Terminator Salvation Movie Trailer #2

terminator salvation marcus wright's head

Warner Bros has released the new trailer for Terminator Salvation, which will be attached to Watchmen, on Yahoo. The trailer gives us a better look at the story of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a man who discovers the hard way that he’s no longer human, and is instead a Cyborg Terminator. It’s kinda of like the opposite of The Matrix — instead of finding out that the world you know is fake, you discover that you are, in many ways, not who you thought you were. We get to see how the machines imprison the humans in giant cattle bins, using their stem cells to create a more realistic, more human-looking form of Terminators. Watch the new trailer after the jump. Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

In the highly anticipated new installment of “The Terminator” film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on Yahoo. Terminator Salvation hits theaters on May 21st 2009.

  • Nine Inch Nails! I love those guys but I'm not sure if it sets the epic tone. The music in the last trailer was awesome. This trailer is bomb diggity though.
  • One of the most well structured trailers I've seen in a long time. Hopefully thats because it has some bearing on the actual material we're going to be seeing. I thought the watchmen trailer attached to the Dark Knight in iMax was great but it did conceal a lot of the shallower performances.
This does give you a slice of Bales range as John conner though, it signaled to me a somewhat more refreshing grasp on the plot and action that I originally though. Who knows from two minutes though, but this is a pretty good hint that a good film might be there and now I'm really going to the theater. Damn you McG! Don't break it!

  • I'm on the fence with this one. Well structured, maybe, but somewhat slow - old school even... maybe that's just me (way too) used to the modern trailers. whatever, I'm interested in the film.
  • xzactly, more a preview than a trailer. Not some random plug for television or the internet. Once upon a time you could only see previews in the the theater.

  • werf
    wow!
  • Zinc
Expect a .gif of Christian shooting that mini gun when the movie comes out.
  • this trailer is made of epic win. can't wait for this, let's hope we get the R rated cut.

and i loved the inclusion of NIN.
  • Yeah I don't see McG getting his supposed R version, it will be PG-13... Also am I the only one who wished they didn't show that Marcus is a machine in the trailers? I dunno, I just think that probably would have been cool to find out in theaters. Awesome trailer though, I feel more confident every day that McG made a good Terminator and didn't fuck up the series anymore like I thought he would.
  • Mack41
I agree with you on the Marcus aspect, but it was inevitably going to leak through early reviews and there was already some suspicion that he was a machine... Like when T2 came out they tried to hide the fact that Arnold was good but that was spoiled in the reviews from the film... I just hope that the Marcus as a Terminator stuff is revealed within the first 30 minutes of the film so that we can get on with being surprised with what else there is. And yeah, McG's looking like a good choice with each passing piece of new info.
  • Jordan
Yeah I thought Marcus being a Terminator was a spoiler! haha. From the looks of it, I'm thinking they find him, and he's beaten up badly, so they try to help him, and soon figure it out. So hopefully we won't see him as a regular person for half the movie, trying to guess when they'll find out his secret.
  • No, I'm with you there (about Marcus). I still think this is gonna be one the years bad-assier films though. Can't wait! xD
  • Mr. X
You may be witnessing the beginning of how terminators get organic....Like Arnold in #2. But an earlier model...Read on:

