Knowing Movie Trailer

Summit Entertainment has released the full length movie trailer for Alex Proyas‘ upcoming thriller Knowing. If you’ve seen the previous teaser, than you know that Nicolas Cage comes across a code that predicts every major disaster in the last 50 years, including the upcoming destruction of everything. This new trailer introduces a new (possibly) supernatural element to the story, “the whisper people”, a group of mysterious albino men who stand off in the distance. Yeah, I’m not too sure what role they play quite yet. Watch the full trailer and leave your thoughts in the comments below.

Official Plot Synopsis: Academy Award® Winner Nicolas Cage (National Treasure: Book of Secrets, Leaving Las Vegas) stars in KNOWING, a gripping action-thriller of global proportions about a professor who stumbles on terrifying predictions about the future—and sets out to prevent them from coming true. In 1958, as part of the dedication ceremony for a new elementary school, a group of students is asked to draw pictures to be stored in a time capsule. But one mysterious girl fills her sheet of paper with rows of apparently random numbers instead.

Fifty years later, a new generation of students examines the capsule’s contents and the girl’s cryptic message ends up in the hands of young CALEB KOESTLER. But it is Caleb’s father, professor JOHN KOESTLER (Nicolas Cage), who makes the startling discovery that the encoded message predicts with pinpoint accuracy the dates, death tolls and coordinates of every major disaster of the past 50 years. As Ted further unravels the document’s chilling secrets, he realizes the document foretells three additional events—the last of which hints at destruction on a global scale and seems to somehow involve Ted and his son. When Ted’s attempts to alert the authorities fall on deaf ears, he takes it upon himself to try to prevent more destruction from taking place.

With the reluctant help of DIANA WAYLAND (Rose Byrne) and ABBY WAYLAND, the daughter and granddaughter of the now-deceased author of the prophecies, Ted’s increasingly desperate efforts take him on a heart-pounding race against time until he finds himself facing the ultimate disaster—and the ultimate sacrifice.

Watch the trailer in High Definition on Apple. Knowing hits theaters on March 20th 2009.

  • After seeing the trailer it seems like there is more to this than we really thought.
  • Nick Cage ...you do realize your uncle is Francis Ford Coppola ? Your Cousin being Sofia Coppola.... REALLY !!!ANOTHER OH NO THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END MOVIE. Either you've got some serious woe's about the earth, or you just need to attend some family reunion get in tight and ask for a favor ....

And by the by I'm totally game for paying 12 bucks to see Face/OFF two: my face is your face is our face.
  • Haha!!! Face/Off 2 FTW...
  • i dont think he gives a shit about making good movies. I think he just wants to relax and make mediocre movies.... maybe?
  • Bull
"From the director of I, Robot"

Oh sweet, so you're the director who made that piece of shit that is on FX every other day. No thanks, I'd rather see a comedy like "Bangkok Dangerous."
  • I also like how the press release has National Treasure 2 as Cage's most significant movie.
  • Proyas had a lot of trouble with I, Robot apparently. Fox were constantly changing things on him, I think he's gone on record saying something to the effect of "I'll never work with Fox again". So although he is partly to blame, I think his original vision for the movie was a lot better.

As for "Knowing" I think it has potential to be pretty engaging. I'm sure it won't stand up against "Dark City", but that would be very hard to do. This trailer certainly makes it look better than I originally thought.

Good trailer, going to wait for the reviews and word of mouth since Cage is not doing good movies lately but Proyas have The Crow and Dark City to support him and Rose Byrnes is hot.
  • Are we taking bets on whether the whisper people are aliens or not?
  • The albinos have to be the aliens from Dark City.
  • Spoiler alert....

    Hah.
  • wrong they are the children of the damned... the adolescents of the damned now.
  • For a Nic Cage movie that looked pretty sweet to me! Anyone else agree?
  • Looks like a nice popcorn movie - nothing more, nothing less.
  • agreed
  • They are more of a combination between the Observer from Fringe and the girl from the Ring. Either way though, very very stupid additional element to an already kinda crappy story.
  • Convoluted plot + Nicolas Cage = no money from me.

When is Alex Proyas going to make something worthwhile again?
  • lpfanaddy
wouldn't that be quite a twist if it turned out to be some strange sequel(-ish) movie to Dark City.

Foundation series by Asimov talks about a formula for predicting the future and even has messages saved until just the right time. Then ya toss in a little Creepy men that whisper which is a cliche among cliches to build tension. And what looks like the end become some ...supernatural Armageddon.

Ok, all Sci-fi/ Triller/ Action films steals from everyone else. Whatever, I get that. No biggy. But here's my prediction: This movie will start off well, and really be about the father son relationship. Then you'll kinda get pulled into the mystery part of the story and wonder, wtf. However...about minute 40 they're gonna pull the rug out from underneath the entire story and characters and it will once again be Mr. Cage running and looking very serious. I don't think they'll go for the subtitle approach by the looks of it and that's unfortunate.

    gonna be a stinker.

