Stand-Up Comedian Cameos in Judd Apatow’s Funny People

It’s beginning to look like Judd Apatow is trying to fill his new Adam Sandler dramedy Funny People with an all-star list of stand-up comedian cameos playing themselves. Dave Attell appeared on the Howard Stern Show today, and revealed that he filmed a scene for Funny People with Sarah Silverman and Norm MacDonald. Andy Dick has also filmed a cameo as himself

He said that the scene was filmed pretty quickly and was highly improvised, which makes me believe that its one of the scenes where dying comedy legend George Simmons (Adam Sandler) and his assistant and budding young comedian Ira (Seth Rogen) are hanging out with some of Simmon’s “friends” (more of acquaintances, as Simmons doesn’t really have any friends).

You can read more about the plot of the film in our previous script review. What other comedians make appearances in Funny People?

  • This movie sounds like it's going to be pretty good. Oh by the way, Norm MacDonald is hilarious.
  • Andy Dick is in this. That's it I'm not seeing it
  • Andy Dick is in this? That's it I'm not seeing it
  • skaught
i'm sure you don't see much of anything with dick in it.
  • Anything with MacDonald as himself will be very funny.
  • I hope they get Doug Stanhope in there.
  • Adam
Ugh Andy Dick is still getting work?
  • ugh is exactly right
  • Sounds good, Norm is hilarious, as is Sarah Silverman (as well as being quite hot at times) but Andy Dick? Really? There's something about that guy that creeps me out.
  • Haha me too...Andy Dick is a fucking weirdo...
  • vincentvega
    I heart Norm.

I think pretty much anyone that is friends with Sandler or Apatow will make it in this movie...from what Attell was saying on Stern is that there are lot more comedians involved he didn't mention them all...but the names he did mention are great for cameos...as long as we don't see Dane Cook I'm happy, although I wouldn't be surprised if Pauly Shore shows up
  • Sarah Silverman is a deal breaker for me. Would never pay to see anything she's in.
  • Can Apatow make Sarah Silverman funny? That is the question. If so then he deserves a medal.
  • Christopher M
you should watch "Way of The Gun" that's one of the best performances from a female comic...
  • Christopher M
  • Playing a bitch is hardly out of her "acting range" if you've seen her comedy central show.
  • I realized last night that this isn't the first time Rogen and Sandler have been in something together. Adam guested Undeclared.
  • Kid Chensation
Rumors out of the UK have Eddie Murphy as the Riddler and Shia Lebeouf as Robin! Hahaha!
  • I used to have high hopes for Funny People, but not anymore.
  • I am excited. This should be good.

"What other comedians make appearances in Funny People?"

Hopefully someone with an actual comedic bone in their body? Norm I can see being funny here and there but nothing giving a hoot about. I don't even know why anybody would even highlight Sarah Silverman. That woman is Grade A Mencia Approved Funny Leukemia. Only god knows why Comedy Central opted to give her her own show, and then pursued to renew it. CC needs to get its act together and I don't think green lighting Demetri Martin is going to be enough.
  • as long as mencia and cook are no where to be found im ok
  • Project sounds good except for Sandler who I loath.
By the way, Sarah Silverman rocks.
  • im so happy Norm is in this. Dude needs more work Dirty Work was awful but damn near perfect at the same time.
  • Adam
Yeah dude is not even doing those Bell commercials anymore, he does need the work, but it could be worse at least he didn’t have his nose bitten off by a Saigon whore! Seriously Norm is the man!
  • dirty work WAS perfect. it was the most perfect movie ever.. i remember how i laughed and laughed in the bar scene when the guy goes 'terry, jack, mike!'

sarah silverman is a descent comedian for being a female but still sucks. I dont think anyone likes Andy Dick I think that even comedians think he is a joke and that would be the reason for putting him in this, as a joke. Nick Swardson should be in there somewhere hes hilarious and Sandler's apprentice but not as cornballish as Sandler.
  • i dont know how 'funny' sarah silverman is, but i do know she is one hot jew.
  • Jay Beezy
    How about Dave Chappelle?
  • Christopher M
I think he's still crazy to be put onto film...too bad he went all Lauren Hill on us
  • spoiled
Dying? How about a spoiler warning you fucks
  • Jay Beezy
You know that's not really much of a spoiler. That's pretty much the setup of the movie.
  • It's not a spoiler, it is the first act turning point, its in the movie's official plot synopsis, and will likely be the center focus of the movie trailer/advertising
  • yeah, you dumb phuck
