Dave also chats with Watchmen illustrator Dave Gibbons about his inspirations behind the original graphic novel. Special guest Russ Fischer joins us from CHUD.

  • All I can say is I literally had goosebumps while watching the Terminator trailer. It was fan-fucking-tastic. Let's hope it doesn't turn out like The Day the Earth Stood Still, which also had a great trailer, and suck.

  • Devindra Hardawar is definitely my favorite critic of the three. All three are very entertaining, but when it's about liking the right movies, there is no question Devindra has the best taste.

    I still can't believe that when people talk about ''American Teen'' (the really fake Documentary), no one mentions the FOX/PBS doc series "American High" (which came out in 2000 and doesn't feel scripted). In the series, which FOX cancelled an PBS picked up for the entirety of the series, about 10 student subjects plus peripheral students are followed throughout the school year. The main subjects got their own handicams to record what they want. The ''American High'' doc crew pretty much camped out in the school like in ''American Teen'' and there are similar types of characters, but it was nice not being told which ''breakfast club'' characters I was supposed to be referencing throughout. The overall film quality of "American High" takes a back seat to the realism which helps cement the authenticity of that series. I don't think you can watch the doc series anywhere now though, so the sad fact remains that "American Teen'' is the only alternative.
  • Michel Gondry might do a good job with Green Hornet because he didn't write it. He wrote and directed Be Kind Rewind, but he only directed Eternal Sunshine.

  • Didn't Fox promise that Dollhouse would get 13 episodes to build an audience? I don't see them yanking it early and I don't think they'll make a decision until after the season is over.
