definatly not. Heath's role as the joker was the greatest in history and no one can really do as good as he did.

Although Ledger did a stellar job as the Joker, I don't think it's inconcievable that another actor could do just as amazing a job as Heath did, and to be perfectly honest, my vote would go to Johnny Depp...the man can play ANYBODY, and I'd personnally love to see his interpretation of the villain...I think he might even outshine Ledger's performance.

Yes. I was hoping and expecting this to happen. The joker has been an icon since the '30's. Ledger did a wonderful inspired job. He was, no holds bared, the best Joker there has ever been..SO FAR. Now that the movie industry has seen the right tone and take on this legendary character ( and how much money a dark dangerous horrifying Joker will make for them ) future Joker's will benefit from Ledger's portrayal. Ledger paved the way for seeing this character done right. But Ledger's joker is not the ONLY greatw ay to portray him. There will be future jokers, and there SHOULD be. as tragic as Ledger's death is, there is no reason or any sense in retiring this great character out of misguided respect for the actor. Characters like The Joker are bigger than any actor. Sherlock Holmes was not retired from film or television when the genius Jeremy Brett passed away tragically. The Joker is just as giant a character.
And to be honest. I am betting Heath Ledger would WANT the role he said he "had the most fun with" out of all his characters to continue.

I would want the Joker back in the Dark Knight sequel but the actor playing the role has to be almost as good as Heath when he played the role. No doubt that Heath was the best Joker and many fans like myself will miss him and probably won't get used to the fact that he is gone. However, this does not mean that the Joker should not be included in the next film; there are many people who could be the Joker and do a fine job but Heath will always be number one.

agreed, but unlike previous Batman movies, the current series (batman begins & the dark knight) would have to continue using many of the same characters. though rachel dawson has had 2 different actors, it's going to be very hard to find someone capable of pulling such a brilliant roll Heath played as the Joker! but that's just my opinion, and i'm very open to other's opinions!