Unlike the T series Terminators, the I series are not factory built machines. Skynet decided that the best way for one of its terminators to act human was to start out with a human and add technological enhancements where necessary. The I-950 starts out as a baby with a neural net processor attached to its brain, providing an uplink to Skynet. To condition it physically, it is coaxed with holographic toys to crawl until it is exhausted. After four years, it is given an injection that rapidly ages it to maturity to finish its training. In an effort to blend in better with humans, the I-950 is allowed to feel emotions, but the range is limited by one of its cybernetic implants. Because it is far more human than machine, dogs are not alerted to its presence, and the infiltrator can go undetected for extremely long periods of time inside a resistance base.
  • I thought this movie was going to be good. Then I saw this trailer and now I think its going to be really good. I thought the movie was about whether or not they knew if Sam Worthington was a Terminator or not. The fact that he is a Terminator and thinks he is human adds a whole new psychological element to the film.
  • looks phat! gets better every time they release more footage. i believe in christian bale!
  • I have to admit I doubted McG's ability to pull this off but this look VERY BAD ASS!!! I am very excited now, VERY EXCITED.
  • Brian from OR
    Looks like fun!
  • now I see why Michael Bay is pissed This could be bigger than Transformers 2
  • It will definitely be bigger than Transformers 2. Transformers is a kid's movie (Not that I don't love it). This movie excretes deep plotlines.
  • I wonder which is bigger, the Devestator from Transformers 2, or the Harvester from Terminator Salvation?
  • how big is the harvester supposed to be? looks like he's maybe 60 feet tall or so. can't really tell.
  • I'm glad Transformers are getting more work in film.
  • That's a pretty awesome trailer for what should be a pretty awesome movie. Love that McG and Co are fleshing out the future story more in the Terminator mythos....bad pun intended.
  • OK, I'm f'n sold.
  • With an actual story too. Big explosions AND a story...showoffs.
  • Demoncleaner
The song is, "The day the whole world went away" from Nine Inch Nails- The Fragile album. I've always been a huge fan of this cd and have used songs from the album in some of my own films. Man on Fire has a few from the Fragile as well. As much as i like NIN and the tone their music can set in a film, I don't feel like this is a very good fit for Terminator.
  • I know what you mean, NIN just didn't capture what I was seeing in the trailer. This music was no where near as good as how "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning" by Smashing Pumpkins captured Watchmen. But, nonetheless this was an amazing trailer. I'm actually excited for this movie now.
  • both are great, but i agree with you and give the edge to pumpkins in watchmen.
  • i kind of liked it in this trailer. but that's just me.

and to add to your statement about music from The Fragile getting used a lot, i believe "Just Like You Imagined" was on the badass trailer for 300.
  • filmkid
McG is a real "G" to done this i hope its R-Rated
  • poop
    dang dat was epic
  • Dr. Lizardo
wow, this is one of the best railers I've ever seen.
  • Was that the same nuclear explosion as seen in Terminator 3? It looked like the exact same shot... I guess I shouldn't be too surprised if it is.
  • Dang. I've been looking forward to this movie for a while but this... I was just flattened by that trailer. I say again, Dang.
That is a well cut trailer.
  • Assface
Terminator Galactica anyone? Looks awesome...they're definitely borrowing the "What?! I'm a robot?!" storyline from BSG, but this looks pretty badass nonetheless...
  • I''m pretty sure that theme has been well played out long before BSG.
  • Mouse
    yea way before
  • Try Philip K. Dick.
  • Lee
I have to say that NIN song really works for me.

This film is really going to give Transformers 2 a run for its money!

    Take that Michael Bay!!!!!!!!!

    Eat Snacky Smores.
  • Totally agree, wow. Suck it Bay!
  • skippy
    yeah, take that Michael Bay!
  • It's money?

    Our money. Always our money.
  • K so Mc Director out did himself on the taking the epic rock song( See: Watchmen trailer #1) and making it go well with every money shot from his movie!

did I spy Bryce dallas howard in there? or was that a lookalike?

maybe in the next terminator movie there will be a girl robot with a machine gun leg! ( *fart noise with mouth*)
  • Very solid trailer to what looks like a great summer movie, I'm actually more excited to see this than I am to see Transformers 2...I always believed in you McG, lets just hope we don't get the washed down PG-13 crap...We are Americans give us Violence and Moon Bloodgood's boobies!!!
  • Holy crap. I didn't want to set my expectations too high, but I think subconsciously I did anyways. Regardless, that trailer surpassed what I expected. Can't wait.

  • I was interested in this film, but nowhere near as much as I am now. Between the NIN music and the expansion on the Marcus Wright plotline has got me really interested. Let's hope they get their R rating.
  • Stryker
Wow. Never thought the trailer for a McG movie would ever make me shit my pants.
