Official Crank 2 Trailer Unleashed

After the uncensored red teaser trailer leaked onto the interwebs last week, Lionsgate rushed to get an official trailer for Crank 2 online. And the trailer hit the web on Thursday night on IGN. The new trailer is a lot more traditional, and gives you a better idea of exactly how insane the sequel might be. I’m still waiting for the man in suit action that was hinted at from the gigantic head photos from a while back. You will notice a moment in the last few seconds of the trailer where Chev Chelios grabs on to some heavy duty power lines. I believe that is the moment when things get gigantic. Watch the trailer after the jump, and leave your thoughts in the comments.

Crank 2: High Voltage hits theaters on April 17th 2009.

Crank made $44M theatrically ww and over $30M on DVD. Crank 2 will double those figures. Neveldine/Taylor know how to deliver pure entertainment. Adrenaline on film. In this economic malaise, that's what will sell...
  • ill_will
that was Chester from Linkin Park no?
    oh and looks great.
    imma see it.
  • Poor Chev Chelios he never gets too sleep, lol.
  • Chris
Looks crazy! But in a way that makes me wanna see it.
  • Crank is one of the best movies to watch when one is high...I can't wait for Crank 2...Best Crank ever!
  • EvenStephen7
Well I subscribe to the theroy that the first one ( and maybe this one) was a big videogame. After he fell, he died, but he blinked ( starting a second life). Afterall, the big videogame sequence after the credits of the first Crank was there for SOME reason, right? Maybe it's so insane because it's taking place in a crazy 16-bit action game.
  • EvenStephen7
And I spelt theory completely wrong. Sorry. Just woke up.
  • Anybody else notice that the beginning trailer music was the same that they used in tropic thunder? maybe its a sign that this movie will be kick ass too.
  • I always wondering why Bai ling was famous, I mean she's not hot and I'm sure she doesn't have any acting ability. Why oh why does she get to be in movies?
  • I don't know either. Only reason I can think of is because she's cheap and doesn't mind baring her skinny, barely-any-breasts body.
  • I'll agree with you on that. She has no breasts whatsoever. Nothing there but really big nipples.
  • I guess they went with the first idea any of the writers got. This seems ridiculous but I'm sure I'll be watching it for no particular reason. Maybe for the action, who knows.
  • Just the fact that Jason Statham's name in this is Chev Chalios is hilarious to me. When did he turn French? Chev is a weak name for a guy like him.

But the trailer - well it looks kind of ridiculous. Maybe, possibilty good and fun...but really ridiculous.
  • Wow, I actually enjoyed this one more than the red band, LOL ... just wish Bai Ling wasn't in it :P

Movies are made for an audience, and thank God this movie has an audience that it appeals to. One of the best things I love about the movies is that it is a different world were anything is possible. I think we love movies because they take us out of our every day life and for a couple of hours we get to be thrust into another one. Just like there is no one running around with claws shooting our of there hands, or huge robots from another world running round looking for a cube that crashed on earth is real or even possible, so is the state of this movie. But it is fun and entertaining, which is what we are all looking for in what we watch.

    agree
  • Why did I even read this story?
  • Because you love Jason Statham movies.
  • "Your gonna tell me who's got my heart." Neveldine/Taylor have simply looked at creating enjoyment from their films and this looks no different to the brilliant 'Crank'. Throwing a linear narrative, intricate script and emotional acting out the window, we get instead a high-octane film containing nothing, but blood, guts and a whole shop full of quick-fire action. And this definitely looks an enjoyable film to me.

I really have no problem with the ludicriousy of how they disregard reality as long as the movie is good. I mean Skynet launching a nuclear war against humans, robots from space battling on Earth, a wizard in training, etc. aren't exactly based in reality either. No one are complaining about those movies reality.

I am worried that this will be just a stupid rehash of the first movie, but I can ignore the silliness of some black market organ dealers developing an artificial heart and Strahthan having to electricute himself at levels that would kill the average person to stay alive.

Smart move though not including Corey Haim in the trailer. His involvement made me a little apprehensive to begin with.
  • I agree...In film, its not about truth, its about truth within the film's constituted reality. If the directors can create a world where this stuff is beleivable, then I buy it. The directors do a good job of making a ridiculous world and making it awesome.

