total film star trek

The latest issue of Total Film Magazine is being released in four collectible Star Trek covers. The new photo above of Kirk and Spock coming face to face with Nero on the Bridge’s video screen. Check out the photo and covers in higher resolution on TotalFilm.com.

Also, SciFi Wire confirmed today that a contract has been signed with Paramount to reopen the Star Trek The Experience exhibit in Las Vegas on May 8th (to coincide with the release of J.J. Abram’s new movie) with a new restaurant and retail shop.

I really don't want to be spoiled for this movie. I really liked the Imax preview for Dark Knight, but I think it would have been much better if I waited for the film. It's like watching a Pixar film with just the outlines and no color. I hate trailers that give the whole movie away so I can't go see the film. All these pics, make it look worth seeing, but most people are going to see a Star Trek film anyway, so it really isn't worth all the advertisements. It should be mysterious like with Cloverfield.

You'd think in the future there would be a a clearer picture.

You'd think in the future there would be a a clearer picture when it comes to big video screens.
  • if you look at the picture you can clearly see a divergent green and red, obviously the display is 3D and Spock has yet to put on his shades.
  • well, the iMac's built-in iSight leaves a lot to be desired. Not the best picture resolution.

Star Trek: The Experience was OK. They had a bar (Quarks) that sold Trek-themed food and drink, a Promenade with a bunch of shops selling Trek crap, a museum with props and such and the rides. The rides were OK. The original Klingon one was neat. The Borg one was really silly.
  • Yeah they had it in the Las Vegas Hilton, previously the MGM Grand.
  • All that technology in the future, you'd think they'd get a clear video signal sorted for their 'video wall'. See, this is why science fiction grits my sh*t. I just can't let things off the hook and go with the flow. Thankfully this Star Trek 'reimagining' looks horrible enough to NOT go see.
  • Uh I think it will be fun, though yeah Star Trek deserves a lot more then dumb fun... Also I generally cringe when ever I hear a character say "Buckle Up", thats just such an action movie line cliche. But apparently Kevin Smith loved it so I think it will be good.
  • Apparently Nero will be appearing in RealD?

First of all, they had more than Romulan Ale. They had about 15-20 different drinks.
also, they had costumed waiters and waitresses. Who were actually pretty funny. The Klingon had a good rap. Plus an interactive "ride".

I live in Vegas, but I'm not so sure about moving it to downtown to Neonopolis.
  • I can't believe I'm excited for 'Star Trek'...
  • Thank you for summing up my thoughts exactly!
  • Having seen Eric Bana in a serious dramatic role for the first time (Hulk doesn't count) a few weeks ago (i saw Munich), it just looks a little weird to see him with alien makeup.

To be honest, I'm looking forward to seeing him in Funny People a lot more than this.

    You should see "Chopper".
  • Agreed - Chopper is an amazing film.
  • Las Vegas had a Star Trek experience exhibit???

    Did they sell trek-themed beverages?
  • Yea, they sold Romulan Ale... but it apparently was just really crappy beer with blue food coloring.

Agreed, I loved the old Star Trek Experience. My wife and I would stay at the Hilton all the time, however I won't be "trekking" (haha i know) downtown to go see it now. I hate downtown Vegas, its a little scary.

Is the new Star Trek experience really gonna re-open on May 8th 2009?
I've heard rumors that construction hasn't even started on the new location and that date is less than a couple weeks away...

I'm doing a story on early year predictions on Las Vegas and what happened.

Unfortunately, the Star Trek Experience did not open downtown as was predicted. Anyone have any ideas why not?
