I predict this film will do for The Temper Trap what Garden State did for The Shins. But I hope 500 Days of Summer offers more than Zach Braff's piece of garbage did.
  • why the hate on "Garden State"? allergic to good movies?
  • Everyone likes to think that they hate films like "Garden State" and "Juno," their the same people who are too cool to admit that Hello Kitty is an attractive cat. Just sayin...
  • i know...i don't get why people hate movies just to hate them, or because they're quirky and original and well received. i've honestly never met a person in real life who didn't enjoy that movie.
  • I didn't enjoy Garden State, but I don't hate it, and it's not that I'm "allergic" to good movies, It depends for what people are interested for.
  • stacylee
Different strokes. There are people who like movies like Garden State, and Bring It On Again (for the fifth time) and then there are those who like quality movies. We can't blame people for their bad taste, just know you aren't one of the unintelligent drones allowing people like Miley Cyrus or Paris Hilton in the spotlight, and taking your money. We aren't the fools of this world. But someone has to be the village idiot.
  • Garden State was a wonderful film but very popular to hate as I understand it. Looks to be a pretty solid soundtrack, nice to see Spoon on there. Their inclusion was one of the better elements of Stranger Than Fiction.
  • Nat
ummm....you're missing some artists here. Assuming these aren't covers...

THE BOY WITH THE ARAB STRAP - Belle and Sebastian
Train In Vain - The Clash

Seems like a lot of horrible crap in this movie...the knight rider theme? Poison? The Smiths? ugh.
  • Geist
I personally agree, I don't think there's a lot to love on this list. Aside from a few like Black Lips, Feist and a couple of others IMO.
  • SmartOne
    1. They didn't write the performing artists underneath those song titles because in the movie they were being performed in a karaoke bar, you idiot.
    2. Knight Rider theme & the Poison song were also sung by the actors during, which is why they were not listed on the formal soundtrack you buy in stores, and the Smiths rock.

PS. Go see the movie before you critique someones hard work putting together the entire song list for us to download. Soundtrack was awesome for this movie.
  • angelique7335
thank you...they had a great soundtrack and i loved this movie...I was kind of leary about gettin it cause I had never heard of it but I like the 2 main characters in other movies and shows and the soundtrack just made it even better...
  • angelique
Knight Rider I unserstand, but The Smith's...come on...thats a good group
  • Bookends by Paul Simon! Brilliant moving song, I will be very interested to see how it is used in this film. Very much looking forward to it without added soundtrack hype.
  • Trin
Pretty good. B&S have been getting more popular, lately; Boy With The Arab Strap was also used in Definitely, Maybe, as well as their two in Juno.

Good to see Jack Peñate there, too.
  • Oh, Patrick Swayze........ Almost ruins it, but I'm psyched about 2 of my favorite Smiths songs being in there! And actually, for all the hype around the indie-ness of this movie I was expecting more stuff I hadn't heard of.
  • Olivia
I got the opportunity to see the movie 2 days ago...The Patrick Swayze song works...wait to see the movie, then you'll understand.
  • I'm a bit suprised Zooey Deschanel isn't on the soundtrack considering the fact that she is in the film... I picked up Volume One by her goup She and Him on the strength of me liking her as an actress and I was pleasantly suprised. Give it a listen if you haven't aleady.
  • dallin
does anybody know the soundtrack to 500 days of summer? hit me back with a list of artists and song titles please for the soundtrack. it was great!
  • That's exactly what this post contains. Scroll up! You'll get what you want.
  • I Can see me going back to this post ONCE ive seen the movie! Right now i have no interest! Sorry peter
  • thanks for the list out. just from the railer i could tell this would have a righteous soundtrack.
  • Nice to see a film harnessing the brilliance of Johnny Marr and Morrissey. Musical geniuses right there, some other decent songs on the soundtrack as well...
  • From you're earlier review of the film the soundtrack looks like a nice compliment. Though I did pause when I saw She's Like the Wind on the list...wow...I can't even think of the song with seeing the video flashback in my head. hehe
  • Simone
    Mumm-Ra yes!!
  • Josh
Wow. If the buzz, Zooey Deschanel, and the brilliant Joseph Gordon Levitt didn't already have me excited, this soundtrack just about does it. "Train in Vain" is one of my favorite songs of all time, and there are so many great songs here. Very excited
  • Andrew
Any soundtrack containing Spoon is awesome in my book.

Also, "There Goes the Fear" is a great song. Love me some Doves.
  • deathmetalhero
    all crap.
  • This looks like a great soundtrack. Why is this film being compared to Garden State so much?
  • Zooey Deschanel shows the exact same expression and performance in each movie.
    Manic and very uninteresting.
Joseph Gordon Levitt on the other hand is wonderful in everything he does.
  • Lindsay
I saw the movie on Saturday at Sundance, and each song fits the movie perfectly. The movie does a wonderful job of flowing on its own, but the music adds the brillantness of Mark Webb. Some of the songs on this list were actually sung by actors in the movie, so they might not be on the "official" soundtrack. Overall, this is just a list of songs used in the movie. However, if you get the chance to see it, definitely do. It's a wonderful film with a wonderful script played out well by wonderful actors.
  • I know the song list looks random but I saw the film at Sundance and each song fits in SOOO well, you really have to see it to understand. Especially She's like the Wind, and the Night Rider song. Just trust in time.....you will know why. But seriously GREAT film, and I can't wait to see it again!
  • cal
i thought garden state was a powerful movin piece of work not to found of juno tho and i tink this looks very good....some of these movies can stink but the ones that get it right are some of the best movies around
i liked garden state and punch drunk love nd eternal sunshine
didnt like i heart huckabees nd juno
  • vanessa
ahhh. thank you thank you thank you for the music. THANK YOU
  • david c
hey does anybody know the trailer song to this movie? It's freaking awesome...
  • vvv
hall and oates , see above.
  • Rose
It's "You Make My Dreams" that was bothering me too
  • neil
Just saw this at SXSW. The songs on the list that don't appear to "fit in" with the indie theme are used VERY HILARIOUSLY in the film. I think someone early on mentioned the tenuous connection of "indie film" with "indie soundtrack" and the Garden State thing just went out of control. I didn't think of GS one bit while watching this.

Great music. Great acting. Great film.
  • Rose
What's the song that's like "What I want you got...." can't think of the other words but it's been stuck in my head. I love that part of the trailer
  • I watched the movie at the Rochester High Falls festival. Hilarious and wonderfully done. A must see.
  • gladys
Hall and Oats - You Make my Dreams Come True
  • gladys
That's the song that plays on the commercial
  • Gary C.
I saw this movie at SXSW and it's insanely good. I thought it would suck cuz I 'm not a fan of "love stories" but it was nothing like I expected. The music was insanely good and made an "A" movie an "A+". Does anyone know who chose the music for this? Supervisor or whatever? The ironic music scenes were hilarious! (you'll know what I mean when you see it).
  • Gary C.
Nevermind. I just IMDB'd it. Andrea von Foerster is who did the music by the way. Never heard of her/him.
  • allie
whoaaa there! i loved garden state...that movie changed my life! haha\
    and i love zach braff..
  • kerrie
this movie was amazing. thats all.
  • I despise garden state with nearly every fiber of my being and I can give you quantifiable reasons why it shouldn't have been made.
  • Saishta
What was the song that was playing while they on the train having coffee?
  • megan
Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap
  • courtneyLeBaron
Awesome soundtrack...I guess it is a little trendy but I love how it has the folk...and some black lips. hell ya
  • K
    Excellent sountrack.
Especially Regina Spektor...I really love Hero:)
