Transformers 2: Devastator to Be Almost 120 Feet Tall

The new issue of Toyfair has an interview with Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who reveals a bunch of new info bits from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Anything from the specs of Devastator to the origins of The Fallen (possible spoiler). You’ve been warned, continue after the jump.

  • Revenge of the Fallen takes Place about one year after the events of the first film.
  • Devastator is almost four times the size of the largest robots from the first film, an estimated 100 - 120 feet tall. Someone on the TWF2005 boards created a size comparison mockup, and if that’s the scale, Devastator is going to be HUGE.
  • And The Fallen’s origins have been confirmed: He is one of the original 13 Transformers. Lorenzo said to think of the 13 as “apostles”. The Falen is the one who caused the Transformers to split into two factions, Autobots and Decepticons.

    jetfire attaches to the back of optimus. they fly above its head, pry open his mouth, drop a bomb down its throat, it explodes, devastator dies in the end.

  • Yup, the Prime is going down in this one, I'm pretty sure. Which is what the series needs, I think - Bay (for all his Bad Boy / Pearl Harbour quick win habits) has been pretty savvy about taking the long view and building up a decent, epic story arc.

    Can't wait to see it play out
  • I sorta feel like even if they do kill of Prime - in the story presented by the movies so far that I really couldnt give a crap - his role in the first movie was baaahhooring and I have no attachment to the new Prime whatsoever.

    The first transformers movie I guess I was already heavily invested in him from the TV Series but not this time around...I guess around here im in the minority in thinking that the entire movie sucked though.

    Meh......I'm not excited for this the first one was o.k once and that's it.I hate bay's designs for the transformers period.They are ugly and you really cannot tell what is going on when they have action scenes.Don't believe me re-watch the first one I saw it on blu-ray on 1080p and still looked terrible.Slow motion explosions,all the patriotic crap (it is NOT the US military vS somebody) and the stupid human sub plots are just plan fluff to say the least.Shia sucks megan fox is just hot eye candy.I really wanted the movie to work I did I am the biggest g1 fan I have a huge collection of toys and other collectibles and maybe that is my problem but,the bastardization of the transformers sucks.I will see it with my 3 year old and enjoy it for what it is.

    Bastardisation of Transformers? Hey i'm a fan but its a cartoon designed to sell toys. It was never going to be Citizen Kane. Still, i agree it could have been better.

    Rumor has it that they are going to have the autobot equivilent of Devastator in this movie, I forgot the name but its the one that forms from a bunch of jets...??? The Fallen robot itself sounds like its going to be around the size of megatron and prime, but more bad ass then both of them combined. I hope IU see JetFire in this one, he was my favorite robot from the original cartoon!

    Superion was the Autobot Gestalt who was made from combining Jets. I haven't heard very much about his appearance in this movie. Besides, Devy was made out of uber large/strong construction vehicles. He has a lot of bulk. Any sort of combiner made from jets would look delicate and insect like.

    doesn't it bother anyone else that they already introduced a "Devastator" in the first movie and now they are coming out with who we all know as "Devastator"? It doesn't make much sense. I also agree with the guy who didn't like the new design of the Transformers. You can't even tell most of them apart especially when they are moving. I think choosing Bay was a huge mistake. The old tv show meant a lot to me and a whole slew of us when we were kids. I would've much rather had these old heroes of mine treated with more dignity. And to whomever said it, Bay is incapable of creating an epic with any depth at all. He makes popcorn movies and The Transformers were never popcorn to me.

    devastator was in the first film by the wrong name. they called him devastator but his name was actually brawl. michael bay liked the name devastator better for the tank type thing that he was. but then later admitted it was a mistake. no biggie.

    Hope Jetfire and Optimus combine. its gotta be super cool. How the hell can any devastator be bigger than megatron and prime. Anyway, I thought he was dead in the 1st movie, blasted by bumblebee. Who is Arcee, hope there was Inferno. Anyway, in the first movie, apart from Prime, all the other Autobots looked puny and possesing less battle weapons compared to the Decepticons. It sucked. Optimus should have kicked the butt of Megatron but it was sort of the opposite in the movie.

    devastator died in the first film but it was really brawl, who is the tank, who died. they just called it the devastator for some reason. they liked the name or something.

    As i said nasty does not mean being large in strength and size. Hope to see a jetfire equivalent to starscream in the next movie. What happened to barricade, he never appeared after bonecrusher was destroyed.
  • First off... Yes!...that's how big a Transformer Gestalt should be!

    And ok, here's my attempt at a prediction....perhaps the "fallen" were the first transformers to come to Earth.....oh....say about 65 million years ago, and became the Dinobots! Then they have to reemerge to defeat Devestator??? I know Bay and Orchi have denied dinobots in this movie, but maybe they're just bluffing ;)

    Dinobots???? I think they should have stuck with just the minicons and the matrix instead of the allspark. The 1st movie was great, but it could have been better. Also being evil and nasty does not mean being larger in size and strength.
