I agree with lauren. I have been a huge fan of kristen and was actually disappointed she was cast in twilight, because I know she thought it would be a small independent movie, not this big upscale hollywood blockbuster. I have watched her since she was in panic room, and loved her in both in to the wild and in the land of women. She was like 12 and 15 in these movies and i'll be damned if most 15 yr olds could convey such emotion and intellect. She is smart, intelligent and I feel like she is wise beyond her years. I can't believe she is like 5 years younger than me considering how grown up she acts, and considering some of the books and artists she likes. I really admire her. Anyhow, just my opinion!! :)

Wow some of you guys are completely misinformed. First of all Kristen can act Twilight was just a bad film. And she has been playing the guitar for a long time and can sing pretty well. Just watch Into the Wild. Most of her films have been real quality indies she is about the exact opposite of Hollywood bimbo that you claim she is. She has tons of bad attitude which has garnered her some bad press since she clearly doesn't care about being a celebrity. She is the real deal even though she is so young. She was pretty much a nobody prior to Twilight which she thought was an going to be an indie flick since the budget was small and the director was Catherine Hardwicke (thirteen, lords of dogtown).

I wouldn't use information from wikipedia since it's not always factual. She has stated in interviews that she likes classics and her favorite band is the Rolling Stones. If you actually saw her in an interview or whatever you could tell she is totally right for this role. Plus she spent some time with Joan Jett and obviously Jett thinks she is too. They stayed up talking all night! Don't judge her and this film before you know all the facts! Everything I just stated has come from Kristen's mouth via tv interviews or magazine articles.

Can anyone from 'the Donnas' act? Their guitar player would be a decent Lita Ford...and she can actually play the damn thing...

I dislike kristin so much! she is a horrible actress! she was so unemotional and lacked of acting skills in twilight! when she was supposed to be happy, it was total obvious that she was lacking acting chops! and to play joan jett?!? joan jett is one of the most awesome people in rock n roll and they pick kristin to play her?!? i hope the movie either doesnt get filmed or gets no attention cause i am a big twilight fan and she put shame to Bella Swan. the girl who played violet in a series of unfortunate events WAS picked by stephanie meyer! but that damn director didnt use her! she would have been the perfect Bella but she picks kristin who only tried out for the make-out scene (of course, the bimbo) and there are hardly and lines in that scene in twilight. i spat on her so-called acting chops!

Hardwicke, director of Twilight chose Kristen as she knew her boyfriend and her co-star Emile Hirsch referred her. Kristen behaves odd, insecure, seems unable to not behave like a punk rocker EVEN when off The Runaways set, is often hostile, has been insulting to fans, looks and behaves like a tough tom boy instead of as a star, is lacking charm and class as of late.

With that said, she advocated for Rob to get the part, was kind to him and built his confidence up. I think they fell in love and both knew that they are too young to commit right now. He has admitted to being celibate, Catholic and believes you wait for the right person. He is a late bloomer and a really nice and funny guy. I hope that she gets her act together because the photos of her smoking a bong on You Tube and acting insecure, itchy and weird at Comic Con 2009 make me worried for her and her effect on Rob. You have missed the point ENTIRELY!!! Kristen is portraying a "young" Joan Jett, not the Joan Jett of today. The Runaways was over 25 years ago. Kristen is a good actor as was seen in Panic Room and she'll continue to get good roles if she keeps her nose clean. As for not "looking like" Joan Jett; unless Joan has an adolescent daughter that we know nothing about they were gonna have to pull out the makeup anyway! It's not called "acting" for nothing, people!

I dunno, man. I think she has decent acting chops. And could be great. I thought Twilight was pretty fucking terrible but I honestly thought her performance was pretty nice actually. It was subtle. And her character in Into the Wild was obviously good as well. However, I do think she has a lot of to learn. And I agree with the fidgeting. What's with that?

Agreed. I cringed when I read this news. It's not that I dislike Kristen Stewart, but I think she has a lot of growing to do, such as stop the fidgeting! Nothing I've seen her in tells me she'll portray a strong enough presence to pull off rocker Joan Jett. Then again this is Jett as a teenager...

I like the Runaways just as much as anybody else, but... come on. If somebody's trying to make money off Bell's new stardom, at least do it in something interesting.

the only thing I can hope for in this film is that they show a more realistic Darby Crash than in the Shane West biopic. But this isn't much to look forward to.

This could be really cool. Hopefully since it's a biopic, it won't end up like the epic fail that was "Prey for Rock and Roll", the last chick rock and roll movie that I can think of.

This will be a break out role for her. I know she's popular with Twilight but this will get critics noticing her.
