    so..obi wan's failure is complete...
  • ah shit. star trek will never be the same without her.......
  • Mike
damn that's harsh. It really will never be the same
  • Rest in peace, Majel.
  • I think that if we look at the bright side, she will live on forever as that voice that all trekkies know. Most likely her involvement in the abrams version will bring some of those die hard trekkies into the theaters to listen to her last performance. RIP
  • Man that's a shock.

Condolences to her family and I hope they deal with it without too much stress.

Hope JJ dedicates the new movie to her.
  • Agreed, she deserves nothing less.
  • R. I. P. I wasn't a huge Star Trek fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I remember voice from the amount of times I came in drunk at 4am and Star Trek was the only program on terrestrial television.
  • Haha...I feel you on that one...RIP

What's the source for this? There's no mention on both trekweb.com or startrek.com. I find it hard to believe neither of those would not run it.

damn. didn't see that happening for another 20 years or so. gonna miss her. almost feels like an aunt died.
  • That's sad but i think it's great that she was able to do what she loved all the way until she passed.

I wasn't a big Star Trek fan but her voice set the standard for a lot of "computer" voices in the future.

    RIP!
  • Dave
Damn, this is terrible, terrible news. So used to hearing her voice and seeing her on TV every day, its gonna be weird hearing her the next time the computer chirps up on latter day Trek.

    R.I.P. indeed.
  • Alex
    Why did you capitalize died?
  • Surprising and sad news, but I'm happy to read she went peacefully.

Many years ago, I was at a convention, wandering through the dealer's room, when I heard a familiar voice. Thinking someone had a recording playing, I looked toward the sound to find it was no recording. She was sitting behind a dealer's table. We talked for over an hour until she had to go on stage. It was like talking to an old friend even though we just met. That is the way I'll remember her.

The Great Bird of the Galaxy and his First Lady are together again.

    Rest in peace, Majel.

Space is the final frontier only as man's knowledge is limited. But, so as is the universe eternal. So shall her voice and presence be.
    RIP

  • Rest In Peace. god took her at the perfect time. beautiful death. hopefully this marks the begining a new age in an infinite Star Trek legacy as JJ Abrams movie comes out soon... i feel the movie might be the begining of something very special...

    new age trek...
  • I'm glad that they at least gave us Majel (and some Nimoy) in the new movie since it's tailored for a new audience, not existing fans. Majel was the greatest "trekker" of them all - and we all feel the loss. I wish her family and all who loved her peace.
  • Rob
Ah this really got to me. Huge trek fan, only found out she was in the new film the other day. Im expecting all the trek/sci-fi podcasts I listen to to do specials now, she ruled star trek for so long. No one else could do the voice of the computer.

What a wonderful woman. I met her at a convention in Des Moines where she spent the whole day sitting at her table signing pictures and visiting with fans. She will be missed.
  • This is very sad news. It was just the other day we got the update that she was reprising her role as the voice.
  • Michael
This is terrible news! I was thrilled to hear that she was doing voice work for the new movie, but I didn't even know she was sick, so is quite a shock, and very saddening.

No one could come close to touching the level of energy and creativity that she brought to the character of Lwaxana Troi.

    She will be missed...
  • Rachel Summers
Wow. She was a great lady. I grew up watching her guest appreances on Star Trek. This is so sad. She'll be greatly missed. R.I.P.
  • marz
