dude they look awesome! this is exactly how i envisioned the movie in my head. i think making the move a little dark is the only way to go
  • Hahaha!!! they all look so fucking cool...can't wait for this!
  • Looking Good Mr. Jonze. Looking good.
  • Wow. These are incredible. Incredible.
  • "Ugh. Skateboards. That's like so five years ago."
  • olddogexskater
even the response, "that's like so..." is so five years ago. Just because you've quit doesn't everyone else has.
  • Rollie Fingers
Some folks still need to appreciate a good dose of facetiousness. You are not helping matters any.
  • olddogexskater
I'm just angry that I can't skate anymore and am taking it out on just about anyone. teehee!
  • spensom
    i think that's a quote from clueless...
  • Oi Vey
    Wow..they are amazing
  • Very natural looking monsters. Were they cgi or animatronic or a mix of both?
  • cinemaniac1979
they're a mix. They are actors in full body costumes and then the faces were animated using CGI
  • Geist
They look amazing, I love how it's all physical effects for the most part.
  • These are straight out of my childhood. I can not wait for this film.
  • Those look awesome. Makes we want to learn how to skate.

Read this great interview. From what I remember, there are men in huge 7 foot tall suits, and they would "act out" the performance to the voices of their characters and then cgi would be used on their faces to animate them.
  • Dr. Doc
WOW!!! those look great!!! very creepy, yet somehow adorable. cant wait to FINALLY see this flick!
  • I hate skateboards....yet I might just get one of those.
  • Stryker
Which one is supposed to to be Gandolfini? Whitaker? Dano? Any way they look awesome. WTWTA is quickly moving up the ranks to be my #1 most anticipated for 2009.
  • Lono
Man, those look great. I can't wait to see this.
  • I can't wait to see the movie again. It is hard to believe that it has been well over a year since I have seen that movie but the visuals are still vivid in my mind. The boards just made me remember that wonderful movie experience.
  • COOL! I love it, can't wait to see it. Hopefully it grabs the mysterious feel to it like the book had for me.
This has been one of my favorite childhood books, I even played Max in a kindergarten play.
  • garefowl
Wow, I love these. The feelings these monsters give off. . they all give an air of sadness. It is hard not to be drawn into their sad eyes. Very mysterious and very nice.
  • The girl skateboard site has an interview with Spike Jonze and a screen grab from the movie... Why did you leave all of that out?!?!

    Read!
  • Love it. Really good stuff. Hope it turns out well.
  • I love how they look so much like the book plus a real life kind of feel. I can't wait for this movie to come out.
  • I aint going to lie to you I'm as equally scared as I am amazed by the photos of the monsters.

No wonder the studio threw a fit over the design and tried to pull the plug.

The monstero look scary and wonderful all at one time!
  • holy shit I can't wait for this movie
  • Wow! I am truly impressed with that way the monsters came out! The "wild things" look really good and (thank allah) not to cheesy! Great board designs!
    ..also..
I love how Spike Jonze pushes the envelope when it comes to skate videos!
  • Man, this movie is going to be so epic. I find it funny though that we get skateboards before we get a proper trailer.
  • Jackie/B
I'm already back in my childhood!!! That looks quite awsome....
  • Perfect!
  • lets go jonze!!!!!!
  • wow those look just like how my imagination made them as was child.
    can't wait for this film
  • Gorgeous. At least we know they go the design of the wild things right, I mean they seem dead on from the book. And that means a lot.

  • Thats fantastic! I get the feeling of a child-hood classic for many kids out there, actually just a classic for everyone!
  • That's pretty tight. I like the updated Dark Crystal feel of the characters
  • I'm usually never impressed or even phased by any pics released on the net, but all of these blew my mind.
  • Production Design and Costumes will always have work after this film is released (probably did already, but you get my drift...) These look fantastic. I love anticipating a film this much, and I also love when it absolutely delivers. Here's hoping.
  • andrewdill
look up "lakai" shoes, they are skateboard shoes that are affiliated with Girl Skateboards, they have shoes with these same graphics on them coming out
  • I dont raelly have any hype or interest in thsi movie...maybe cause i didnt read the story?
  • Jara
Dude all of these monsters look sad. Horribly, depressingly sad.
I mean they look amazing, but why are they all so sad
  • I can't wait.
  • MozThaGreat
this looks amazing but i was hoping it would b a lil darker, lik r-rated type stuff. Kinda lik if guillermo del toro, tim burton and jonze collaborated.
  • starscream9289
They look amazing. I'm guessing they're only for display in your room or something though. I wouldn't wanna mess these up.
  • wacko3205
Wow...can't say anything more than that...well...actually I can. This is B-E-A-U-tiful!!! I grew up with this as my favorite of child hood books & was scared shortless that it'd be a botch of a job...this pretty much flushes that notion down the toilet. Honestly I wanted Gilliam to have a hand in this...but it seems like ole' Spike's got his finger on the pulse all the way to the heart. Being an ex-skater that still likes to push...my heart skipped beats when I saw the Girl line of boards...probably have to make that purchase!
  • AWhitman
this is gonna be f'in classic
  • shadow
Barring something going horribly wrong, this is probably going to be my favorite film of next year. Cannot wait.
  • Sauce
Wow...Those are really great looking. Makes what seems like an extremely long wait for this movie to come out seem that much longer.