    Looks somewhat interesting.

However, nic cage's hair is still meowing and needs to be put out of its misery.
  • hahh!!!
  • Trailer looks cool, but after Eagle Eye I no longer trust trailers as ANY indication of how good the movie will be.
  • it was that bad, huh?
  • those whisperers seems kinda too much for already far fetched story
i do not expect too much from this movie
  • I saw this before The Day The Earth Stood Still a few hours ago. As I said when the first trailer came out, I am honestly looking forward to a Nicholas Cage movie for the first time in my life.

"What if Saint Nicolas was Nicolas Cage?" - Liz Lemon

Summit is quickly becoming synonymous with dreck.
  • FreedomisPopular
Eh, I'll probably check it out.
I've all but lost my faith in Nicolas Cage as an actor though.
  • Why did he have a gun? Isn't he a teacher? I know, "hur hur any1 can hold a gun!!!11!!" Movies about unseen disasters became null and void since "The Happening" whisked its way through theaters.
  • Horrible Trailer!

I have about lost all interest in this film... and I've been following this project since 2003. I guess that could be a badly cut trailer, but I won't be holding my breathe.
  • Wow, that sucks dude, 2003??? How can you follow something that long and not expect to be disappointed?
  • FAIL.
  • I feel like I've seen this before. Is this a remake?
  • I'm still impressed by the premise so I'm willing to look past the many cliche elements and accept this for the popcorn movie it will be. I have no choice, my wife loves Nic Cage so I will be seeing this regardless. To put things in perspective for you, we own National Treasure 2... *sigh*.
  • Ahhh what's wrong with you people. Any time I hear about a new Nic Cage movie my brain explodes from the thought of all the potential comedic possibilities.

I mean, In this trailer alone:
    "It's all CLAP simply coincedence."
"a piece of paper that's been buried in the ground for five...decades."
"Get off the train!" (only because it sounds like "get off the bike!" oooh wickerman whatup)

Also, his facial expression and aggressive blinking at about 1:28 when he says "The prediction came true it's NOT coincedence" is priceless.

I'm willing to give Proyas as much chance as possible and it would appear to me that this won't be as terrible as I originally thought. It's certainly no Dark City, but it does have an interesting sci-fi element to it (regardless of any deja vu). It would seem that there is a hidden element to it that they are not going to disclose. Hard to say.

When it comes to disaster sequences, this looks a lot better than most of the stuff that we've seen lately. Perhaps, Proyas can build the right tension to have these bits come off a bit closer to a reality that keys into our true fears, as opposed to someone like Roland Emmerich or whatever peopel were muffing through Day the Earth Stood Still.

It's just an optimistic hope. The man that made Dark City simply has to have a pulse in here somewhere, right? I'm blaming Mr. Hancock on the I, Robot film that I choose to erase from my memory. Damn, you Will Smith.
  • looks great. i hate have high expectation. therefore, i will keep my expectation under wrap :D
  • The Whisper People?? Funny stuff!
I'll end up seeing ti anyway since it was shot here in Melbourne, but I'm not expecting great things...
  • jim
this has to be a dark city sequel
  • I was wanting to see this, until they said "the whisper people"...now I know its gonna start out good, then end very very corny...
  • freddiefreeloader
    liam nielson better casting?
  • melissa

Why Cage? Dude will always be known as the guy that really, really, really hated bees.
  • Ahhh what's wrong with you people. Any time I hear about a new Nic Cage movie my brain explodes at the thought of all the potential comedic possibilities/awesomeness.

I mean, In this trailer alone I die at the way this man says:
    "It's all CLAP simply coincedence."
"a piece of paper that's been buried in the ground for five...decades."
"Get off the train!" (only because it sounds like "get off the bike!" oooh wickerman whatup)

Also, his facial expression and aggressive blinking at about 1:28 when he says "The prediction came true it's NOT coincedence" is priceless.
  • Philsauce
I liked it better when it was called Next.
  • Takasawa
I've got a bad feeling about this.
  • Looks like just another apocalyptic movie. Nothing better, nothing worse. I'll see it, but I probably won't enjoy it as much as the people who eat up movies like this.
  • marz
im actually hyped to see this.i like sci fi anyway and Next was alright to me.then again i thought jumper was a neat concept and i know that alot of folk hated that movie...and something about the supernatural like in the movie the forgotten really catches my interest.thanks for posting the preview on here peter.i missed it at the theater.
  • this movie might flop because:

nobody wants to watch dark movies, as we are going through dark economic times, and people would rather watch happy, cheery movies.
  • ça?lar öngüne
    hey!!everyone!!

u have to watch...especially action of ;the plane how it is ... :)
