Kevin Kelly, Steve Mason

Listing Rules:

I’ve tried to concentrate on working actors over celebrities (for example, I didn’t include Britney Spears). I’ve tried to put everyone in the category that they are best known for. For example, Kevin Smith is better known as a director than actor or writer and Roger Avary is better known as a writer than director (at this point).

So that the list doesn’t get too crowded, I’m only going to include actors, writers and directors that have had a major film released (with a few exceptions). We now have nearly 100 twitter accounts! I’m sure there might be some people I missed (especially in the screenwriter section). If you know of any credited screenwriters, directors or actors that we may have missed, please leave their Twitter names in the comments below.

    AAAHHHH

Twitter is by far the most pathetic, lame ass internet fad ever. Not only do I not give a shit about the random nonsense that everyday users of Twitter feel they need to share (as well as the random nonsense Facebook users display in their "status"), but I care even less about the shit celebrities feel like making public as we continue to shower them with undeserved adulation and praise. All Twitter does is confirm how sadly narcissistic our society has become.
  • not cool
  • Nick
    hahahaha

"Oh man I wonder what Kevin Smith said today. I haven't checked my Twitter page in like 10 minutes."
  • And yet you read this article any way.
  • Jesse
do you hate life and/or are you bitter much?
easy enough for you to say since nobody probably cares about you.
  • Nick
That's a reasonable response, and although I might be slightly pessimistic, no, I am not bitter. The difference is, I don't feel the need to seek attention and/or sympathy on Twitter. And you nailed it Jesse, no one cares for me.
  • Hahahahahaha! This is one of the best ironic rants I've read in a while. Random person "Nick" could care less about the inane banterings of nobodies on TT and FB, and cares even less of celebrities who update their "statuses" on these services—yet he has the need to share HIS inane banterings on a blog that he didn't create himself. Please, Nick, just sign up for Twitter and join the human race. You have just as much need to share something, anything, as that *sshat, Ashton Kutcher. Just be honest with yourself. .LOLz
  • Nick
Very true, but you will find very few of my comments on this site or any other. The only reason I comment on sites like these is because I enjoy movies more than most things. Besides, there is a difference between a comment section where you can discuss your opinions and the crap people post on Twitter. I commented on this post and continue to reply to responses because this Twitter thing truly does bother me and I find the negative feedback funny because it proves exactly why I hate Twitter so much. And I'll admit, I gave twitter a try a while back and attempted to "join the human race". But, no surprise, I canceled my account after 2 or 3 weeks because of the reasons I've already explained.
  • Fair enough. Twitter's not for everyone. I do agree with you, that at some level, Twitter, because it's so instantaneous, and sometimes thoughtless, exposes a lot of life's banality and triviality. But, actually, I think this is a good thing--ESPECIALLY--when you see celebrities post their statuses. Here's why: we put celebrities on a pedestal, as if they're better than us, or more interesting than us. But when you see a Tweet from them, "Stuck in traffic, this sucks!" or "Going to the store to get diapers and beer!" they get revealed for being just as normal, and, perhaps boring as we are. And then, for me, I get over my fascination with them -- they're just people whose job happens to be on a stage, under hot lights. Big deal. Generally, btw, I find regular people on Twitter much more intersting to follow than so-called celebrities. This kind of communication has the ability to break down artificial barriers. I think that's good. Tweet on.
  • Twitter is great! Thanks for the list, very helpful.
  • Tursini
Apparently Hugh Jackman just joined the twitterverse as well...http://twitter.com/RealHughJackman.
  • Phil
Why no cinematographer love? I'm sure they are out there.
  • No one ever loves the cinematographer. Wasn't the first oscar ever presented by a cinematographer given out this year?
  • GoodChowder
Thank you for providing access to the lives of people far more interesting than our friends and family.
  • I swore to not give in to Twitter, but this list is not helping!
  • haha i feel your pain.. I caved a looong time ago.
  • mcte
Not all of these are correct, by the way. Miranda cosgrove's is mirandabuzz, not mcosgrove. If you check out the writer/creator of her show iCarly, (twitter.com/danwarp), you'll see that he clears up that she is definitely mirandabuzz and not mcosgrove.
  • who cares about miranda cosgrove
  • Ah, the only reason why I joined Twitter was (after reading the first of these posts) to just be friends with celebrities so that, every few days, I could go on and feel like they were talking to me personally.
Thanks for supporting my creepy self-affirmations!
  • I'm so glad you are doing this Peter, because Lord knows I don't want to take the time, and these people are great to follow.
  • You can add @miraclelaurie to that list (from Dollhouse)
  • john holmes
wait, wil wheaton is still considered an "actor"? he was barely an actor when he WAS an actor!
  • sleepinginflame
he's still acting though! mostly voice over stuff, but he was also recently on an episode of criminal minds. so yeah, he's an actor.
  • ik_
Peter you should mention some of your friends and colleagues from other sites too. The conversations and arguements between @firstshowing, @rejects, @devincf, @edouglasww, @latinoreview, @elguapo1, @williambgoss, @ericdsnyder, @erikdavis, @scottbweinberg and others are some of the most entertaining, funniest and sometimes informative things that go down on twitter.
  • Melly
maybe start a list of actors from tv shows?? @jamesroday and @dulehill from Psych @jerrytrainor and @jennettemccurdy from iCarly @danwarp is Dan Schneider who created/wrote/directed Drake and Josh, iCarly, Zoe 101
  • Thanks for the list Peter.
  • andrewdillaha
as long as i have peter on my friends list....
  • Mikey
Uhhh I feel embarassed to tell you this but here's two more.

