The Stupidest Dark Knight Sequel Rumors Yet

The England-based newspaper The Sun is reporting that Eddie Murphy has been cast as The Riddler, and Shia LaBeouf has been cast as Robin in a sequel to The Dark Knight. Of course, this rumor is complete bullshit. It seems like the rumor mongers aren’t even putting effort into these things anymore. The news story isn’t even the slightest bit believable.

Even if Christopher Nolan had signed on for a third Batman film, which has yet to happen…

Even if he had a story idea for said film, which has yet to happen…

Even if David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan had cranked out a first draft or treatment, which has yet to happen…

Even if he had given said treatment to Warner Bros, which has yet to happen…

Even if Warner Bros loved the pitch and approved the casting choices, which has yet to happen…

Who honestly believes that Christopher Nolan would cast Eddie Murphy and Shia LaBeouf? Nothing evident in the casting for Batman Begins or The Dark Knight leads me to believe that either of those two stars would even appear on Nolan’s list of the top 50 potential stars for a “next film”.

  • So where's the punchline? The whole The Sun article (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/biza...screams 'prank!', but with the inept writing of the Sun's journalists (can we even call them journalists?), this wouldn't surprise me if it was entirely serious.

    I particular found this bit of the article hilarious: "Insiders also revealed to The Sun the flick will end on a cliffhanger over whether Batman survives a blast at Wayne Towers."

    And Nolan has ideas that he's not committed to. That part is true at least. He has a few rough outlines that he says aren't connecting.
