Mickey Rourke Joins The Expendables

Another bad ass actor has been enlisted in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables. The Wrestler star Mickey Rourke will join Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Dolph Lundgren, Forest Whitaker and Ben Kingsley in a story about an “expendable” team, hired to do jobs that no one else can or will.

The team is sent to infiltrate a South American country to overthrow the ruthless dictator and liberate the country. According to Variety, Rourke will play “an unscrupulous arms dealer who becomes the go-to guy for the group of mercenaries”. Principal photography is set to begin in Brazil and Louisiana in March.

    OLEG LIVES!

  • The premise and cast sounds promising, muy macho!
  • This is turning into Oceans eleven with a bunch of bad mothas. Ben Kingsley? Count me in.
  • TheMarquis
This is shaping up to be Inglorious Basterds with a better cast.

Someone throw Bruce Willis in there. Add Arnold and you've got yourself a stew going.
  • Drake Whalterson
    Sponsored by Planet Hollywood?
  • TheMarquis
You need Demi Moore to sign off on the Sponsorship.
  • Drake Whalterson
Aww man! We don’t have to get her involved, do we?
  • Some guy
"The team is sent to infiltrate a South American country to overthrow the ruthless dictator and liberate the country." I'm sorry to bring politics to the table, but this is really fucked up. Most dictators in South America have been supported by the US government. This storyline looks as misguided as the original Rambo flicks. It's a shame this kind of movies are still being done in the US, and it's certainly a shame for the cast. Most of them I actually like, but soon they'll be changing to "not cool at all". I guess that's it for good old Gandhi.
  • Spooky
I laughed the minute I saw the picture...really?
I mean the movie should have done in the 80's now it feels like the Wrestler just that they are serious. I don't want to feel guilty when some of these old guys dies at the shooting of this flick.
And I just realized that We don't have many good new action stars..ugh!
  • REAL6
Damn when the hell did they add Kingsley? Must have been this week. This is so dope so far. ROuke is dope but i wish the last spot could have been Kurt Russell.

    ANd Ahhnoldddddddddddddd as President.

    MAKE IT HAPPEN DAMMIT!!!
  • This actually sounds really kick ass.
  • Slowly I'm becoming more and more excited about this film. I am truly impressed by the cast now and I can't wait.
  • Dagger
This movie is gonna be awesome. It's like one of those dream ideas. Very excited!
  • Lenny
Just watched Get Carter the other day with all it's Stallone fights Rourke goodness. So this is exciting!
Oh and Statham takes em all in a battle royal to the death!
  • It kinda sounds like that old movie, Uncommon Valour with Gene Hackman.
  • This could actually have some value to it.. interesting
  • starscream9289
What is this, an international A Team?
  • I think the full title is "A-Team: Expendibles"
  • Maybe he'll be Academy Award winning Micky Rourke by the time it comes out...
  • J.D.
Randy Couture will be an unanticipated highlight. He's got more of a following than the Hollywood people realize.
  • I think this is the greatest action film casting ever put together...now let's hope Stallone can deliver the goods
  • I don't know man. Stallone is old. Where the heck has Dolph Lundgren been for the past 10 years? And Jason Statham's movies are pretty much hit and miss. Although, Kingsly and (the much hyped) Rourke might bring a little more acting cred to this.
  • REAL6
SO what is Stallone is old, i bet he could take you on. Lundgren hasnt gone anywhere, he's been directing his own movies are staring in them. They might be B movies but at least he's making money and has a hugh following still.
  • Stallone could definitely pound me into the ground, no contest. It's just sad really. In the 90s Stallone tried to be a "real" actor, not just a cardboard action hero, and failed. It's just sad to see him trying to recapture his glory days by revisiting old franchises and genres just to make a buck. I mean, the guys is 62. Other actors have given up their youthful action movies when they hit a certain age. Maybe Stallone should do the same.
  • Tom
That's why he's expendable! He's so old and stuff.

Stallone deserves more credit than he gets. The man wrote Rocky, and co-wrote many of his other films. He also directed Rocky 2-4, Rocky Balboa, Rambo and others. He has way more creative talent than a lot of non-'washed up' stars. Also, if you saw Cop Land, you'd know Stallone didn't fail at "real" acting.
  • I totally agree. It's sad that people only think he's commercially viable as an action star, and it looks like he believes it too. Copland was good, but a box office bomb. I think Stallone should do a Clint Eastwood, and get out of action movies, do some directing and build his reputation as an artist rather than a body.
  • Would you like being "pounded" by Stallone?
  • Pretty much. I expect some serious ass-kicking in this film.
  • Palmer
So whose going to be Hannibal, Faceman, BA, and Howling Mad? Also, will they have a van?
  • whata cast!
  • Danisgod6491
Yea, it's the A-Team with more guys.
  • So, that would make it the A+ Team?
  • gah
Man, i hope he's not pulling a Halle Berry and squandering his good fortune. He's in two Statham films. yeah, we'll see.
  • Bnitro
Dear Baby Jesus, thank you for this gift.
  • Sean
all that's left is Arnie and Sam Jackson
  • Yeah, Sam Jackson is in like 5 movies a year, how did he miss this one?
  • Sam Jackson is a racist. Hates white people. I know this first hand.
  • and only if you can find them.
you can call THE SHIT YEAH!
  • I like to picture Jesus wearing a tuxedo t-shirt, so he's like I can be formal, but I'm here to party.
  • TheMarquis
I like to picture my jesus as a mischievous badger.
  • Wow, Kingsley looked a lot like John Locke from that picture.
  • very interesting cast of international artist.
  • mota
    VAN DAMME PLLLLLEEEEAAASSSEEEE!!
  • This has the best cast of any action film... ever. It's worth going to watch it just to see these guys together on screen. I seriously, seriously hope Stallone pulls this baby off.
  • frank
    what mean expendable?
  • Jean-Claude Van Damme needs to be in this too. JCVD was in my top 10 of the year.
  • Yeah, and where are Wesley Snipes and Steven Segal? They both need a good career reboot :)
  • REAL6
Steven Segal can stay where hes at. He's never been good. Snipes is still doing his thing.