    @theRobPattinson and @KristenjStewart
  • Troy
Um, doesn't Roger Avary have more important things to worry about than updating his Twitter, like -- I don't know -- his trial for manslaughter?
  • WOW MAN, this is a great update!

One little thing though: J.R. Orci is a writer, not an actor, as far as I know...and it's not just FRINGE...also ALIAS & JOURNEYMAN.
  • Dylan
I think Kevin Smith and Judd Apatow will be fun to follow.

    cinemaspark.blogspot.com
  • BobbyBoo
    Blake synder...Save The Cat!
  • You should make a list of confirmed FAKE Twitter accounts
  • Peter. If you want to add TV people too there is @donttrythis (Adam Savage of Mythbusters)
  • Reggie
You guys suck for putting Miley Cyrus on this list.

But thanks for the rest...I guess.....-stews in hatred of little girl-
  • Aaron
Nicholas Stoller didn't write Forgetting Sarah Marshall, he directed it.
  • Elaine
    Actor/Director Melanie Mayron (thirtysomething) @melaniemayron52 , producer ( Monster) @bradwyman , writer/producer (Heroes) Jesse Alexander @globalcouch , actor (Aaron Stone, The Replacements) J.P. Manoux @JPManoux , actor Jon Hamm @JohHamm
  • Elaine
    Also forgot!!! @janefonda Jane Fonda!
  • Happy_Evil_Dude
    Kristen Stewart: Kbitch
    Vanessa Hudgens: VanessaHudgens
    Sophia Bush: SophiaBush
    Emma Watson: mwtsnx
    Rachel Bilson: rachel_bilson
    Nikki Reed: itsnikkibitch

And you should be able to find quite a few not featured here: http://www.celebritytweet.com/
  • I'm always disappointed to see @feliciaday snubbed by these lists.
  • Nick
Did I read the article? Or did I see the post on the main page and head straight to the comments section so I could rant?
  • I'm pretty sure a couple of those are fake. Emma has publicly said that she is not on Twitter.
  • Justin
You've missed @feliciaday from The Guild and Dr. Horrible and new-to-twitter @grantimahara from Mythbusters
  • Following the celebrities on Twitter is really entertaining. Our society may be narcissistic as the first person commented, but I think that most people just want a release from their daily grind. Even the fake celebrity accounts are entertaining, as most focus their efforts on portraying that celebrity's persona as closely as possible.
  • And there's @John_Schneider TV/Film/Stage actor and the "real" Bo Duke. http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0773884/
  • Wasabi Steak
*paitiently waits for Kristin Kreuk to get on twiter*
  • Nice list you have updated. This will be huge by the end of the year.
  • Infrafan
Thank God you put Fred Durst. We all want to know what he's been up too since his glorious days as a musician. Hold on, my sarcasm detector is going off.
  • Juiceless
You need a sarcasm detector to detect your own sarcasm?
  • Vlad
Silly question - but who's to say these are all legit? What keeps a person from just creating a Twitter account using the name of some Hollwood persona? Someone sent me the Twitter address for Christopher Walken. The account was updated 4-5 times a day. Not that I don't think Mr. Walken has better things to do with his time. Okay, actually I do think exactly that.