Plus Amy Smart looking good again is a plus.
  • okay... wow the trailer looks good... it looks way much more innovative than "Wanted" and everyone said "Wanted" was a new kind of action movie....
  • BROOKLYN
wanted was so formulatic. from beginning to end, I was never impressed or wow'd. It took itself seriously, and sucked in the process.

Crank has a lot of humor tied into it, and was infinitely better than Wanted.

Have you checked out Shoot Em Up? That's another minute 1 - end pure action movie.
  • Does anybody even care about Jason Statham anymore?
  • I don't think he even cares about himself anymore. I mean why would he agree to do the sequel? I guess maybe he was under contract or something.
  • This looks crazy. I must go watch the first one.
  • adE
get with the program brian! if u dont like it dont watch it. simple.

this looks mental and im glad, can't wait!

oh and that last comment is begging for a uranus joke haha
  • brian is a douche
    Amen.
  • You can see my action movie erection from space.

Y'know, just in case anyone was curious.
  • hah
  • Normally I would agree with your opinion. In fact I did agree with your opinion until I was forced to watch the first movie. As someone said above though, Crank was a breath of fresh air into the action movie. And it was.
  • brian
it's sad to see a movie that discards quality filmmaking in the name of "fun" and so many people actually praising it
  • there's two kinds of action movies. there's action movies that are well-written, have great acting, and great direction. the other ones are just plain mayhem induced fun. one example i'll go with (besides the orignal "Crank") was "Shoot Em Up". basically an 89 minute gun fight. but with Clive Owen. that was just fun to turn off your brain and enjoy for a while.
  • I don't praise this movie but since it is an action movie, it really doesn't have to make since. I agree that it's a dumb idea for a sequel but I guess I won't mind too much.
  • brian is a douche
get over yourself and get off your fucking perch.

it was indeed a breath of fresh air, and it is definitely a movie you watch for fun.
  • optimusprime
brian, it's suppose to be a insane action movie and that's it. People see this for fun and I'm one of them. I have seen movies worst than this.
  • I love how the trailer begins with today i didn't die. Because, if remember correctly the Crank 1 trailer began with 'Today is the day I die'.
    Looks fkn awesome!
  • this looks... AWESOME!
  • I wonder how he dies in this movie and comes back in Crank 3.
    :)
  • That's what I was wondering. How do you think they'll bring him back for another sequel?
  • Wow, this is going to be so fun to watch. Cant wait to see this. A must see film in 2009.
  • jason B
as i've said before, behind transformers, this is my second most anticipated film of 09'. and i don't think a film like this can jump the shark, because it doesn't take itself seriously.
  • Rob
Transformers and Crank over Watchmen, Star Trek, or Avatar? I fully expect the second Transformers to be crap since the first one was vastly overrated. I'm up for Terminator:Salvation, X-Men: Wolverine, The Wolf Man, and GI Joe too over Transformers.
  • optimusprime
Just because you thought Transformers sucked, doesn't mean everybody will have the same opinion. And by the way, TF2 is my most anticipated movie of 2009 and I'm sure people have that on their list.
  • I totally can't wait for this film, the first one was a total breath of fresh air into the action scene
  • Haha this loooks soo unbelievably good i must rent out the first
  • I agree, renting a good idea for this one.
  • The whole plot of Chelios not dying from falling that far is bogus, but this movie, just like the first, should be a lot of fun.
  • Adam
And the shark has been jumped.
  • Ben Nadler
    How so?

The first one was just as ridiculous. They set the bar at insanity, so it's not as if this is doing something crazy that the first one didn't already do. It's a logical progression of craziness.

Each movie series creates its own universe. In the Crank universe, this is entirely plausible. It's completely different for Indiana Jones in which there was a certain level of plausibility that existed up until he escaped a nuke by hiding in a fridge, or by having aliens. The Indiana Jones world was established with a religious angle in mind, so switching to nukes and aliens was jumping the shark...but Crank is working within the confides the first movie set.
