the touch

Stan Bush’s 1986 song “The Touch” which was featured in the soundtrack for Transformers: The Movie, and later covered by Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights, is making a comeback thanks to the upcoming release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. According to Bush, “The Touch” will be featured on several of the toys for the new film and might even be featured in the movie itself. Stan says he has recorded a new “killer version” of the song, and submitted it for the film.

If that isn’t enough, Activision will be releasing the song as a free download for Guitar Hero sometime in the next couple months, and Stan has announced that he will be performing live at the Transformers convention Botcon 09, which takes place in Los Angeles on May 30th 2009. I have included the original 1980’s music video after the jump.

  • I need to hear this "killer version" now.
  • Dr. Lizardo
what an unbelievably excellent music video. They sure don't make 'em like they used to.
  • This is pretty neat. At least this is a relevant cover, considering the timing and subject matter. I'm impressed. However, no matter how 'killer' this new version is, nothing will top that song which absolutely reeks of 80s goodness!!
  • you know what this need more Hair Band POWER CORD!!!

Oh Stan Bush...why couldn't it have been Rock Band? Or both even. Thought I can't imagine who it will integrate into Revenge of the Fallen.
  • icko
just give us "dare" for rock band and were even.....
  • Guitar Hero World Tour seems like it's been a complete failure. Everywhere you see, stores are slashing the prices on the complete band kits. They just don't sell.

I personally feel sorry for anyone who wasted their almost 200 bucks.

I think one of the reasons is because their song lists isn't that great. To me, it's like someone working at a Hot Topic compiled them.
  • This song is so catchy. I guess its just got that special touch. I'm looking forward to listening to this new version of "Touch" (hopefully its not to updated that it sounds like a generic alternative rock song).

  • Good Song. But I've always been a bigger fan of two particular Stan Bush songs...

Of course, that is just the JCVD fan from my childhood creeping out.

That song was awesome for the first animated Transformers movie. I still remember that freaking song. But I don't think it'll fit the new movie.
  • Holy shit.
  • Brodeo
Good lord, I thought that song in Boogie Nights was a made-for-the-movie parody of awful "Eye of the Tiger"-type 80's music. I had no idea that it was actually a cover of an existing... serious... song.... dear god.
  • INS
that brings back some memories, great song
  • Epic...
  • That was a great song, when I was a kid and it was featured in a cartoon movie, you know back when we ate cookies all day and vegged out and wore bright stupidly colored clothing and thought heavy metal was loud and scary. Back when I had no taste in music because I didn't know any better...but now I do. I could stand it playing as the last song during the credits, but other than that I don't want to hear it ever, ever again. Ugh.
  • I can just visualize the scene where it comes on an Optimus runs over a dozen Decepticons. Sure does bring back the memories.

  • The only question I have is "Is Vince DiCola involved in this new version?"

    No Vince no care.
  • That's awesome and amazing. (Extreme sarcasm intended)
  • excellent
this song is soooo good. i reaally love it
