reese witherspoon robert downey jr timbur

Robert Downey Jr and Reese Witherspoon are in talks to star in Warner Bros’ The Days Before and Timur Bekmambetov is in negotiations to direct, according to Production Weekly.

Produced by 300 producer Gianni Nunnari, the sci-fi action spec script was written by Chad St. John (who previously worked on the unproduced script The Further Adventures of Doc Holiday for Bruce Willis). Days Before tells the story of a race of aliens who invade Earth by traveling backwards through time and wiping out humanity, one day at a time, yesterday by yesterday. One man attempts to stay “a yesterday ahead of them”, and every time he must try to convince the world that “the end is coming”, again.

Sounds like a promising sci-fi concept, and if Downey Jr is in fact involved, I’m in. Bekmambetov is an extremely visual director, notable for the Night Watch series and most recently the American comic book adaptation Wanted.

Hm! Actually sounds pretty cool, not a huge fan of Witherspoon but...

Downey is never a let down.

    *beats drums*

The concept is a bit confusing.
  • LOL basically just like Day Watch and Night Watch. He is a great visual director but cant tell a story to save his life. He is the definition of style over substance... his movies are fun though because of his visuals.
  • I kind of like it!

I'm sure it's much better explained in the script, but when you put it into a paragraph synopsis, it makes no sense.
  • sounds trippy. i usually like my sci fi movies with more obscure actors though.

something about the familiar faces that makes sci fi movies feel a bit off for me.

I hope RDJ isn't becoming the new "sci fi/ genre" guy. "Cowboys vs. Aliens" better be dead in the water. That was the dumbest concept ever.

Not only that, but it's based on a comic book that was design to become a movie franchise (I think the writer of Cowboys vs Aliens" is a H-Wood producer of some sort)
  • groundhog day with aliens I am in

And a little Memento mixed in too.
  • It sounds interesting, I hope it will all make sense when its done.
  • That sounds an interesting, yet confusing concept, and the casting is as equally as confusing to me; Downey Jr and Witherspoon? I suppose RDJ, because like Will Smith he is golden boy at the moment, in which every project he touches turns to financial/cinematic gold, and Witherspoon hasn't exactly been on the top of her game over the last year or so with the roles she has been given.
  • sounds confusing and a little weird, but okay. As long as robert downey Jr, Witherspoon and Timur are involved, then I guess I would give this a shot.
  • well, hopefully this will give Witherspoon a career boost. She deserves better than those awful roles she's been getting as of late.
  • A part from 'Walk The Line' everything she has been involved with over the last couple of years has been terribly average, and you can't exactly leave her blameless, I mean Reese has the oppurtunity to turn down roles from such crap as 'Four Christmasses' and try to obtain a role in something with a little more...more...class.

interesting..bout time hollywood comes up with something new and refreshing instead of old and recycled..and wanted and night watch were good movies.very artistic.

im a fan of reese witherspoon and i also a fan of robert downey jr and the movie sound excited and i cant wait to see it.
  • I'm not a big fan of Witherspoon, but RDJ and Timur have me excited. The sci-fi elements could be confusing though.
  • This is a really cool concept. I liked it the first time I read it, in a DC comic book called The Kingdom. From Wikipedia: "Using his newfound powers, Gog killed Superman. Unsatisfied by his victory, Gog traveled 24 hours back in time, found Superman, and killed him again, repeating the process over and over, gone back one day further each time, and each time varying the means of Superman's death ..."

wow the aliens are dumb...why would they fight the same humans over and over again? so that their casualty count will rise? just go back all the way and destroy our evolutionary ancestors
  • i will watch anything with robert downey jr with it.
  • Sounds fascinating, especially with Timur directing
